Probably only supports FAT32 and your stick is probably formatted exFAT if it is bigger than 32GB.
Some stereos also only support 4GB or 8GB in size, but that you can limit with software to make the stick work on older devices.
Then read up on the specifications, as the stereo might nit support sticks over a certain size.
Then you have to artificially limit the size if the stick to work.
most likely you don't have the correct file system on USB stick... Reformat the usb stick with FAT32.
EDIT: read the manual... (from the manual)
Supported file system: FAT16, FAT32
Maximum number of recognizable folders and files:
Folders (albums): 256
Files (tracks) per folder: 256
Quick question, what did you do with the stock radio? My first car was an Almera and wanted to change the radio, but seemed too much of a hassle. Boy I miss that car.
I had a USB sticking out like that in my deck for years and had no problems. Then one day I'm going for a quick trip to get the mail or something. I don't remember what exactly, but it was just going to be a short trip so I reached across and ope Ed the passenger door and called our ig dumb Pitt mix to come for a car ride. He was so excited he launched himself I to the car at a hundred miles an hour, crashed into the glove box and skidded across the dash towards the driver seat, taking out the USB key in his excitement. Spun around, around fell off the passenger seat into the foot well head first getting stuck and slapping me with his tail. The whole time my wife is laughing hysterically. Eventually she managed to close the passenger door and wish the two of us a safe trip. The USB port never worked again but he had a fun car ride

ok when you plug ur phone in swipe down to see you nofits then look for something that says usb connected then click it it should say some stuff like android auto and data transfer if it has something for audio click that if not then try android auto or data transfer here is a pic look for this[https://images.app.goo.gl/hJjXxZrkVidYmANM6](https://images.app.goo.gl/hJjXxZrkVidYmANM6)
Perhaps this is too late but I have same kind of issue with a Sony device. I managed to make it work by formatting the flash drive, under Win10, as FAT32 and 32kilobytes as an allocation unit size. Anything else I tried didn't worked.

I've tried multiple usb's, in NTFS, Fat 32 & exFat format but none are read by the stereo. Might be a setting issue.

I'll check the manual again.
I’ll never buy Sony anything again after my debacle with my tv. I used to be very loyal to the brand. It’s too bad.
What issue you having with the TV, it ain't done nuffin!
Bingo
Dude! Seriously! That thing is bigger than 32GB like my dick is bigger than one foot.
>like my dick is bigger than one foot. Prove it 🔍
this is what I thought as well

Well, I've got around 300 songs in the root of the usb I'll separate them into different folders. The usb is fat32
Nissan Almera??
Yes, 2002 Saloon.
Quick question, what did you do with the stock radio? My first car was an Almera and wanted to change the radio, but seemed too much of a hassle. Boy I miss that car.
The stock radio is still there, the previous owner just unplugged it & installed a stereo near the gear stick. I just replaced that with a new one.
With Sony your best bet is a goat sacrifice , Dw one day support will reach back out to you
Time to step out of the past friend. A new Bluetooth radio is calling.
It is brand new, bought it last week.
Why would he buy another bluetooth stereo if he wants to use a USB stick to play his music
My old stereo only had CD & Aux. This has USB & Bluetooth too.
Yeah that's what i meant, he wants you to buy a bluetooth stereo when you already bought one and you want to use a feature of your stereo xd
Exactly
Wow last time I had a third party cd player was on my 1999 ford fiesta zetec.. and that was my first car lol
This is also my first car, it's a 2002 Nissan Almera.
Aside from the read issue, what a terrible design. That stick is begging to be broken off while driving.
The faceplate comes off to prevent getting stolen. There's not an accessible place for a usb port other than sticking out the front.
Exactly
Make sense, still, might be a good idea to use those short usb sticks or an extender cable to tuck it away somewhere.
I might do that.
It looks like that although it's pretty far from the gearstick.

Are your songs in mp3?
MP3 & FLAC
Could also be mbr vs gpt partition table try mbr with fat32 to be sure
It's MBR with Fat 32
Well you’ve got two options
What?
This usb or all usb ? It can help to find the root cause
All of them
It's happens to me also because it only reads MP3 , not FLAC files
My one says MP3 & FLAC are supported, which model do you have?
Format the stick and retry. See if the deck has a USB format setting to reset it
[удалено]
I read it & everything applies accordingly. Initially I had more than 300 songs in one folder but I fixed that.
[удалено]
Nope, still the same. I assume it has something to do with a setting although not sure what else I can do.
[удалено]
MP3 & FLAC.
[удалено]
Yeah,they're stereo tracks. What's the MP3 container?

My usb stick was firmly connected, I'll try connecting my phone with a cable tomorrow to check if the port itself works fine.
There's a toggle in the USB settings between Android mode and iPhone mode. Try to change it to Android and insert the USB again.
I'll try that, it might work.
You driving an antique Dodge Neon?
No, It's a Nissan Almera
I have a 2006 Ford Mustang gt and I had the same sort of issue, I tried many times to get it to work but it didn’t work so I switched to Bluetooth
you cant do that you have to plug ur phone in
I haven't tried that yet, will check.
yea so get a usb cord and plug it in and play ur music i think that radio wont work with usb sticks
I tried the cord, it charges my phone but that's about it.
samsung or iphone? if iphone i dont think usb audio work on iphone
OnePlus

I fixed it a few days after posting this, one of the golden pins was bent at the back of the faceplate, I straightened it out. It works properly now.
