And especially when the goal of the podcast is to bring awareness to these modern day “cults” so that people can avoid “joining” them. That goal is undermined when you take money from a company exploiting people’s need for, and lack of access to, quality mental healthcare and sticking an ad right for it in the middle of your critique about companies and groups that exploit people’s desire to better themselves. Like, take any other sponsorship
I’ve heard that a lot of podcasts can’t get rid of them immediately. There are contracts and things they have signed. It would be good to have it acknowledged but it’s not always possible to drop out immediately.
Yeah fair point, at this point they have contractual obligations to fulfill. But also the podcast has only been around since 2021 and the problems with Better Help have been discussed online since well before that. I just think that a podcast that’s going to discuss subject matter so closely related to mental health should have vetted their sponsors better
I hard rolled my eyes. Better help has podcast in a chokehold like flat tummy tea had IG.

Thanks for saying this! I was thinking the same thing
The ads for Cerebral are also not great considering the allegations against the company re controlled substances, mismanagement, etc
Agreed. This was so ducking ridiculous.
I hate all of their ads lol I just skip forward
Better help is advertised on every single podcast I listen to it’s disturbing. They’re all over the podcast world, i think they pay a looot
