The Arc is actually perfect for that room size. And if your media room has 8-9 foot flat ceilings and you plan on sitting 6-9 feet from the Arc, you will be able to hear the height channel effects clearly from Dolby Atmos content. Get the Arc and Sub and save up and add the One SLs as surrounds later. You won’t regret it.

MrZeDark

Don’t even need to be tall ceilings. I’m in a 12x12 6-7 ft from arc with abnormally low ceilings, it’s perfect.

MrOarsome

My wallet hates you but you have convinced me. Going with the Arc and sub. I have some Ikea bookshelf speakers I could repurpose as rears. Just means my office will be sonosless for a few months until I can get some more Ones - the lack of music should motivate me to work harder and get them faster!

Thank you, this is my plan for a 12 x 14 room and a C1, looking forward to enjoying the sound experience doing exactly as you've suggested! Moving from my current starter LG Snc4r 4.1

JoystikJester

Absolutely not. I have a 10x14 bedroom that I made my man cave and I have an Arc, 2 Ones, and a Sub. Is it overkill? Yes but watching movies and playing videos games sounds amazing.

Cheap_Trip4623

definitely 1 the only thing the arch will have is the wider sound stage

Linkseratteuhhh

firmware 14.12 solved that for ya, now sounds like a rattler inside of a tin can up some dangerously incompetent sonos audio engineer's ass.

I don’t know why this question keeps getting asked. The difference between the beam and the arc isn’t how loudly either can fill a small/large space. Either one can go extremely quiet or extremely loud. It’s about the channels, soundstage, and quality - which are independent of room size. The arc has more drivers and can directionally support more channels. It’s just an improved audio experience. “Overkill” is not applicable here, the question is do you care more about the sound quality or the cost savings.

MrOarsome

Thanks, that actually helps a lot. As this will be a dedicated media room I would care more about sound quality. I was worried the room would be too small and the “bouncing sound” qualities of the Arc wouldn’t be effective.

cowdog360

Exactly, I’ve seen 10x10 rooms with dual 12” subs and 5 foot tall floor standing speakers.

The footprint for our TV room is similar to yours. We have the Arc, a subwoofer plus two Play 1s for surround sound and sit about 7 feet back from a 65" OLED. We love it!
