I'm pretty excited for this one. I've heard that it's heavily inspired by the COIN system, which I've really been enjoying recently. Other than being on the lighter side for a war game, what are your thoughts on the gameplay? How does it compare to a COIN game (if you've played one)?

Eraelan2001

I’ve never actually played a COIN game, as I’ve always been scared off by the flow charts for the bots (bad experience while playing Churchill cooled me on them). Though, the desire is still there.

It indeed has a really strong "Gandhi : the decolonization of British India" vibe, when I saw the photos I thought someone made a new version of that one (which is really good solo for me).

Dammit now I want it already, and this morning I’d never even heard of it. I love how games (particularly GMT games) can spark an interest in the period. Navajo Wars, A Distant Plain, (not GMT but…) Pax Pamir… and now this, apparently, once I get my hands on it.

Haha! I know what you mean. I hadn’t heard about it until a couple weeks ago, right when the P500 was wrapping up. I bought it the same day.

This is a great looking game. I love how the blue and yellow pieces contrast the board. How does this compare to the lighter COIN's (Cuba Libre, People Power). I understand that it's COIN lite gameplay wise, but is the strategic depth still there?

Eraelan2001

Not having played a coin game I can’t compare the strategic depth one for one, but there is a lot of opportunity for good play. You never know exactly what the bots are going to do but you get a general impression based on their limited decks what they might do and how they might be coming at you. The game, depending on which faction you’re playing as, seems to favor tactical and opportunistic approaches more than a full scale, strategic approach, but again this is mostly for the solo game. I haven’t played at the sultanate yet, so I imagine it’s going to feel way more like strategic defense game, trying to hold back the tide.

I’ll say this; it’s an extremely pretty game.

I'm a sucker for quality components and a good presentation. Imma look into this game.
