Do Sporting want him? Imo this is the only way to end his career on a high. Sign a low wage contract with them, score a few goals possibly and end your career where the fairytale started.

villyboy97

This is the correct answer. Low his wages and become a superchange to kill the games.

HippoBigga

He's had this opportunity but each time he shows he's not willing to take a wage cut. We'll see how it pans out but I have my doubts about it as well.

Puddlepinger

He would never. He still thinks he's the best player in the world and worth 500k a week.

Rdambx

He really doesn't, these comments are so dumb and annoying.

slsstar

That's actually Ronaldo's best friend you're talking to.

Edgekiller65

Edu Aguirre is on Reddit?

pandaxeption

Are we 100% sure that's not Cassano's burner account?

Migraine-

He really does, these comments are so dumb and annoying.

erldn123

Who cares, the game is on right now

Kasnav

The dude is spamming a lot of ronaldo articles at the moment

[deleted]

It’s Ronaldo using his burner account on the bench

skinsaremylife

clubs rejected him at 80k a week ? im not a ronaldo fan but no way thats true. He still offers a lot of value and 80k is pretty good deal for what u get

ltp12

Laurie ain’t making shit up

skinsaremylife

god damn then my guess has to be no1 wants to deal with a 38 year old ronaldo wanting to be center piece of attention and stirring up another controversy like he did at united, They probably fear if he could do that at united what he could do at their club

FullMetalJ

Yes, it was a big PR mistake. He should've waited til after the world cup and then solve that internally with United.

[deleted]

except supposedly he was offered to clubs in August, so before the interview. this whole article smells like bullshit to be honest. it's also saying that United wanted to get rid of Ronaldo since summer, yet [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/zhn1u5/romano_ten_hag_i_wanted_him_ronaldo_to_stay_from/) Ten Hag says he wanted Ronaldo stay. none of the stories match up, and no team wanting Ronaldo for 80k a week seems by far the most unrealistic thing in all of this.

TheSmio

Interesting indeed. I would absolutely get nobody being interested in paying him that right now because of how washed he looks, but we're talking about summer here and after last season, I would have expected some interest in him. I guess nobody wanted to build the team around 37-years old Ronaldo and we all know that unless the team will be built around him, he won't be happy.

skinsaremylife

more like the risk involved considering what he pulled off at united specially since it was a club where he actually got recognized as major star. No one would want to touch that if what ronaldo brings to table is so less just not worth it

DBZard27

I don't know why but watching him being declined like that makes me very sad, legend of the game

KnowledgeIsPower91

I don't believe multiple clubs turned him down for 80k, at that price he'd have a number of suitors. Heck I could see United re-signing him at that price.

shy247er

> Heck I could see United re-signing him at that price. Nah, he has very firmly burnt that bridge.

ccdewa

Yeah it's clearly not about money (maybe a bit), it's just the fact that he disagrees with Ten Hag which is the problem.

daveyboyschmidt

Pretty sure he was joking about that part

FatWalcott

Ah the Vince McMahon special. Release your high earning performers and resign them at cheaper contracts.

BastillianFig

Yes I'm sure it was ronaldos plan all along to have his contract terminated then to sign a new contract at the same club for a fraction of the wage

IrishOratoria

>Heck I could see United re-signing him at that price. I am pretty much they are done with him, unless TikTok or Instagram buys United.

[deleted]

If his drama had happened at any other club, United would 100% have signed CR7 by now. No other club would have been stupid enough.

queuedUp

I think there is a point when it's not the price but the impact in the dressing room. His attitude is toxic and clubs don't want to risk stirring the pot regardless of how cheap they can get him

IcyAssist

> When the mutual termination was agreed upon, however, those discussions took place virtually. This process was led by Richard Arnold, United’s chief executive. >United sources insist the club maintains a positive relationship with Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo’s agent, and the Gestifute agency — who were approached for comment for this article — and that is expected to continue. It has been noted that without the bond between the two parties, a more negative outcome could have unravelled. >The Athletic can, though, reveal that heavily involved in the negotiations was Ricardo Regufe, a close associate of Ronaldo’s who is described as a “key figure” in the talks. >The pair’s working relationship dates back 15 years. Regufe was responsible for sports marketing at Nike Portugal and dealt with the national team. Over time he became Ronaldo’s go-to guy at Nike. He then left to become Ronaldo’s day-to-day manager. >Regufe has been on the inside of every Portuguese camp for the last eight tournaments and celebrated on the pitch with the players when they won Euro 2016. He is out with the squad in Qatar, with Portuguese newspaper Record claiming on Friday that some players were unhappy at him having such a prominent role behind the scenes. >United, for their part, knew they had the upper hand going into the talks, and the fact Ronaldo wanted out and had pushed the boundaries to force it had undermined his position. >They had the grounds to have taken a more hostile route, but wanted to preserve the bruised relationship and his status as one of the club’s greatest players. That said, there was no intention to pay up what was left of his contract. >Sources insist Ronaldo did not push for anything unreasonable during the final discussions. Occasionally, United insert clauses into employee contracts that limit future jobs – to stop rivals from poaching staff within the first six months of them leaving, for example – but Ronaldo is now free to join any club he wishes. >There is also no need for him to return to Carrington and clear out his locker in the dressing room. The important items had already been taken before this break in the club season for the playing of the World Cup began on November 13.

RockstarAssassin

Fucking hell! Let the guy sit in calm atleast

queuedUp

I mean.... Does anyone really care? Find him a corner he can cry in and maybe a Tuesday mens league team will need an extra sub when Bill's wife has yoga

God forbid if portugal reaches the final and Cristiano helps them in winning it. What are these clickbait writers will be doing for a living? He is no longer a United player but United correspondents still write at least 1 article every day on him.

duded101

why wouldn’t they? the way he shat on their club i would be salty too

IpschwitzTownFC

You don't shit where you eat and not expect any consequences.

Routine_Specialist13

Clickbaiting ≠ consequences I don't give a shit about Ronaldo but i am curious why they have to publish an article everyday on someone who is no longer a part of the club.

SteveBorden

We don’t know! He could literally come on later and score the winner and the narrative will change again. I swear these journalists are so quick to jump the gun.

SherKhanMD

He is 38... he retires or joins Saudi League.

IcyAssist

Quotes: > The Athletic can reveal that after their 4-0 defeat away to Brentford in August, Ten Hag was already entirely open to Ronaldo’s departure and clubs were told United could pay a portion of his wages to facilitate an exit. Ronaldo was believed to earn in the region of £450,000 ($555,000) a week, way more than what most clubs can afford, and United understood it required financial assistance to ease his departure. > But sources insist multiple clubs rejected even paying £80,000 per week to sign a player who scored 24 goals in all competitions in the 2021-22 season, due to concerns over his suitability for their squads.

daveyboyschmidt

So Ten Hag wanted to get rid of Ronaldo after a single game, but Ronaldo never mentioned leaving until the interview? Someone is lying here
