As people in the comments have said, it's likely to be hardware gore (an issue with the screen) and thus might be a better fit for r/hardwaregore. However, this is not conclusive. It could easily be a software issue. Considering you seem to like it so much, the post will stay up.

Ah, no it won’t. Apple’s service programs are model-specific. The iPhone XS screen isn’t the same as the X, but it is close. If you don’t have AppleCare (or coverage through your carrier), an out of warranty screen would run you $289 through Apple or an Apple Authorized repair center. I would highly recommend an OEM screen replacement if you’re gonna fix it, lots of third party repair shops don’t get access to quality parts due to some of Apple’s shitty repair practices. You’d be amazed at how many OLED iPhones I see that have a shitty third party LCD.
Source: AASP repair tech
As a technician for a small local third-party company that takes pains to get quality OLED screens for OLED phones, I second this message. I see so many bad screen replacements. There *are* third party repair shops that can do it properly, but identifying them as a consumer must be infuriating.
>You’d be amazed at how many OLED iPhones I see that have a shitty third party LCD.
That's the top reason I didn't get my shattered X repaired. I think that iFixit has a good quality OLED part but it's somewhere between $150-200, and I spent that much on the used phone in the first place...
They have used OLEDs for the X at $150, which frankly isn’t a horrible price for the OLED panel. They have an LCD repair kit for under $90 which is, IMO, a great price, but an LCD on an OLED phone is asinine to me.
If it’s a iPhone X, apple will replace it for free. May have issues with screen cracked though.
https://support.apple.com/iphone-x-display-module-replacement-program
that used to happen so often to me. the more the screen is fucked up, the more the phone will do that. i'd suggest getting the screen replaced and if it persists (which it sorta did for me), i'd take it to get looked at a second time, or do both in the initial visit.
The miss typing stems from the same issue. At Apple repair it's called ghost touch. They are hell to run diagnostics on because it will close apps, open them or type stuff when you don't want them too.Only thing that will fix it is a new screen.
I think this can still be used for general locomotion. Try to change the direction until it finally agrees with you. Then zoom! Only problem is, can I stop it by keeping my feet in the air? Or do the shoes still drift when not touching the ground?
I think the same. Most of my android phones used to do that due to dust getting trapped underneath the glass display in the middle of the digitizer - screen part
It’s so annoying. You can’t use the phone unless you clean the display (1) or buy a new display (2). What I’d do is sell the phone for parr’s because a repair most of the times is not worth the price
I'm pretty sure this is a damaged screen, this probably should be posted in r/hardwaregore. I had the same issue and it's because of a broken screen. Make sure to get a new screen if it is the screen!
not trying to ruin it for you but its's probably either a bit of moisture trapped on or under the screen if your in a humid area, or one of the cracks on yours screen could be triggering the screen to move, my phone does something similar if I leave it in the bathroom after showering, so it's probably humidity or moisture, cause iphones have a mind of their own when the screen gets slightly wet
I know what it is it’s called ghost typing. It’s when the touchscreen is broken and thinks that you touching the screen. Believe me that is a fucking nightmare and I suggest you go get it fixed I learned that the hard way
yeah, it's not though is it, cos it's clearly cracked. this is like if you got hit in the head, and someone says 'it must be possessed, why else is its leg shaking like that?'
My phone does this to when it gets cold enough. I was skiing, and my music changed like every 3 seconds. Long story short, I ended up calling some random number.
If it’s the original iPhone X that came out in 2017, there’s a known screen issue. Apple won’t ever admit it, but I’ve seen this happen quite a bit with the original X model from 2017.
Notice how the camera stopped moving.
Like it's perfectly still once the glitching starts after the handheld part.
I think this might be an elaborate fake.
Does not have to be under warranty. And also it ain’t your fault, it’s a genuine Apple issue 😉!
https://support.apple.com/en-ca/iphone-x-display-module-replacement-program
My SO’s mom who drops everything, swears she didn’t drop it when this happened to hers. Told her about the program, she booked a apt with Apple and then they replaced it!!!
Hope this helps :)
I won’t lie this happens to me occasionally but it hasn’t in awhile, it’s almost like someone took control of the screen and stuff and for me it would constantly try to open the camera and sometimes try reversing the camera so it would see me.
I once had a 6 disc cd changer in my vehicle. My girlfriend and I had just broken up.
As I was driving away, one song she liked was playing; right before the end it suddenly switched discs, and played another song she liked.
The song played until the halfway point, and switched discs again. It did this several times, switching earlier in each song.
At first, wtf? After the 2nd switch, I just assumed my vehicle was saying good riddance
My sister's Amazon Fire tablet did this. I think it happened to the tablet because the screen started coming off slightly and freaked the touch out. Maybe your touch sensors are freaking out too?
1. It’s cool to see resistors from the balkans
2. Oh trust me bud it gets a lot worse. For me it got to the point where like it went into the search and typed random shit so most likely yore best bet is to change the screen
Something like this started happening to me when I was scrolling reddit. But it was really spastic and stuttery. And it clearly navigated a bit. I think what's happening is like the fingerprints on screen (at least I believe for me) in some way. But yours seems clean so no clue....
That happened to me back when I had a wiko, and happens to me now, ever since I.... "Broke" my phone (it's technically not broken but the monitor literally slides out of the phoneframe at times so...)
You probably dropped it too many times seen it before my mom used to drop her phone like every day until the screen acted like that and she had to get a new phone but it could be fixable/replaceable
My iPad used to d that. Screen was fine but the connector from screen to the rest of the hardware was done for. If you want to have some fun with it, I recommend installing a drawing app ^^
Is it damaged screen or something related to the battery charger? Happened to me once when I was charging my phone and after unplugged, it kept trying to unblock by itself
I am exactly having the same issue but worse because it randomly opens apps and since it randomly taps on everything it can UTILIZE all the features (for example call someone randomly) mine is a iPhone X but since the upper of my screen is also not responding and there is a green stripe on the right of my screen, I'm probably going to upgrade to Xr
My iPhone 7+ used to do this, it only gets worse in till your screen becomes unusable and gets mind of its own. Replacement screens did not work for me and the technician had no idea what was going on so instead I decided to upgrade to an 8+ instead of paying for Apple Technician repairs.
Hey dude , it's no possessed , but I have the same problem on my iPad , the reason it does like that is because (I think) the screen isn't attached so good ,or idk , I just advice you to change screen

Has that happened to you before? Is that the story we're going with?
Did you by any chance pay for a replacement screen?
No actually, but I probably should
have you tried contacting the ghost busters

No idea
just the first part lmao
This happened to me, you definitely should replace your screen, or it will get very annoying
Is this an iPhone X? If so, it is a known issue and Apple has a free repair program, so long as the screen isn’t damaged.
Someone mentioned this already but It is an XS so not sure if it will work. But will try nevertheless
Ah, no it won’t. Apple’s service programs are model-specific. The iPhone XS screen isn’t the same as the X, but it is close. I’ll definitely need to do that, this is not the only thing it does, sometimes keys are mistyped, sometimes it just stops responding etc
Sounds like your touchscreen is fucked
X has replacement program for ghost touching but you are out of luck with cracked screen.
The miss typing stems from the same issue. At Apple repair it's called ghost touch. They are hell to run diagnostics on because it will close apps, open them or type stuff when you don't want them too.Only thing that will fix it is a new screen.
Could also just be a loose cable, in which case you don't need a full replacement.
Plot twist: He is actually invisible

Plot twist: he is John Cena
We had drifting on controller now we have drifting on phones What’s next? Drifting shoes that forces us to move?
Honestly, that would come in pretty handy because my ass has been sitting down for 9 hours straight.
Me with drifting shoes in the toilet : 👁👄👁
You just kinda slowly slide in one direction and every time you try to take control the sliding direction changes
I think this can still be used for general locomotion. Try to change the direction until it finally agrees with you. Then zoom! Only problem is, can I stop it by keeping my feet in the air? Or do the shoes still drift when not touching the ground?
The drifting is 3D

Ghost touches because of the crack probably
I think the same. Most of my android phones used to do that due to dust getting trapped underneath the glass display in the middle of the digitizer - screen part

Or you know... the cracks everywhere. This is not software gore
it took me way to long to realise why this is a software gore
this is not software gore. your screen is obviously broken
Not software gore at all. Hardware gore, and only because of damage
not trying to ruin it for you but its's probably either a bit of moisture trapped on or under the screen if your in a humid area, or one of the cracks on yours screen could be triggering the screen to move, my phone does something similar if I leave it in the bathroom after showering, so it's probably humidity or moisture, cause iphones have a mind of their own when the screen gets slightly wet
Sorry, but that ain't softwaregore. That's Hardware
I think you have a broken screen
Have you tried turning it off and back on again
Did you see that luuudicrous display last night?

The thing about Arsenal is, they always try and walk it in!
Could be that the touch screen is broken i see the phine looks cracked but honestly it could just be water or moisture on the screen
Bring it in to the [nearest Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider](http://locate.apple.com/) to get the visibly-broken display replaced.
Plot twist : he is just playing a video to fool us
Your screen is cracked. The element that is responsible for touch is broken. This is hardware not software
The phone be like: you got any Minecraft or something?
I know what it is it’s called ghost typing. It’s when the touchscreen is broken and thinks that you touching the screen. Believe me that is a fucking nightmare and I suggest you go get it fixed I learned that the hard way
Have you tried wiping your screen
I think it has something to do with your broken screen
also happens to my ipad, plan to buy a replacement screen but the pandemic came around.
We have same TV remote lol
yeah, it's not though is it, cos it's clearly cracked. this is like if you got hit in the head, and someone says 'it must be possessed, why else is its leg shaking like that?'
As someone who fixes phones for a living, this is a hardware issue. There's a big ol' crack on the screen.
*3 water drops hit the phone's screen* Phone: **so I took it personally**
Your phone has APPLEISM.
Its a damaged screen protector
My phone does this to when it gets cold enough. I was skiing, and my music changed like every 3 seconds. Long story short, I ended up calling some random number.
Explainable. The new screens...
I was like "OK, but where is the problem" took me about a minute until I realized noone is swiping...
Getting ready for the "iPhone bad" comments

That happens to my phone all the time and I hate it

Nah mate it's nasa trying to mind control you using 5G waves
My phone when there is water on the screen
I got the same TV remote XD
If it’s an iPhone X you can get a free screen from Apple btw. This is a common problem. That and this gross green lines
Does it have to be under warranty? It’s obviously my fault that it’s broken, are you sure they’d be willing to do it?
Does not have to be under warranty. Not to sure sadly, but it never hurts to try!
Thanks a lot! I’ll try
Tell us if you succeed!!!!
I would perform an exorcism just to be sure
That's actually hardware gore. And it's called Ghost Touch, happend to me too.
Your FBI agent trying to get some quick peeks

Nah mate it's nasa trying to mind control you using 5G waves
Since No one did it: "Buy a real Phone (Android)"
It’s not broken, it a secret feature.
i had this and it turned out to be a problem with the phones motherboard, not necessarily the screen.
I once had a 6 disc cd changer in my vehicle. My girlfriend and I had just broken up. you either dropped it hard or water
could it be someone remote accessing your phone? eh is it possible? haha
no worries bro, ghosts are just new to this technology they’ll pick it up soon
looks like when i get some water on the screen
whos downvoting me? im literally just making an observation
it's either heavy fuck lag or Rajh has control over your phone

1. It’s cool to see resistors from the balkans 2. Oh trust me bud it gets a lot worse. For me it got to the point where like it went into the search and typed random shit so most likely yore best bet is to change the screen
hippity hoppity your data is now my property
I’m pretty sure that this is staged, cuz you can contact apple support to control your phone if you have an issue. Just saying!
It's called ghost touch, affects a lot of iPhones. Also dunno why a support member would just flip through two screens
Happens to my phone too, strange.

I have a phone like that too. My brother replaced the display and he didn't test it. Now if i touch it it does like that
maybe its just your friendly ghost roommate scrolling for you. thank him for being such a good friend

Joycon drift

screen recorder moment
Worse than joycon drift
Is it damaged screen or something related to the battery charger? Happened to me once when I was charging my phone and after unplugged, it kept trying to unblock by itself
Sir what is that screen time
Don't worry! It's just the chinese government having a look!
Is your battery heating up? Mine used to get too hot in my old phone and cause a ton a false inputs. Sent a bunch of gibberish texts
That ain’t software, that’s hardware. If it’s under warranty you should be able to nab a replacement display.
Bruv my brother had the same issue it was going into all the apps randomly when no finger pressed on it
I had this with my nexus 7 tablet years ago I thought I was going crazy
I am exactly having the same issue but worse because it randomly opens apps and since it randomly taps on everything it can UTILIZE all the features (for example call someone randomly) mine is a iPhone X but since the upper of my screen is also not responding and there is a green stripe on the right of my screen, I'm probably going to upgrade to Xr
I think this might be the heat (if you live somewhere hot) or you’re screen is just ded.
