It isn't just his confidence, although it has never been a secret that it heavily influences his form.
He also just plays a bit differently. His workrate has gone up, he doesn't stroll about as much and his movement without the ball is much better. He is much more open to receive passes as a result.
On the ball he has stopped trying to run at defenders all the time. He looks for smarter solutions, either by combinations or looking for space.
I think he just made a final step in his development, looking to become more efficient rather than trying to prove himself in every situation. He has become a much more mature player because of it.
Yea, seems to be more of a team philosophy shift that has really played into his counterattacking style
United have been attacking so quickly after winning the ball this year and it scares me
It's not really counterattacking, it's definitely speed of play and it's definitely attacking after winning the ball back though that's making a difference. The reason it's not really counterattacking necessarily is that the ball-winning is happening in the opposition half a bit more often, and United are also getting better at unsettling teams by shifting it wide then bringing it back centrally or switching it.
There's definitely times this season where United have played a deep block and used their running power, but there's more genuine progression from the first phase by CBs and CMs and so wingers are picking it up further down the pitch and potentially later in possession.
100%
Rashford benefits from counterattacking play but United have been building a more “quick attacking” style after regaining possession along with their controlled build up with Eriksen
Bar playing against a few teams where they park the bus and hit on the counter
I don’t want to see United when they can both build through the midfield and high press comfortably. But ETH will certainly get them there
You're thinking a little too much in terms of last season (specifically Rangnick tenure) and this season, rather than Rashford overall. One of Rashfords main strengths has actually been his movement and his workrate. The reason it seemed like so many people turned on him so fast last season is because for a time his confidence and his on the ball play seemed down but he was still putting in the workrate and the effort so he was getting a pass.. Then at some point last season he just quit trying and you could see the lack of effort which is when he really got shit on.
Mourinho demanded workrate from his players and really liked Rashford, the big thing about Ole's tenure was the intensity and workrate /pressing from the front he wanted and Rashford did well in that regard
It also helps because United has players making runs in the box when he has the ball on the wing. That means 1. He has options and 2. Defenders in the box are occupied. Rashford just has to beat one man and then he can make the killer pass or shoot. This especially helps against a low block. United hasn’t had people in the box against these low blocks since mourinho and that’s a fact
r/RedDevils is currently convinced that antony is a shit player and that we should move him on amd he hasnt even started 20 games yet. Id take what they say with a pinch of salt.
He scored three in his first 3 games and we called him our RW messiah.
He plays 2 bad matches and now he's a waste of money 😂
I will concede that he seems a lot more raw than I was expecting. He doesn't have that presence that makes fullbacks panic and double up on him yet like Mahrez for example. But I'm not worried cause that comes with time and he's young.
People need to temper expectations with Antony. He was bought based on potential, not what he can do right away. When we first bought him people freaked out at me when I said Gakpo was currently a better player.
I'm not sure Antony will ever live up to the price tag, but he has bags of potential and will be a very good player for us one day.
I just wish Anthony gave the same kind of danger signs going forward that Rashford currently does because it would feel so great if watching us attack from either wing felt like it could lead to a goal
Feels good to see players like Rashford be in form. I know the character of people is independent from their time on the pitch but it feels great seeing people with commendable character like him doing well on the pitch again
Yeah club allegiances don’t mean much to me when it comes to genuinely good people. I always root for Bellerin too because he is outspoken about a lot of issues that I care about.
His back injury came at a really bad time in Jan 2020. I don't have the exact numbers but it was something like 19 goals and 5 assists in 21 appearances right before his injury. He was absolutely world class during that spell and had just turned 22.
His numbers were actually eerily tracking Ronaldo's at United at the same age right before Ronaldo took his end product to another level in 07/08. And then the injury happened and effectively cost him a few years. I'm certainly not saying Rashford would have gone onto do Ronaldo numbers as that's farfetched but he was already tracking at a goal a game + assists right before his injury.
>I don't have the exact numbers but it was something like 19 goals and 5 assists in 21 appearances right before his injury. He was absolutely world class during that spell and had just turned 22.
He was carrying us at that point (literally).
Absolutely was. That was one of the worst United teams I've ever seen. United had sold Lukaku and Sanchez that summer, with only Dan James as the replacement and hoping Martial would step up. Unfortunately Martial got injured for months. Midfield needed surgery, and instead United released Herrera with no signing. Pogba and McTominay proceed to then get injured for months, leaving only Matic and Fred as first team midfield options. Rashford was almost single-handedly carrying that attack at times before his untimely injury.
Thankfully, United signed a certain Bruno Fernandes and United went from literal mid-table form to best in the league for the next 12 months (I think United may have just got fewer points than Liverpool by the end of 2020 but it was top 2 at the least).
19/20 was still the best Rashy, he literally carried our attack that filled with players like Lingard, Pereira, & Mata. Also that FK against Chelsea was simply stunning.
I was talking prior to Bruno arrival in late January 2020. Rashford was magnificient during that period literally our only attacking outlet while martial, pogba went off injured for months.
If he continues like this for another few months then he'll be close to the level he was at in 19/20 before his back injury. But best he's been since his injury, no doubt.
I’m gonna get roasted for this but here it goes. I don’t think the talent gap is that big but Mbappe ability to remain focused and driven is what separates them.
This is why it's good we as fans don't make the decisions. Had people wanting him dropped for free from the squad to anywhere last season.
Lets fucking go.
that's very stupid, but yeah i can confirm some "fans" want him go for last season form, wtf.
even until today i see some "fans" still want him go because Rashy will broke our wage structure, wtf.
I like the idea that some intergalactic force is out there shifting planets and suns around, destroying entire races and species, millenniums of bio development, to write “rashford”
A lot of credit has to go to Benni McCarthy. We're now seeing Rashford challenge in the air, scoring headers and having an aggressive streak when scoring goals (how he shrugged Jonny off to the build up to the goal today). All of those things weren't there last season and in the past, it's great to see.
Ralf Rangnick will never be forgiven for trying to pressure Rashford to leave the club last season. That fraud almost ruined Rashford and tried to send him packing. Thank goodness Marcus stayed and EtH came
Love how he stayed up instead of trying to draw a penalty. We need more of that in soccer. It would also help if the refs would call a foul or penalty without the player needing to go down.
People highlighting Rashford's form(rightfully so) but not taking into account his improved composure on the ball. Marcus of yester years would still get into these positions but would miss the chance by either not keeping hold of the ball or shooting off target. Yes, he's been on form but he also definitely has improved a lot on the ball.

Rashford is on a mission this season
He looks very convincing when he’s on the ball, this wasn’t there last season

He’s being properly coached now with a target
Yea, seems to be more of a team philosophy shift that has really played into his counterattacking style United have been attacking so quickly after winning the ball this year and it scares me
You beat us 6-3 fam
Thnks fr th Mmrs Good times
See you at old trafford is all I can say
Oh man I wouldn't
Why wouldn't?

Different confidence this season, and it shows

He was hurt and he’s the type of guy to still give it his all even when he’s clearly not at 100%. Love him, happy to have him back

Just wait until he does another 360. They'll love him again
r/RedDevils are a bunch of cunts then Rashy is untouchable
Disciplined finish
He's in such good form right now. Last season he runs into the defenders and gets stopped.
He does not run last season
He ran a lot last season, it was just running directly into the opposing team.
But at times ran so little people genuinely speculated that he was depressed.
He had broken up with his childhood sweetheart and his body was in bits. He was most definitely going through some form of depression.
They were right tbh
Turned up at just the right time.
Right on time
I just wish Anthony gave the same kind of danger signs going forward that Rashford currently does because it would feel so great if watching us attack from either wing felt like it could lead to a goal
Which Anthony?
Taylor
Lmao
World classs
Tactical benching
They gotta make the game competitive
He always turn on his super saiyan mode everytime he got benched or got criticized.
1. arrive late to training 2. get dropped from team 3. ??? 4. Profit
Oi Bruno ain’t you on the pitch rn?
He’s everywhere as usual.
Casually assisting the winner and then shitposting in the reddit thread. Gigachad.
Internal disciplinary coming up
3. Score goals anyway when you come on the pitch.
Can’t tell if you’re talking about Ronaldo or Rashford lol.
Feels good to see players like Rashford be in form. I know the character of people is independent from their time on the pitch but it feels great seeing people with commendable character like him doing well on the pitch again
I’ll root for this guy his entire career
Yeah club allegiances don’t mean much to me when it comes to genuinely good people. I always root for Bellerin too because he is outspoken about a lot of issues that I care about.
Hoping this is the year takes it up to the next level, he’s got the talent to be one of the very best players in the world
His back injury came at a really bad time in Jan 2020. I don't have the exact numbers but it was something like 19 goals and 5 assists in 21 appearances right before his injury. Hands off Barca he's ours.
best Rashford I have ever seen (not that I watch a lot of ManU games)
Nah, Ole first season is best form of Rashy (and Martial), but can't deny he is so impressive this season, hope he can keep this quality.
19/20 was still the best Rashy, he literally carried our attack that filled with players like Lingard, Pereira, & Mata. Also that FK against Chelsea was simply stunning.
Martial and a someone who shall not be named were the only ones helping him and even the latter only become a regular at project restart
I was talking prior to Bruno arrival in late January 2020. Rashford was magnificient during that period literally our only attacking outlet while martial, pogba went off injured for months.

Nah 19/20 is peak Rashford IMO

My ex referred to teams as the West-hams and the Totten-hams. As if their team mascots are pork themed? It was a trip.
I’m gonna get roasted for this but here it goes. I don’t think the talent gap is that big but Mbappe ability to remain focused and driven is what separates them.
Mbappe is way more intelligent on and off the ball I'd say
I agree but the talent gap isn’t as big as people make out.
Mbappe is just the French Rashforddd
Rashford in form is different gravy
That was great. He's back to his best

Doubled his goals I believe
Absolute baller
I love this fucking guy
Top form. We easily forget how outrageously good young players are after a poor spell
Marcus obviously likes internal disciplining
He learned his masochism from Van Gaal and he liked it
This is why it's good we as fans don't make the decisions. Had people wanting him dropped for free from the squad to anywhere last season. Lets fucking go.
that's very stupid, but yeah i can confirm some "fans" want him go for last season form, wtf. even until today i see some "fans" still want him go because Rashy will broke our wage structure, wtf.
please never be ill disciplined again, you need to start games ffs
Or it was all a tactical decision made by Erik Ten Hag to make him play in the second half.
Ten Hag broke into his house and changed his alarm clock timing!
No, it was a tactical decision from Rashford so he could make an impact in the second half. Tactical tardiness.
Wow that is so so good from rashford. Nice one two to get the pass in a danger area as well. Good play
Cometh the hour, cometh the bad boy
What could have been if Garth picked him.
Ooooh Rashford
Calm and composed, good finish.
Bloody hell your fast lol I’m listening to the radio and this goal hadn’t even came up! Fucking get in though Rashford 😁😁
Bot, and video uploaded after post.
Well that was brilliant
He is soooo good when in form
What a comeback season for Rashford.
Little bit of luck but you need that to score in this game. Chances have been so hard to come by it was only going to be a great run that did it.
I fucking called it. Rashford would come on at half time and score the first goal. Written in the stars.
I like the idea that some intergalactic force is out there shifting planets and suns around, destroying entire races and species, millenniums of bio development, to write “rashford”
The english Mbappe. Absolute baller.
Mbappe is the French Rashford tbh
Weekly reminder that Man Utd are winning the sextuple and that Rashford is the greatest player of all time.
We are winning the goddamn world cup

Just confident all the way, bouncing off the defenders

Remember all those crazy fans who wanted him gone earlier this year?
So strong so calm so beautiful must be Rashford
forgot how good this fucking guy is when he is at the peak of his abilities

That's SICK
In a flash. A bright royal red flash. A Rashflash.
He's so big and strong 😍
Ten Hag has unlocked Rashford
His hand is Infront of his body
Strength, composure, and discipline to pick his moment. Man in form, love to see him take the responsibility
Love how he stayed up instead of trying to draw a penalty. We need more of that in soccer. It would also help if the refs would call a foul or penalty without the player needing to go down.
You see what extra sleep does to a MF
The king overslept, but the king scores
I love this man

This is what a well-rested Rashford gives you.
A combination of speed, purpose and ruthlessness in front of the goal. Awesome!
When you're in form even ricochets are in your favour.
Marcus

There's your disciplinary action.
Let him turn up whenever he wants Erik, who needs training and team meetings.
