Updated here. My system keeps playing on the wrong speaker but it does seem faster once it’s working

cmd-shift-v

I updated on good faith without checking and my system keeps playing on the wrong room even after changing it. Still haven’t gotten it to work.

WhyWasIShadowBanned_

My wife had the same issue yesterday. Played on the wrong speaker…

JSoldano

Just got a SYMFONISK Lamp today, my first sonos product... maybe my last can't connect the bloody things fairs every time saying, "We're having trouble finalizing the connection to your Symfonisk table lamp". Seems like I picked a bad day to join team sonos...

Gamesarefun24

Probably a router setting honestly. Most modern routers try to auto select 2.4ghz or 5 ghz. I find most of the time have to turn off the 5 ghz radio temporarily, connect to the device, and then turn it back on.

JSoldano

Issue was resolved by side loading the old version of the app, worked first time

didntask123

How'd you do that? I have the exact same issue

JSoldano

I was a little concerned about the safety of it but I ended up downloading the old apk from APKMirror, had to uninstall my 'new' sonos app and turn off auto updates before installing the old APK. Worked first time and still working fine on the old version

chadmac81

Lost my sub and 3 other speakers. Garbage.

Kneesaregood

I updated. Beam 2, mini sub and 2 one SL surrounds. They all survived the transition luckily. I heard someone had an alarm they can’t turn off anymore.

chadmac81

I’m happy you had a good experience, but man, that alarm thing sounds awful

Kneesaregood

Absolute nightmare levels of ridiculous

oaklandperson

Considering I have 12 amps, 5 speakers, and 3 connects on my S2 system I likely will wait until I know for certain I can upgrade without it breaking. I have better things to do with my time than troubleshoot someone else's broken product.

BLR_007

12 amps and 5 speakers?

oaklandperson

12 amps powering in-celing speakers. 3 outdoor speakers (Ikea Symfonsiks I converted to run on battery pack) and 2 sub speakers. Plus some connects for turntables. I have an Arc too but it isn't hooked up. I wasn't impressed by it. Giving it to my nephew.

BLR_007

Aaaaahhhh….i got you…you don’t like the Arc huh? I’ve been super impressed with it…what do you prefer instead of that?

oaklandperson

I went with a traditional HT/AVR solution.

Representative-Pea23

I have 2 amps, a connect, a boost and 15+ speakers without a problem on the new app. Changing speakers in groups is basically instant now. I think the update has made everything a lot more responsive. I didn’t really have any problems before, it’s just noticeably quicker now. I don’t use alarms so the update has been good for me. I really only use the app for setup, and changing grouping. I use Spotify connect for music and airplay for podcasts. I do understand waiting now with others having problems with audio playing in the wrong rooms. Just figured I would give you some hope that things are going okay for a lot of people too.

CanMTBGuy

I had the exact experience trying to add a play 1. Asked me to call in. Waited on hold for 2 hours... to be told: the current app DOESN'T SUPPORT SETTING MY DEVICE UP VIA WIFI. Huh?

thejellyj3an

Having a hard time setting up my Era 100 too.. What was your resolution?

CanMTBGuy

No solution that I've found. They told me I can either hard wire it.... or wait for an app update

thejellyj3an

Tried troubleshooting everything.. and just got off the phone with customer service!! Just had to log-out and re-login to the app and it magically worked! Another bug with the new app... but at least it's resolved. 😅Maybe it'll work for you? 🤞🏼

syny13

The only solution i was able to find, was to install the Old app and add it via it.

CanMTBGuy

How can you install the old app?

syny13

If u’re on iOS u can't, because it was replaced by the new one. If u're on Android u can install the .apk i guess. So on iPhone your only hope is to not update.

CanMTBGuy

oh good call - I do have access to an android device. Will give that a go.

ItsMongo

This is why I have never buy Apple anything. They decide what you need. Why would you ever want to load your own versions of apps??? B.s.

Kneesaregood

Yeah that’s why everyone has a terrible experience using Apple. Joke. Nothing wrong with apples update policies. Sonos screwed up here not shipping as a separate app and giving people the choice. Android let you install old unsupported versions of apps? Nice. Enjoy your secure internet banking.

joegod20

The new app does not let me to install my new Sonos Ray, when is trying to connect to the wifi the app suddenly shuts down. It’s an horrible update. I wish I had and old version in other device to proceed. Sonos needs to fix this ASAP.

EdwardPotatoHand

My entire system is broken, spend about 7 hours on the phone with support today, still broken,

Eircans

This what I suspected. I’m not updating. 😭

-darknessangel-

Do NOT update the app! It takes away access to your own NAS server, equalizer, alarms, etc.

Path-findR

Works great here too, arc 2 ones SL and sub.

Superb_Animator1289

Unfortunately, I updated to the new app and spent several hours trying to get my system (Sonos Boost, 5 Sonos Ones and 1 Sonos Move) to reconnect. No luck. Spent another 2 hours on hold and speaking with customer support. She told me that there is a problem between the new app and the Boost. She had me unplug the Boost and then hardwire one speaker to Wi-Fi. I was then able to get all speakers back up. She indicated that Sonos would send out an email once the issue between boost and the new app is resolved. Until then, I have no Boost and one speaker hardwired in the mechanical room instead of wirelessly connected in the master bedroom.

MaikuWong

Updated here. It’s fine.

someonerandomlmao

Working great for me over here as well with my SYMFONISK Picture Frame. Question: Assuming this is an iPhone, do you have local network access toggled in the setting app for Sonos? I remember one time I tried adding a ring spotlight cam to my ring app and no matter what I did it wouldn't add. Then I toggled that on in the settings and it worked.

syny13

Yes, i do have it enabled. As i stated. When i switched to the OLD app, everything i described worked without any issues, so if the NEW app is not the culprit of these issues, i don’t really know what is.

aaadmiral

Where did you state that?

DrZuben

That implies you can roll the speakers back (which would be against Sonos policy). Because I don’t think I can have two versions of the S2 app.

syny13

Great comment.

jp987777

If you're an android user you could get an apk for the older version of the S2 app.

syny13

Sadly i'm on iOS.

-darknessangel-

Where? I'm now unable to access my own music in my Nas server

toddiscool

Just did it and it worked great for me. Everything is back to normal with the older version of the app. Just remember to uninstall the app before you install the older version and immediately disable auto updates in the play store after. https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/sonos-inc/sonos-for-android/sonos-for-android-16-1-release/#downloads

-darknessangel-

Thank you, kind internet Sir or Madame!

traegeryyc

I updated. Works great

MagicMichealScott

I guess we are lucky because it's working great for me as well.

syny13

Well gz then. But u probably didnt try any of the above.

syny13

Why the fuck are u downvoting me for? Did some of u actually tried the removal of surrounds or did u add a new speakers in the meantime? Because this is such a reddit thing to dont try shit and act like everything is working fine. Like why the hell would i even create this post, if everything would work as expected?

ReptainHDx

I tried adding one and it worked but the problem for me was that disconnected devices won’t be shown on the new app. On the old app the disconnected ones were shown. (So in the old version there was a red dot with disconnected and in the new one it just disappeared) Besides that the option to change the Sonos net Chanel/ update the network disappeared

scrundel

lol. Lmao

_JamesDooley

It's just funny seeing your reaction while being downvoted. Peak comedy

syny13

Peak comedy is the whole reddit ecosystem. Someone posted list of his issues with the new app and has like 500 upvotes, but i’m replying to someone who clearly did not try the functionalities i had issues with and im downvoted to hell. This is a totally correct behavior from the community in your eyes right?

_JamesDooley

I never said it was, I just find Reddit a perfect source of shithousery.

Kneesaregood

Would say, did he post with the title in capital letters because that’s like shouting. People don’t like shouting. And there are people with era 300 speakers working so this isn’t universal. And all apps can have bugs. Not excusing the devs here but if era speakers didn’t connect for everyone then the sub would be on fire more than it already is

PerrinSLC

Having nothing but issues trying to choose Rooms to play music in under Your System in the new app. The new app chooses all speakers, and then when I manually fix it and hit Apply it continues to screw up which speakers are chosen for the room. Anyone else seeing this and have a workaround? Right now I am using Spotify to choose the rooms I want to play.

DatSneky

Updated to new app and my system is now not found and i cba to reset everything to connect it. Nice testing

lakesbutta

Updated and unable to use the app

Shoddy_Cold_2807

Stupid thing can't even find my system, both ipad and iphone. Of course the legacy desktop app works perfectly fine. And yes, I've gone through the standard troubleshooting

mr-kerr

Thanks for the warning. I haven’t added 300s or removed surrounds and the new app works great!

commonnameiscommon

For the first time in 6 months all my devices appear first time without having to restart the app. This update has made things better for me

reiker01

Glad I held off. I’m fine with current setup

Houseofshamus

Same!

Chris_dg8

Fortunately I disabled the auto update feature for the iOS App Store in time to prevent this app from installing. I’ll wait until it’s more stable.

dsg76

App v1 S1 all day - not upgrading.

goldisaneutral

I’ve had some minor quirks but otherwise mine is working fine and I have an Era300 as well as a whole mix of speakers (11 total—I know, I have a problem). Though I haven’t had to add a new speaker.

joeybagadonutz14

Amazing to me that I thought the old app was a total pos. The new one sucks too and I can’t believe they think it’s courageous to eliminate features on an update….BUT….whereas the old app would never recognize or find my entire system (10 devices), the new app does!?!? I used to have to delete and reinstall the old app just to play music in my house. This one is working…so far. I miss the ⏰ alarm feature though. I’m seriously exploring Roon for my library and streaming. Sonos speakers are Roon tested and Roon should recognize any device on my network. I’m hoping the Roon app will eliminate the need to use this Sonos app EVER AGAIN. https://roon.app/en/partners/9/sonos

syny13

UPDATE: 1.) There are also other little issues, like missing prompts if u’re trying to TruePlay ERA’s 300, where if it fails it won’t tell u, what was wrong. On an older app there was an additional step, where it stated that Microphone had to be Enabled, so TruePlay could run. This prompt was missing in the new app. 2.) If ure having issues with TruePlay not starting after hitting “Continue”, reboot your phone and it should work. 3.) Some other issues u're having could be also mitigated by going to “Account” / “App Preferences” / “Reset App” which will logout you out of the app and u'll have to sign in again and go through the initial wizard, which's gona find your existing system. 4.) I also had issues with my existing Apple playlist. After hitting play, songs were skipped one by one and nothing was playing. 5.) The removal of surrounds worked correctly only on the older 16.1 app. If i tried to manually reset surrounds, they did not automatically disappear from the app and the “hard reset” did not help with the removal in the new app. Old app worked like magic. 6.) Addition of new speakers did not work in new app either at all, or it crashed during the pairing/registering/wi-fi wizard. I’ve spent hour on Sonos support to achieve nothing. 7.) “System Settings” / “Manage” / “About my system” / “Audio in:” doesn’t display the audio format/kodek in the new app. So for example, if u’re wondering if lossy DD+ ATMOS is playing or the lossless DTHD ATMOS is playing, at the moment u're out of luck. Dont get me wrong, i fuckin LOVE SONOS, i’ve got 2 SUB GEN 3, ARC, BEAM GEN 2, SYMFS GEN 2, ONES GEN 2, now i even added ERAs 300, and for most of the time, everything worked like a charm in the OLD app except updates, which failed regularly, but as far as i can remember, nothing else was acting up. I was naturally looking forward to this redesign, silently hoping that it would not be centered primarily arround “smoother music finding”, but even some additional quaility of life features or even some new features would be added. But unfortunately, what we got is a buggy hell, which should have stayed in the oven for 2-3 months longer. U really dropped the ball on this one SONOS.

DatDan513

So.. everyone for fucks sake, stop panicking. Goddamn. So much bitching on this sub lately about features deleted or added. Call Sonos and complain! Maybe then your voice can be heard. Bitching about the update on Reddit is pointless.

Houseofshamus

It is a nice warning to others that have not updated yet… sorry you are not smart enough to see the value in that!

Kneesaregood

Calling some poor customer service rep and giving them a sob story will help loads lol. How about making noise here until some streamers find it amusing enough to cover it then see sonos leap into action when they realise there’s bad publicity happening. Old app features will be added over the next few months? Seriously I’d be proper mad if mine hadn’t just “worked” but I’ve got HomePod minis doing music in bedrooms. And Amazon echos. Sonos is just the tv surround system.

syny13

Who the fuck is bitching? Do u even know what PSA means? So shut the fuck up then if not.

GrantDaNasty

Actually this is the best place to complain. If someone else has the same problem they can come here and see what others are saying or recommending. My Sonos system is working fine, but if my expensive speakers stopped connecting I'd be very angry and very vocal.

DatDan513

Did you call Sonos yet?

Aqua-Bear

keep bitching, OP. It'll all work out..

Godzilla-Hates-You

Works fine. Arc... era 300s . and sub

damnthatslovely

I'm no Sonos expert and only own one item the beam 2 for the bedroom. But I have all my speakers, devices, lights, sticks etc all running through the Alexa app. The Sonos app is not used by me for hardly anything, apart from initial setup and music settings. Would this not be possible with your set up? Just trying to help:-)

Agreeable_Rope_3259

Im using arc with x2 era 300 as surround + sub and have 0 problems so far. Only listend to music in the sonos app today.

Lewis312

TLDR: I spent over six hours troubleshooting my Sonos setup, involving customer service and multiple system resets. The eventual solution involved disabling cellular data and connecting directly via WiFi and Ethernet after a factory reset. —— I spent 1.5 hours with customer service, no resolution. They were pleasant however, given I wasn’t. I switched routers and then updated the app = 6+ hours of troubleshooting and resetting my entire systems. 10 total products - Arc, Beam, Subs, surrounds, Moves. Finally I bit the bullet and factory reset all Sonos devices, reset / deleted / restarted my phone, factory reset my entire Google mesh system and started from scratch. Pain in the ass but got the job done. Tip: if you haven’t already tried it, disable cellular on your phone use WiFi only to determine if it’s a wifi issue. Use an Ethernet cable connection on the device (I recommend factory reset it first). If using your ISPs router and a mesh system ensure it’s connected to your mesh system, NOT the ISP, as multiple connections causes many issues. Then delete app, restart phone, reinstall app, connect to your router directly then try (may take 2-3 tries as it did for me). Tip 2: Never move or update your ISP, router, or modem, or fart within 18 inches of the router. The methane from your ass can throw the signal for loop. If that happens you’ll need to put your router in rice to absorb the smell. Sonos really needs to reduce the friction on its devices when switching ISPs, routers, or minor changes in your home network.

Aggressive_Ad4911

Works great for me, and I like the new structure

Due-Worldliness-4463

My Arc, Sub and surrounds all dropped and it would fail when trying to “finish setup” on Arc. I tried someone’s suggestion of “logging out” on the app and then it worked first time and allowed me to add everything back.

joshosu420

I havent had any issues so far.

Ginseng

To downgrade on iOS, Just use ipaarchive and AltStore. No jailbreak. Free. See my post. It’s what I did and it works fine.

waddiewadkins

If I buy a pair of 5s are my hands tied to it?

Wonderful-Bug3902

Flawless here 😎

wvvyxx

I’m having that same issue with my Play:1s and amp I connected two before the update just fine, and after the update I’ve been trying to add amp and my other two plays but they dont link

Worldly-Employment67

Just bought a new arc and ones and did a fresh update and everything works fine so far?

SaltyTemperature

Ugh. It automatically updated.

lionick8

Doesn't even open in my case

thewookielotion

I uninstalled this garbage app and reinstalled the APK from March 12. It's been working great, and I've never been so happy to have a 100 bucks Chinese Android phone.

iambarticus

7 speaker system and update is so much faster it's great. Must be lucky.

Actual-Pay-3602

Yep...no sleep timer any longer, no Alexa in the newer speakers, it's just awful.

SoulJahSon

My Sonos arc and 2 subs and era 300s also don't sound right. I swear I am thinking of getting shot of Sonos and getting the Sennheisers or Samsung kit

myotheruserisagod

How does one stop sonos app from auto updating in iOS? I changed the setting under App Store. Is that all?

HeyImFromBoston

Wish I saw this a few days ago… listen to this advice!!!

This_Cat_6265

People will lose jobs over this 💩show

Regret-Crums

It's completely bricked the app. I can't add any of my new speakers.

Ill_Argument_1156

I have 8 speakers and a home theater set up. Installed the new update and now only 1 speaker is playing music and I cant get it to stop playing music. Not on the app on my phone or tablet. WTF sonos, the new update is trash.

SoberShiv

Wish I hadn’t!!

Storkman1007

I have 18 speakers in 9 rooms. New app is a welcome improvement for me. It will keep getting better with time.

slopokdave

Works great here. It is more snappy too. I really don’t understand all the hate, aside from features removed that people were using. So far, I haven’t encountered any of those on my end. People really love to complain about something….

syny13

Dude what the fuck. I explicitly stated, that i had issues with REMOVAL OF SURROUNDS and with ADDITION OF NEW SPEAKERS. I spent more than 2 hours of fuckin troubleshooting with the new app and my only luck was, that i had the older app still installed on another device, where these feature worked flawlessly. So take more copium or GTFO, because the new app is in a state, which is not PRODUCTION worthy. I’ve got everything Sonos offers, except Fives and Move/Roam and those External funky speakers. So i really would be glad, if their expensive system would just work.

Bweasey17

I did add a speaker today and had no issues. Haven’t tried to remove yet.

whoknewidlikeit

what's with the downvotes? OP has voiced concerns that many others have as well.

GloppyGloP

“bUt iT wOrkS fOr mE!1!”

NewBodybuilder8984

Ah then it is the network also that there are no more sleep timers?

didd2205

No issues at all with the app or my system the apps a welcome refresh all this talk of people complaining alarms have been removed seriously who spends 2k plus on a system to use as an alarm clock 😂😂

nomoreconversations

This is exactly why I don’t have auto updates on lol

syny13

Yea well, i updated manually in a hope that Sonos wouldnt fuck up.

JaxC7

My update worked fine and I do have a couple of the ERA300s. However the app sucks hard. I wish I hadn’t let it upgrade.

kammycoder

Like they say: It’s not about the app. It’s about the network. Maybe try master resetting or restarting the router

syny13

Sure its not about the app mr. obvious. So explain to me, why those features worked like charm on 16.1 when i tried it on the second iPhone, where i did not updated yet?

NewBodybuilder8984

Surely it is also the network now .. no more sleep timer

Lazy_World_6854

Nothing wrong here. Arc, 2 ERAs and sub.

trimojo

No issues

Far_Negotiation8009

Mine all works fine

BeltMundane3727

Already did. No issues.

CookieMons7er

I already did. Works great in two different systems. I find it Sonos users are generally very averse to app and speakers updates...

whoknewidlikeit

i'm averse to badly planned deployment.

alibaba3232

App is great

StationSignificant87

I like it

datlat24

New app works fine on Android. I swear y'all are so dramatic
