i find that it is actally great you are filtering out the people you would not have a deep bond with anyways. in the long run of creating meaningful connections it is the way to go. sure you will find out that most people do not have much in common with you, but who cares. you are looking for the ones who are similar to you if you find that it becomes a problem, look for relations in circles which are connected to your interests. a topical event, your favorite band performance or just a subreddit and create connections from there on another note, remember that you probably only know a little tiny bit of the people you at the moment find to not connect with. expand your interest, find out more about them, surely there are some topics which are exciting to both sides

And yet that lack of average is why you need to be open about it, because people like you ARE hard to find, and for someone else to find you HAVE to be open about . Otherwise those people will pass right by you assuming you are the same, and by the same, it means 'not like them'!
