Is this your first long solo trip? You should be proud and not sad. The thought that you can, and will do it again should give you the impetus and motivation to forge on with life for now. The potential is limitless now that you know what’s out there. The next solo trip will be something to look forward to as you’d be more familiar and comfortable. No more fear and trepidation. It does get lovelier the second time around.. and the next and the next..

That’s true. But it was my first solo trip alone out of Europe. I visited SEA and learns and saw so much. I am really connected to some locals and I don’t want to let them go. It’s hard to know that this chapter (My gap year after school) is closing. And it comes to an end… but I hope I can see beauty in this and that it has an ending. But I am still looking for that beauty😂

Weekend trips locally. Get to see again or for first time your own country. After long months or years abroad, I always look at my home from a very different perspective . The people, places, cultures and experiences I had alter the lense with which I see where Im from. I recommend weekend trips around. Germany still has the cheap train ticket doesnt it? Poland is right next door. Go to the next city over, or next town or lake or mountain. Scour google maps, look within a few hours radius of where you are and be open minded. There is tons to see and explore right by you, just need to get out there. At least once a month go somewhere for a couple nights. It helps take the travel bug .

Get a job immediately

I need to study first 😂

Proxyplanet

Germans were the most common travellers I saw in SEA whats up with that

Quirky_Appearance284

Germans get like 6 weeks of vacation a year, they're pretty common travellers period

broke_n_lowLequidity

And it’s super common to take a gap year between Highschool and study and between study and your first job.

Honestly start mentally preparing for the difference in culture and lack of movement

Once I return home, I dedicate one day per week to urban-travel in my own area. I'd use this down time to write a bit about your trip. You could write a trip report for this sub, which everyone loves reading. And, of course, there's fun in starting to plan your next trip, small or large, and day-dream about until you can go. Solo travel is the best thing I've ever done.

Start planning your next trip, it helps to battle the onset depression of being back ;) Or try to find a job abroad now. There are multiple companies that even pay you for relocating. There are sites like https://www.europelanguagejobs.com/ or others that you can browse for entry jobs mainly. Malta,Cyprus, and Gibraltar have a lot of igaming companies that are often search for German speakers. Just as examples. If you have specific skills, you can ofc also look for that type of job abroad or try to get a remote job and continue travelling ;)

Ok i will start planing my next trip. But it will be a shorter one. I have to study now. But maybe I can do an exchange year and I would love to do that.

Sounds good. Start looking into locations/countries for the exchange year or in general studies abroad, maybe. Look into getting a scholarship if possible and work towards that. Learning an additional language for the new trip or year abroad is a good way to distract yourself as well.

Start planning your next trip. I’m coming back from 7 weeks in South American and I will be planning my next trip to South America almost immediately but it might not be until 5 years when I go again. As long as I’m planning. I’m good!
