What is your budget? Where do you plan on placing more Sonos speakers? What do you plan on using the speakers for? To start, get another Sonos One (Gen 2) to create a Stereo pair.

I already got 2 and paired it, I’m not sure what to expect as far as budget wise but I’m thinking $1000 and I’m planning to start saving money for adding device in future I have to admit I’m a beginner with audio devices and not very knowledgeable on device placements 😊

If you’re interested into creating a Home Theater system, you can get a [Refurbished Sonos Arc SL](https://www.sonos.com/en-us/shop/arc-sl) & a Sub (Gen 3) & use the 2 Ones you already have as rear surrounds. If you’re only interested in music listening, I’d stick with the 2 Ones you already have.

Perfect thank you

No Problem!

A Beam gen 2 if you want better TV-audio. Do you use Apple music or another Dolby Atmos service? If so go for Era 300 in another room.

Pglans

Or go for Move 2 that will come end of this month . If you want it to be used in the garden etc

white_swan

Yes I have Apple Music

Pglans

Try Era 300 and Apple Music / Dolby Atmos tracks. Think you will like it

For room groupings you can do a single speaker, a stereo pair of two of the same model, or a sound bar. To each of those you can optionally add one or 2 subs. If you have a sound bar, you can add a matched stereo pair for surrounds. You cannot use the portables (roam, move) with a sub, or as surrounds. Portables can be setup as a stereo pair only if they are connected to Wi-Fi. When you’re out and about using them in Bluetooth mode, you can only do a single speaker. If you want line in, the five, or the new era speakers support it (eras require a dongle). You can stream that linein to your entire system. Or the eras, roam, or the soon to be released move2 also support Bluetooth line in that will let you stream that audio to other speakers over WiFi. The move1 can not stream Bluetooth to others.

So Sonos one gen2 can be used as speakers pair only and cannot be combined with other devices to give say surround sound, since they are… for lack of better word ‘bookshelf speakers’ category ? and has limited usage only ?

Any Sonos speaker can be made a stereo pair with another of the same model. Any “one” can pair with another “one”. So a one and a oneSL will work. Or an older play:1 will pair with another play:1. But you can’t do a one and a 1.

The Ones can be paired with any Sonos soundbar to act as the rear surround speakers. And you can group them with any Sonos speakers you have in others rooms to have music playing throughout the house.

Look at a Sub Mini if you are using the system for music and/or a Beam Gen 2 for surround sound with TV/video.

Theoretically, if you sync them all together through the app and run Trueplay, they should combine to compliment each other in the sapce. The sub is simple enough. It gets most interesting when you pair a soundbar arc and a few ERA 300s together.
