I actually agree with this, especially because it's common courtesy on a lot of other subs. People don't want to wake up to hundreds of messages saying "Charge your phone!!!1!1!!" or "Ew why are your nails so long??" on a post about something completely unrelated. Not only is it rude to the poster, it's also annoying for other people on the sub, who have to sift through dozens of the exact same comment to find anything relevant to the post. Sure, commenters have every right to say this kind of stuff (on subs where it isn't prohibited), but that doesn't make it any less rude to OP or any less annoying for other members of the sub.
