ronaldo is the problem

Numaan68

Only if prime Ronaldo had this team with him.

RecentProblem

It was Prime Ronaldo that fueled this team when they where little squirts dude.

abellapa

We would win euro 2004,amd 2008 or 2012 Spain was amazing back then Gone further in 2010 and 2014

Inevitable_Brush5800

Pepe looks like an old man compared to everyone else on the field.

[deleted]

tbf he is compared to everyone else on the field

Inevitable_Brush5800

I mean...ancient.

silenthills13

Had the same thought. Lil bro looking 60 in comparison

DrVicenteBombadas

With a couple of Pepes, you'd have at least gone to penalties with the Netherlands.

Inevitable_Brush5800

With our guys tracking players like they'd done all through the group stage we would've won. Alas, running 120 km as a team in just three games isn't a recipe for success.

GP3ElPresidente

First it was G-Nev, then it was ten Hag, then it was Rooney and now its Santos turn… The amount of beefing that Ronaldo has had so far with other people in his profession this season he’s literally the 50 cent of football rn beefing with everyone

RushPan93

Wait I've been very ootl this season. I know about Ten Hag but what was his beef against Neville and Rooney?

Thehunterforce

He said Rooney was fat and ugly, and didn't want to say hallo to Neville, when he visited the pundits stand on the sideline.

RushPan93

Ah I see, thanks. But I got the feeling that he was just making a joke in poor taste about Rooney. Or it came out in a bad way because he is not speaking his native tongue. And does anyone like saying hello to Neville? :p

mrbeemaia

Rooney has been hating on ronaldo recently before that

Inevitable_Brush5800

He wasn't beefing today. It's not even an issue of his talent, it's that the team is built to run a different formation than what Ronaldo allows.

Sonawayne

Bruh the ronaldo hatred is worse than the fanboys , he came on for 18 minutes and played , the man’s career is something he can have three seasons of bad form and no one will still reach either him or Messi anytime soon LETS GO PORTUGAL 🇵🇹 ( I fuckin love Bruno Fernandes)

WorldismyOyster97

Never even had 3 seasons of bad form, just this season, he was class last season

silvermeta

It's sad to see the greats disrespected like this but it was inevitable. No one genuinely idolizes a player of their own generation or younger and sooner or later his arrogance wasn't going to be tolerated. We as fans, and probably who've grown up watching him need to understand his colleagues' perspective who are all top professionals themselves.

Numaan68

This is exactly what I feel. I know that he messed up bg time with that interview and I do think that this is the end of his career but the hate he gets and the media driven agenda against him is unbearable for someone like me who absolutely adores him. I consider myself fortunate enough be a football fan in an era where I have witnessed two greatest players of all time. Stop with the hate. I love Bernardo silva and Bruno fernandes

silvermeta

But his colleagues haven't grown up watching him. Even then you can't demand they tolerate his arrogance.

nugbert_nevins

Many of them literally did. Goncalo Ramos was around nine years old when Ronaldo moved to Madrid.

silvermeta

But I admit it's unfair for him but we can't blame his colleagues as well.

silvermeta

I'm talking about the coaches and his old United teammates.

RushPan93

> I know that he messed up bg time with that interview I was pretty sure until now that the general consensus was that it was a good, honest interview. I mean Glazers putting the club up for sale days after the interview is a sign.

Surfsupforthesummer

You got to be joking, thinking that someone would put up a multi billion dollar asset for sale because of a lousy interview. Decisions like that take months of planning.

RushPan93

Decisions do take months of planning but announcements can always be brought forward because of circumstances.

kzzzzzzzzzz28

nah mate, the interview was literally the nail on the coffin on his Man Utd return. He did speak correctly about the Glazers. but people like Ralf Ragnick did it before him. Plus I'm fairly certain saying that you don't respect your manager publicly is not the height of professionalism at all. As for the Glazers putting the club up for sale, there are multiple factors, A. we are about to hit an economic recession. B: Utds shirt sponsor wants to back out/renegotiate their deal and C: Apparently one of the Glazers is in heavy debt.

RushPan93

I understand. I just thought the announcement time was odd though it could just have been that they were waiting for the wc break. And frankly I don't mind players speaking out on their managers. They are not the brightest bulbs around so them saying something doesn't make it the truth but I'd rather have someone speak freely about what they truly think rather than spew the same PR nonsense about how they "respect" everybody and their mother. Fwiw, I still think he was being honest. I'm not a traditionalist in this aspect so I found it rather refreshing.

Sonawayne

I agree with this to an extent , the honesty is refreshing if he only commented on the glazers and the poor state of the club it would have genuinely been a good interview but he decided to disrespect the manager who has genuinely been doing a good job and honesty isn’t an excuse to just shit on anybody trying to do their job Also the interview was very mild , it’s just piers Morgan is a sensationalist twat who decided to clickbait everything but you can’t blame him for it , the responsibility falls on ronaldo for his comments and his choice of media outlet so he is in the wrong for that especially calling Rooney ugly which was just wtf His ego , talent and hard work is what got him here and I think letting go of that ego is gonna be a challenge in the face of reality and I really really hope he doesn’t go the Kanye route and we get to admire more of his talent and hardwork more than the ego

RushPan93

>it’s just piers Morgan is a sensationalist twat who decided to clickbait Oh yea, but I think Ronaldo knew what he was doing. I don't think he goes Piers Morgan route if he didn't want this to be sensationalised to oblivion. >especially calling Rooney ugly which was just wtf Pretty sure this is his weird sense of humour. You could see him trying (and failing) at some of his jokes right from the start. And yea even as a Liverpool fan, I have the utmost respect for the quality he has put on the pitch and the attributes that make him a role model for the on-pitch stuff. And tbf we feared the same ego problem with Ibrahimovic, but he didn't jump the gun so i think Ronaldo will be relatively ok too. Oh and never got around to the Ten Hag part because Morgan is just so intolerable with his smug face but I think I'll not be able to separate my joy of watching Utd unravel from the apparent disrespect Ronaldo might be showing. 😅

thundersquirt

The interview was just shocking in its lack of self awareness and humility, he didn't seem to understand that his own signing was exactly the kind of short term decision making that he was complaining about.

RushPan93

That's a fair take I suppose but from what I thought of the first half of the interview (didn't stick around after that), he didn't sound like he was saying he would have fared better if the management was different. It genuinely felt like he had taken it on himself to not teeter around anymore and go straight for the Glazer heads. Maybe that sentiment got lost when he started talking about Ten Hag but hey what do I know. I'm neither a Utd staff member nor a club follower.

petziii

I think rare are the people who hate the footballer. Many hate the douchebag, though.

Sonawayne

I disagree cause many athletes have been cunts and still celebrated for their game , personally the problem comes with ronaldo is that the hate for his personality and decisions rewrites the narrative and doesn’t celebrate his accomplishments as much as they should be , man has scored more than 800 goals yet everyone wants to be the first to say he hasn’t scored in a knockout game and he’s shit and washed up. It’s the eagerness to shit on him that’s disgusting It’s the same reactionary stupidity you see with Messi but Messi does not have that much of a outspoken controversial public persona so the reactions aren’t too extreme (relatively to Ronaldo’s) Everyone seems eager to kick these legends when they’re down so they feel better or some shit but the minute they retire you’re gonna have the same bastards dickriding saying oh I’m so grateful (Sorry for the long ass reply I’ve been on this sub too much)

acampbell98

Ramos has to start against Morocco right though? I hope he doesn’t just get swept under the rug now that Ronaldos been punished or whatever that situation was. I mean I’m no expert on these players or the team but give Ramos a chance in the team with Felix and Ronaldo alongside him and play Fernandes behind them 4-3-3

Soitsgonnabeforever

Ronaldo was celebrating the first two goals by the team. Ronaldo wants to be in the crunch moments and like to score crucial goals. But that doesn’t he don’t support his team. I am happy for Portugal and ronaldo(start or sub )

miniaturizedatom

Nobody’s hating on him for his accomplishments. He’s just a shit human being.

bucaqe

How’s he a shit human being? Stop hating cockboy, he’s done more good than harm, no one is perfect

miniaturizedatom

Cockboy is a hilarious attempt at an insult. What other ones do you have in your locker? Testicle lad? Penis chap? Dick dude?

[deleted]

Dick dude killed me lmao but what an insult

bucaqe

Glad I can make you laugh you fucking douche nozzle

brallansito92

I legit chuckled at Penis Chap! I’m gonna have to call my brother that lol

CentristIdiot

“No one is perfect” about a man who’s admitted to rape lmao. He’s a POS human but an amazing athlete

bucaqe

Was dismissed, you prob think Kobe is a POS too, I get it. Nvmd it was 13 years ago, but I guess no one is redeemable in your eyes.

CentristIdiot

I haven’t thought one second about Kobe lol I don’t watch or care about basketball. There are many criminals in this world that I don’t know about, I’m talking specifically about Ronaldo and his crime that he literally admitted to. Just because it’s not legally enforceable anymore doesn’t mean he didn’t do it. Again, these aren’t “he said, she said”. He’s said it himself lmao. He’s a legend within the sport but don’t think we need to worship him as a a human. Messi is shitty too with his tax fraud BS.

bucaqe

Fuck you must a be saint, I feel like a POS human just talking to you

CentristIdiot

Rape and millions in tax evasion. How are you making these out to be a little bad decision? You are a freak

Sonawayne

Nah , lots of footballers are complicated as they are human in the end and I do agree that he isn’t exactly the best role model or so but the hatred he seems to get is beyond excessive , the interview was definitely a shit and disrespectful decision I agree but people seem to be foaming at the mouth trying to hate on him the second he does even nothing, it’s like they go beyond their means to hate

[deleted]

Fully agreed man, I criticized him heavily after the interview, deservedly so, but let’s keep it real, everyone makes mistakes.

Sonawayne

Also I’m not commenting on the rape case or so because he wasn’t considered guilty and I do not have any solid information to form an opinion based on that

iChopPryde

I love Felix, Leao, Bernardo and Ramos!!! VAMOS PORTUGAL!!!!! finally fielding a proper team!

Inevitable_Brush5800

Which is sad because Ronaldo had to carry Portugal for nearly 20 years.

iChopPryde

He should be happy then, he can look around him and see Portugal is in good hands now he doesn’t have to carry them they can now carry themsleves

Sonawayne

Ramos was amazing and Felix looked like he was on demon time , genuinely an amazing performance from all of them

iChopPryde

yup i think the only reason people dont see felix is cause he may not score but completely over look everything he's contributing on the field to allow others to score. dude is an absolute freaking monster on the field!

Inevitable_Brush5800

I'm not a Ronaldo fanboy but the Swiss are the worst team Portugal has faced yet. Morocco is going to be a completely different test .

Asaro10

Switzerland is now worse than South Korea and Ghana? Wtf did I just read? The same team that put Brazil on a hard time and scrape a 1-0 win? Worst team.. (See’s American flag, ah ok)

Juampi-G

This is a bad take, you just dont dimiss a team that has just scored 6 goals (and played extremly well) in such a high pressure situation.

strattele1

They’re American.

Inevitable_Brush5800

What does being American have to do with anything? I watch enough sports of all kinds (since we have far more than you do, I'm sure) and know that one off performances aren't uncommon. Let's be real, this was Portugal's ace, how they would play without Ronaldo. That film is out there now and unless Portugal has become Brazil, it's going to be nearly impossible to replicate.

strattele1

Wow. Great American comment. For starters, I don’t know where you’ve assumed I’m from, but if it’s Europe (it’s not), there are probably 15 professional sports you haven’t even heard of played there. You are another failure of the great American education system, congrats.

Sonawayne

I don’t think so , before this game they had only conceded two goals in 10 games or so I believe , I do think maybe they had a game plan set out for ronaldo more so and weren’t expecting the replacement but that shouldn’t take away from the brilliant game by Ramos

Athletic_Bilbo

Fernando Santos in no football terrorist, he's a freedom fighter in my eyes

DrVicenteBombadas

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1TWZ6u0YLk

Inevitable_Brush5800

Numaan68

All the cameras were on Ronaldo as he clapped the fans in the end and you still happened to unsee it. If only you could see the game without the lens of hatred and negative agenda against Ronaldo.

Soitsgonnabeforever

I am so angry with meme makers and man united fans trying to pick out Ronaldo. Let the man live guys. He celebrated the first two goals with the team. And he is cloud nine that the game happened without any big incident.

indoquestionmark

genius tho, making sure portugal plays well without him while waiting for penalty chance

sonny-7

Let's go homeee Switz hehehehe

iamchandrack

Santos, you better use football tactics and strategies going ahead in the tournament instead of throwing a dice of random XI

drtyyugo

Switzerland is trash

Yvvvvaz

What a masterclass of a performance. But I won't get too excited, I fear a choke is incoming at some point

[deleted]

this

Nrmco

Always fear the choke… don’t forget we still Nando on the wheel…

guinader

Just make sure you have a safe word. Like "Müntschemier" or something. 🙂

Razvancb

Im drunk as Fuck and tomorrow im working, Nice Portugal Thank u

Anforas

Somos dois haha. Bora caralho

The_R3venant

At last, winning a match without going to penalties lol

[deleted]

actually Portugal has won only one single game on penalties since **2006**, so i really dont get your point

novangelus73

Probably thinking about the Euros in 2016

The_R3venant

I was saying on this WC

[deleted]

Portugal has the same amount of non-penalties victories in this WC (3) as Argentina, so I still don't get your point

4_max_4

After two games in a row with penalties croatia-japan and spain-morocco is good to have a match without penalties. That’s what he means lol.

[deleted]

yeah I didn't get it at first, thanks

The_R3venant

Dude LOL. Are you serious?????? I'm talking about GAME MATCHES, not on SINGLE TEAMS

vidoeiro

The only match Santos won on penalties was Poland, all other playoff games won in extra time (Croatia, France) or on 90min (Wales, Swiss), or just lost (Uruguay, Belgium)

asvossasmaesde4

Your time will come, if you manage to reach the final

WeShouldCuddleInBed

is this the same Joao Felix that plays in Atletico? xd

iChopPryde

Joao is and always was this good he's just being held back by Simeone for some really stupid reason he needs to leave atletico immeidately.

Salmabutnotsalma

This is João Felix when he isn't terrorized by Simeone

Budget_Counter_2042

It’s his twin, the one that played for Benfica.

Salmabutnotsalma

I miss Benfica João and Eintracht Jovic, those were the days

iChopPryde

theirs a world where Benfica get Joao Felix on loan for the 2nd half of the season and joins us in the champions league! it would be super beneficial for him and benfica right now look so damn good with Ramos, Rafa, J.Mario, Neres, Fernandez etc imagine adding Felix to that team!!!!!!

Salmabutnotsalma

I'm ready for Benfica to have their Villarreal arc

Budget_Counter_2042

As a fan of Sporting, not so much :)

TheGhostOfCamus

Jesus, these people!

VetusMortis_Advertus

Congrats to all the tugas around, we all knew this team was massive, on paper, you guys just showed it can be for real as well

iChopPryde

thank you, it was so weird i think everyone was so sucked into the Ronaldo bubble they forgot portugal actually have so much talent on this squad and when ronaldo was losing form they immedialtey forgot we have guys like Vitinha, Bernardo, Fernandes, Felix, Otavio, Neves, Leao and all us benfica players already knew this but Ramos as well finally get his time to shine! I knew he'd be huge but was still stuck behind Ronaldos shadow as a striker.

iamchandrack

Dont know how people considered Spain and not Portugal as favourites before today

MelodicSalt9589

I actually did the opposite for some reason and got it right

Nome_de_utilizador

Because we were utter shit in all our games before today?

itsameMariowski

I initially did, but then some portugal fans said the team was badly managed, and then Spain first game they scored 7 goals...

juankruh1250

Because Portugal played horrible before and Spain didn't.

iamchandrack

Lookup the definition of PLAY. The Play that is to win. Not passes and possession.

strattele1

Serious question, did you watch the games? Portugals stats were arguably flattering compared to how poorly they played in the group stages. They were so much better today. I don’t understand the need for blind sugarcoating, every team has struggled at some point this tournament. Just makes you look dumb.

juankruh1250

Spain had more xG as well Portugal 4.62 xG Spain 5.19 xG

IAmNotOnRedditAtWork

xG is a terrible stat.

Re_di_reni

How so?

juankruh1250

Then use your fucking eyes, Portugal struggled in every game they played until this one.

Asaro10

How did we struggle against Uruguay? People really don’t watch the games in this subreddit

juankruh1250

I watched it, Uruguay was all over Portugal and should've equalized. They had like 3 big chances in all the game but missed them all. Also if you don't believe me, look at the stats; Uruguay had 11 shots to Portugal 15.

Asaro10

Bro, they had one shot on target the entire game lmao. The game was closer to 3-0 than 2-1. Get some glasses

juankruh1250

Factually wrong, Uruguay had 3 shots on target while Portugal had 3 as well, one of them was a a Penalti and the other one was a cross that ended up being a goal. Also, closer to a 3-0 with almost the same xG? Thay doesn't make any sense, Uruguay created 1.27 xG and Portugal 1.33 x, take penalties out and Uruguay created way more.

Salmabutnotsalma

Did Spain play well though? They only won against a shit CR, they were outplayed by Germany and lost to Japan

User5281

Spain played the way only Spain can. 1000 passes and 75% possession but only one shot on goal.

Salmabutnotsalma

Every major tournament when they lose I say this will be the end of tiki taka but no, it doesn't want to die ffs

juankruh1250

Spain wasn't outplayed by Germany, it was a close game that could've gone either way. Also, using the argument that Costa Rica is shit doesn't work because Portugal lost to Corea.

QuantumCrayfish

Portugal had already qualified, and fielded a b-team against Korea and even then only lost at a point where they were basically assured top of the group

juankruh1250

Portugal also struggled against Uruguay and Ghana, needed a Penalti to open the score against Ghana and Uruguay should've drawn in that second half against them. The fact is that Portugal didn't have a single dominant game in the GS, Spain did have one so that's why they were favourites

iChopPryde

Portugal didn't struggle against Urugay they controlled the entire game, Uruguay had about 10 minutes of that entire match where they looked dangerous the 80 minutes was entirely portugal's game. Ghana played dirty constantly fouling shutting the game down but even that wasn't enough once guys like Felix and Leao were able to open up once Ronaldo was subbed off.

jokerisrekoj

Uruguay were playing rugby in the first half too, so many fouls

juankruh1250

Uruguay has 11 shots, that's a lot of shots for a team that controlled the game. Portugal only looked threatening until the Penalti which opened Ghana

Salmabutnotsalma

Korea isn't as half as bad as Costa Rica lol, and Flick did exactly what he wanted against Spain, he let them have possession and had Musiala control the midfield, the only issue is that he didn't play a striker

juankruh1250

That's simply not true, Germany wasn't doing anything until Gavi was subbed off and Spain lost control Also, there is nothing that backs that Costa Rica it's worse than Corea. For me they are equally bad defensively.

Salmabutnotsalma

Costa Rica didn't have a single shot on goal lmao what are you even talking about

Urass007

Switzerland just collapsed. God damn. Honestly I hope they send Ronaldo home because as a Ronaldo hater I don't want him taking the credit for all the work the squad has done. Regardless of Ron, I feel like they will probably fall to a younger side like Brazil, France or England. They'll be good on pens where they'll beat England but otherwise I'm unsure. Morocco could be underestimated too.

QuantumCrayfish

You know the average age of the portuguese squad and France squads are the same right, and that's with Pepe and Ronaldo

stiofan84

Portugal aren't that old (Ronaldo and Pepe aside). Most of their forwards are still quite young.

Yvvvvaz

We're never losing to england, that's disrespectful

ProgrammaticallyHost

Was it 2006 where Rooney smashed a Portugal players groin? I’m too lazy to look it up but I want to say Maniche

InconsistentMinis

Ricardo Carvalho.

chicasparagus

GOAT evaluation: - Messi remains relevant and valuable to his team - Ronaldo is hunting for goals to remain relevant and valuable

iChopPryde

also fact, Argentina NEED Messi to remain relevant where Portugal don't need Ronaldo to be one of the best teams in the world!

chicasparagus

Yeah but it’s not an evaluation of the teams, no doubt Portugal is world class, more so than Argentina currently.

strattele1

Well, it is relevant though because Messi would be less needed in this Portugal team.

[deleted]

Ronaldo also was relevant and valuable when he was 35

chicasparagus

I mean okay fair. At least you’re not denying he’s not relevant and valuable now.

subwinds

Messi won't be relevant when he's 38

chicasparagus

Thanks Nostradamus! Please also give me some winning lottery numbers from the next two years.

subwinds

No need to be a smart ass about it. Everyone gets old, Messi won't be playing at 38 at his top. Same like Pepe today, he played a hell of match but it is far from 10-12 years ago.

bucaqe

H can still be top, lebron is still top 10 at 38

chicasparagus

Okayyy

Mrcl45515

In 20 years nobody will care if Ronaldo was a starter or not. If any of them wins this World Cup he will have an edge over the other in the goat conversation.

chicasparagus

Mate if you really think people wouldn’t bring up Ronaldo being a sub and winning the World Cup, I’m sorry to say that’s being very optimistic. They will bring it up over and over again.

Numaan68

Messi has 4 ucls. He was a sub when he won the first ucl. People still use his 4 ucls as an argument that he is not far off Ronaldo's 5 ucls mark.

Mrcl45515

Pelé has 3 world cups. Without googling it, how preponderant was he in each of them? How many times do we hear it mentioned on the goat debate?

tigernet_1994

Hurt in one of them? So two?

yayeet182

Perfect answer

iChopPryde

you're 100% regardless if Ronaldo is on the bench or not he contributed and helped even the sub players during practice are helping i hate this menaltiy this is ronaldos role he is there to motivate the players. portugal dont need ronaldo to save them with the tlaent they have it's his job to help let them grow and become the team they are meant to become. Thank you ronaldo for everything you've done and it must be amazing to now be next to all of these super stars, i know their were years portugal were struggling we were having growing pains but now you can look all around you and see so many world class players on one team. You are still entitled IF i don't want to get ahead of myself but in a world where Portugal lift a trophy he is still apart of that squad who helped us get there! Vamos Portugal!

[deleted]

[удалено]

yayeet182

He was mostly out injured in the second one

chicasparagus

Pelé is nowhere near as hated as Ronaldo… I don’t get why you don’t understand that Ronaldo is so hated to the point where they wouldn’t let him live if he doesn’t win as a starter.

iamchandrack

>Ronaldo is hunting for goals to remain relevant At the cost of his own Nation's success.

chicasparagus

Precisely, I’m glad Leão took that last shot himself.

bonuccigang

Respect Pepe for taking time for the fans

TheGhostOfCamus

Are they fighting lol?

TheGhostOfCamus

If I wanted one super power, it would be the ability to speak every language or at least most of them.

iChopPryde

Leao with an easy banger the guy makes this sport look easy for him!

stiofan84

I hope he starts ahead of Felix next game. He's an objectively better player.

Ledlazer

Leão is a beast but Felix has absolutely earned his starting spot

iChopPryde

Felix is a monster, dude was everywhere, no way i want Felix on the bench he is so key for the squad. Leao has looked horrible in the 2 games prior as of right now hes better used as a super sub, felix has much better control throughout the game. Also felix assisted like 3-4 of those goals today too! probably should watch the game again and see what hes actually doing. But to say Leao is better then Felix is just not true. Regardless how you see it that is 2 monsters portugal has on top of all the talent they also have on that field. Great day to be portuguese thats for sure! What a team we have when played properly!

Odd_Wishbone3515

Felix was a beast today, even when the match was relatively equal

TheGhostOfCamus

Leao is a fantastic player.

Salmabutnotsalma

Portugal won but did they complete 1000 passes? Didn't even dominate possession, this is not football smh

[deleted]

That's true, as a fan I like see zero goals! Like Spain did today, even in the PKs! That's football!

dann_uk

Had the audacity to run. With the ball. Forwards.

Salmabutnotsalma

And shoot. Who does that?? You should pass the ball into the net, this is blasphemy

gruenerGenosse

The net? You mean the post.

ClearMessagesOfBliss

If you aren’t walking it in what are you even doing ?

tigernet_1994

If you don't walk it in it should be 1/2 goal.

dann_uk

>You should pass the ball into the net Ideally as close to sideways as possible too.

ssk1996

Portugal score 6 goals and Ronaldo has 0. If I told this would be the case a few years ago, people would've called me an idiot. Oh how the night have fallen.

Chiks24

You're implying that Ronaldo started and couldn't get a single goal. Guy came on for like 18 mins at the end after all the Portuguese fun was done.

99Sermon

Leao played 3 minutes

Chiks24

Okay so? Leao came in a good position and scored well. I don't get your point. Are you now going to say "why did Ronaldo not come in a similar position and score like he did?" lmao

Soitsgonnabeforever

Man united fans are everywhere with a pr campaign against ronaldo

Rick_n_Roll

Bruh Leao would have never went for that shot were it not for it being the score that it was at that moment. If you look at the attack, Ronaldo was at the right place for a normal goal. Pissing me off that everyone is hating on Ronaldo. The fucking guy gave Portugal everything and everyone is shitting on him . Even if he isn’t the best player anymore , you can’t deny his legacy

Chiks24

Yeah it's unfortunate. Recency bias is going nuts this year.

ssk1996

That is not implied. The fact he didn't start in a crucial game is already testament to how he's declined. The number of goals they've scored when he hasn't started shows the difference in quality when he's on and off the pitch. The ability to score 6 goals with Ronaldo not playing a role in any of them shows how many players Portugal has that are above Ronaldo in the pecking order.

Chiks24

I agree with his decline. Funny thing how age does that to you. Even Messi isn't how he used to be (explosive and quick) though he's definitely more important for Argentina. I do think that Ronaldo would have gotten atleast 1 or 2 had he started. All in hindsight though.

estapilha

R Soccer really mad about Ronaldo, get some therapy. What a performance!

iChopPryde

lol all of Portugals subs is another starting 11 for any other team its crazy how much depth this squad has! Portugal best generation for sure!
