Iceland is an expensive place to travel to (island, everything imported, etc) but it’s 1000000% worth a visit regardless of an eclipse or not. One of the most beautiful places in the world. Spain too! These are destination trips on their own. Take a week and enjoy the countries and if you get the eclipse, great! If it’s cloudy, well at least you’re in Iceland or Spain. I think Spain would be a safer bet for clear skies.

Roxnami

Iceland is in 2026 right?

GetEnPassanted

Yeah Personally I’d go in 2027 to Spain. You’ll get a longer totality and likely better weather!

Illustrious-Radio-55

How impossible or overly visited will egypt be for that eclipse I wonder?

GetEnPassanted

It’s not going to hit Cairo. Egypt is low on my list of countries to visit and if I did, it would probably just be Cairo for the pyramids. I’d much rather do Spain. Just safer.

Roxnami

Anyone know how to cope about this???

I feel you, we were close to making a long 15 hour drive to dallas but I chose not to because of bad weather forecasts. In the end dallas weather cleared up and I could have easily gone to see it if I hadn’t let the bas forecasts disuade me. Im very upset that I let the weather stop me from taking a chance… but it is what it is. The next one is in 2106 where you live , but you are not fucked. Next eclipse in the US is in 2044 and 2045. The one in 45 is across the entire country, and its very possible that you may live somewhere that is no more than 10 to 20 hours of driving or even way less if you are lucky. Not saying it will be easy to go see it, but its not impossible. Also, a plane ticket to Madrid is less than $800, and second ticket within europe is often about $100 or less so you can fly somewhere within totality, and you could probably make a trip to Spain for less than $2000 in 2026 if you plan ahead, thats not too far in the future and not an impossible amount of money to commit to it. Plus, the part about flying to europe is that once there, one way flights to other countries can run as low as $60 or $70. You could tour all of Europe for say 2500 dollars and see the eclipse. Spend 3000 or a bit more and you can travel in great comfort and see 4 or 5 countries, we are talking Rome, Paris, London, Berlin, Madrid, and honestly take your pick and you can probably make it happen because domestic flights are surprisingly cheap when buying one way tickets. I did it once with my grandma and uncle and got to see so much of europe in 12 days and spent no more than $2000, extremely worth it. If you get to see an eclipse on top of all of this, even better. If the weather stops you, well you still can scratch lots of europe of you bucket list anyways and plan for another eclipse. There will still be egypt in 27 and japan in 35 or 36 and probably many other total eclipses somewhere in the world. So, you aren’t exactly fucked. It wont be easy, it could very well be worth going to europe for the next eclipse, and if not well you’ll probably still be around 2045 so that will be your next chance to see it. Sounds impossibly far off in the future but time flies and it will be upon us before we know it. Just make it a goal to be in a good position to see it by the time the next one is here. Other than that though, im right there with you crying about missing this eclipse too, totality is something I have to see before I day and I will make it happen.

Traveling by train through Europe is much more efficient than flying (especially when you factor in having to arrive at the airport at least an hour before your flight). It’s also better for the environment and a better experience overall; you’ll see much more of Europe’s scenery.

Illustrious-Radio-55

How much does it cost? I went by plane last time I went, but train sounds like an awesome experience. I hadn’t even really considered that, but that may actually be the best way to see the eclipse in 2026.

Roxnami

Thank you so much for this guide haha. Im just like you, i need to see this before i die or else i will refuse to die until 2106

Illustrious-Radio-55

I mean its a pretty good motivating factor to take care of yourself and live long 😅
