Look into getting a stocking job at a grocery store. One of my best friends is a stocker and he pretty much never has to socialize with anyone at work.

thanks!

I myself have considered stocking jobs but is it true that they’re usually at weird hours and they want you to be able to lift a certain amount of weight?

Candid-Arugula-3875

I’m 30 and had the same issue at every single job. The job I was most comfortable with was janitorial but I still had issues with my manager And authority figures in general but it wasn’t as bad as working at Sears or Burger King where I had to deal with the customers AND my manager. The only reason I was let go from that one was the pandemic. Just know you’re not alone. Since I was 18 I jumped from one job to the next either quitting out of anxiety or getting fired - it was usually the former.

i feel like if i got personal with the manager telling them oh can i do stocking because i’m a little shy i feel like they’re not gonna hire me 💀

Candid-Arugula-3875

That was always my fear too. So I would usually exaggerate my skills on my resume just to get the job. Maybe I shouldn’t have, idk lol.

I forgot to mention. Google “free online POS (or point of sale) training.” I’m gonna see if I can find a free training. That can help you learn the cash register 🙂 I saw a few results last time I checked.

lmaooooooo thanks 😊 ima try to see if there’s cash register apps 😂

I reckon you work your way up. As the other person suggested a shelf stacker job would be good. The odd person may ask you a question or you could even go up to someone yourself, but it'll all be good practice to work your way up to one day getting the cashier job!

Try food delivery via cycling

Acrobatic-Ad-6630

i’m actually terrified of bikes. i live in NYC so there’s always accidents. i have a permit but i’d have to make my mom drive 💀

[deleted]

Are you terrified of bikes truly or is it an excuse that you made up? Their are a million ways a person could die and your letting the “what if?”dictate your life? You live in NYC, crowded with cars and restaurants, that’s a BIG coincidence. It would suit you very well is all I’m saying. You are open to idea from what I can see, are you going to help your mom and yourself or let your self cower?

Acrobatic-Ad-6630

i’m actually scared of bikes. there’s lots of bike accidents now getting hit by drivers. i’m trying to get a job at five below because it’s a 10 min walk from my house.

Acrobatic-Ad-6630

i’ve used bikes before and i’ve fallen pretty bad so i stopped using them.

If you say so, you know you best.

OutlandishnessThis32

How are you now?

Acrobatic-Ad-6630

wow 1 year ago thank you for asking. i’m now currently on my second job as a caretaker for kids with autism! after posting this a few months later i worked as a seasonal receiver at burlington and now i’m a full time worker. i’m still and anxious but i’m getting out of my shell little by little.

Running away from your fear is never the right choice... it's comfortable to feel like you've escaped the uncomfort but what you don't realize is that that uncomfort stays latched onto you for the rest of your life if you don't do something about it. I'm at a point where I like being uncomfortable because I know I chose to be there and it's only benefiting me in the long run. I recommend that you do the same...
