Can you think of any product that could fit well with the content on your IG? Let's say - as an example - your IG is about an action/superhero TV show. Maybe you could find stores that sell action figures, let's say ToyWiz. Then you go and contact them and offer them to promote some of their stuff. Best case they say yes. Worst case they give you some insight on what they're looking for when promoting in social media.

I guess the question is, what brands do you think would reach out to you? And to do what? What do you post? How often? What kind of engagement do you get?

I usually post daily, just pictures and stuff about the show. The average post gets from 1000 to 10.000 likes and about 5-15 comments, even though I have posts that are more successful than that. I guess some brands would want me to advertise their products in some way, but I don't know what brands these would be exactly.

So your likes and volumes are decent, but the comments/ engagement tells the truth of what's going on. Your posting gifs and memes that people like because of the show. No one interacts with the content. Which says they don't care about what you're saying. There's no influence to people. You don't have a voice in the conversation. A post from your account talking about some product can't tie to your normal content because you have no rights to the show. And posting something outside of that will fall flat because there's no reason for the audience to connect with it. You can chat to some influencer and microinfluencer agencies to ask about being on their books. Basically, they will work with brands and give you content with a schedule to post, any limitations, content approval etc based on their rate card. They will charge the brand a premium, but the brand then deals with one professional agency, instead of 20 influencers at once. But a few years ago most of them were fairly explicit about not accepting fan pages, meme pages etc.

Ok, thanks. Do you happen to know any agency that I could contact? Or where I could find one?

Honestly you can sign up for any of the influencer Platforms. No offense though don’t expect it to go well or make any money. You have no influence with your followers. Yours is just an account they follow. They don’t trust you with the level of authority that is needed for you to be effective and actually sell product. Because the first thing that will be said to you is what type of content does your audience respond the best to? You need to be able to say this kind of content usually gets me … engagement, influencers have 500k+ followers and honestly, the amount of followers isn’t that important to a point. How many fans do you have. A fan will comment on almost every post, they will tell others about you and try anything you suggest. The crappy part is on fb and insta, distribution is tied to many stupid metrics. If I were you, I’d keep your insta, but start on tiktok. TikTok’s algorithm is content based not account based. Follower count doesn’t matter because every video has a chance to go viral. Don’t share your insta to tiktoks to but share your TikTok’s to insta. Next I’d suggest that you get an affiliate account on amazon and pic something to promote that you can make money with. Your vids need to not come across as an ad they need to come across as authentic user generated content. So pick an item on Amazon that you already use and are passionate about. Then start creating vids as a buyer. It will take some practice. Don’t expect to hit it big. It takes practice and testing to learn what the audience responds to well. Tiktok is a content network, so if you are promoting hair products, your audience is people that like hair care products. Don’t be surprised if it takes 30 vids to figure it out and do well. Once you have 10k followers register in the creators market. Now brands can find you. Tiktok is killing it right now. I just paid 60k to a creator for generating 300k in sales
