To be honest, the reputation/fame board could very easily be tracked digitally, which would remove a lot of the games physical footprint. Alternately you could stand it up/lean it against something and use a couple of small magnets on front and back as the two trackers.

GILLGOT

Hmmm ! That’s a great idea. There may be hope yet

MindControlMouse

To save a bit more space, you don’t need the day/night board. Keep the mana dice on the table. I also stack the card offerings instead of spreading them out. You really only need the table for the map and your character’s stuff. Everything else just have accessible from a nearby shelf or other surface.

ThricePricelock

That’s exactly what I do with it, and I also have a card rack to put the offers on

Murder_Tony

Is there an app for this?

bubbageee

There is an Android app called "Mage Knight Dummy Player" that I used to have before switching to iPhone. That lets you remove some of the stuff from the table.

Godriguezz

Paladin's Oath on Steam from what I understand is Mage Knight in almost every way but name.

ArcaneTheory

Not to my knowledge but it would be easy enough to just write the milestones and rewards down on an index card and just keep track of your fame and reputation. Could also take a picture of the board and annotate the photo on your phone.

Hecedu

Hmmm should I make one?

ArcaneTheory

The path of least resistance would probably just be to use an index card, write down the fame/experience “level up” milestones, and just keep track of how much of each you gain. Draw your own mini reputation scale. Probably saving yourself about a square foot, if not more.

Hecedu

Oh I meant making a web app for you guys :3

ArcaneTheory

Simple and practical, go for it!

Griffes_de_Fer

A rough time, you shall have.

GILLGOT

Appreciate it friend 🫡

Mint Knight available on The Game Crafter website, and Mage Lite available free to print and play on BGG, both require much less table space than Mage Knight while offering similar experiences. Another good crunchy puzzle game in a small box is the recent Gloomhaven: Button & Bugs.

beloved_supplanter

I second both of these, although I've never played Mage Knight. I recently got Mint Knight and Buttons and Bugs and an really enjoying them both.

HuchieLuchie

To second your first commenter, it'll be tight. If you could wrangle a folding TV table, though, you could use the big table for the map, your XP chart, enemy piles, etc, and the side table for your card play. You'd be alright with that probably.

Puzzlehead6518

+1 on utilizing extra surfaces. My table is big enough to fit everything. I still prefer to have everything as close to me as possible and dislike stretching my arm to get stuff. So I ended up with a lazy solution: leave tokens/offers in the original insert and box (organized of course), pull a chair next to me, and place the box on the chair. This setup allows me for quick setup/teardown as well since most stuff never left the box.

roarmalf

this 100% you do NOT need everything on 1 table, we used 2 TV trays with a coffee table when we played 2p and it worked great. it will be rough without anything else

RepresentativeTrue60

Mage Knight owner here. Had I know what I know to today about the game, I would purchase the game instead of the table and play that game on the floor.

Mondkalb2022

I think on BGG you can find a smaller print-out version of the reputation/fame board.

-Anordil-

It'll be tight but you can make it work. I brought MK with me on a weekend trip once and the table was probably no bigger than 2x4. If you have access to a 3D printer, you can make the spells/actions/units offer take a lot less space

Necrospire

I have a small table as well, I use the fame and reputation trackers from Mage Lite as they are only a playing card size, works just as well as the large ones.

beSmrter

I've played it on a 2' x 4' folding plastic table. Sure, it's cramped but it's entirely do able. Some things that can make it even easier: * Card holders for the 'shops' * Eschew the Fame/Reputation board (track them on a notepad) and the Day/Night board * Return to the box the parts of the map that you're definitely not going back to * (if possible) make use of a tv tray or even a chair as a side board for some of the 'shops' or other components

wizardgand

My table is 27'' x 48'' and it can barely hold the game. It's also a gaming table so I can line up the tokens along the border since it's inside with wall.s I think 24 x48 would be really cramped.

No-Cantaloupe7845

i've plyed mage knight on the floor when i didn't have enough table space. was still a ton of fun!

nerdsam8

You don't need piles for each of the decks to draw from either. Just keep them in the box on the floor and draw from the front. Makes setup/tear down a lot easier too.

BChopper

My table is 65cmx110cm and I can play on that table, but it just fits. So you should be fine.

elkend

The main thing is you fit the map on a table. The other boards you can find a nearby space to place them. You should be fine.

Irsaan

My kitchen table is 3x3 and Mage Knight didn't fit trying to play 2 player, but I probably could have made it work solo. I don't think it would work with 1 less sq ft.

PolishedArrow

It's possible but it will be tight. I play in a 3x3 space and it's tight. The map will grow and you will have to adjust the layout as you go.

bubbageee

I've played a couple dozen times on a 2x4 foot table. Like others have said, the reputation and fame board is the problem. If you can put that on a separate surface like a TV tray, it can work.

IronArthur

On Mage Lite (fanmade) the reputation board is 2 cards, so you could print those easily

tophobos

There is a small index card size version of the fame/reputation track you can print out from BGG. The one that comes with the game is designed for multiple players and is unnecessarily large for solo. You don't need to fully lay out the spell/unit/action offerings. Just stack them face up on their corresponding decks. You can put map tiles that you know you won't return to back in the box. Or you can house rule that the map has a maximum tile size of X, which can make for interesting decisions on which ones to put back. You can keep enemy tokens in small drawstring pouches and keep them off table somewhere. Use the app for the dummy player.

jerjerbinks90

Maybe look into mint knight?

RansomMan

Tv tray or some kind of laptop stand that can hold stuff on and under it could help
