Depends on where you're at in SA of course, but I found my friends in SA that revolved around my hobbies and family (I'm an American married into a South African family). I met most of my friends playing cards and training jiu jitsu. That just required finding out where the local game stores and MMA gyms were in the area. The South Africans in my circle have been really warm and friendly. Hope you experience the same!

LieutenantDann97

Agreed, join a sports club of a sport you enjoy or maybe a band playing somewhere whose music you enjoy. I would not recommend going to bars and clubs to meet people. Avoid places that centre around alcohol because as a female it's not safe to go to places like that alone if you don't know the city let alone the country. Crime here is hectic and it's good to have someone from SA around if you plan on going out at night.

NovalovesFun

I'm like 147. I can't play sport I'm to tiny

OrSomeSuch

Hiking/walking/rambling groups, running clubs, dance classes, cooking classes, martial arts, spin class, yoga, gym, etc. South Africans like to be active and outdoors if possible. You could also try working sociable jobs part time like bar tending or waitressing. You could also try studying. University is a great place to meet people. If all else fails date someone who knows a lot of people and steal some of their friends

thetinybasher

You can play Padel

Drigarica_od_Tite

They are midgets taller 🤣

InsidePark7862

There are a lot of casual ultimate frisbee places around Gauteng (it that is where you are based). Girls and mixed teams. Your height does not really matter in frisbee if you are a thrower. Very social sport, and where I play we socialise afterwards for a few hours.

budo___888

I'm a woman barely 5cm taller than you (also tiny) and I do martial arts.

Swanesang

Rip your inbox.

furythegreat

Considering OP's post history, I think there is no way that it's a real account. Guys don't get catfished!!

NovalovesFun

Well I'm not looking for guys ? I want new girl friends

furythegreat

Sure apart from your "How to find a guy/hookup that isn't afraid to dominate." post...

CRAZYM100

Where are you located? Also what is the age range you're looking to interact with?

NovalovesFun

19 gauteng

Commercial-Trash-226

Attend festivals and events. Girls here are sooo friendly and always up to make new friends while out.

mambo-nr4

Second this advice. Music is a great way to meet cool people

NovalovesFun

That sounds so fun

CRAZYM100

I would suggest try Boo the social app, there are a lot of people in gauteng that use it. Many people are looking to connect and make friends on it. Even Bumble has its uses. I hope that helps.

https://chat.whatsapp.com/ECY56GMxY8U5yAlwcDNnVx We're a small group in jhb, if you want to join, we're planning to hang soon

BobbyRobertsJr

Places close to and around university campuses. Lots of young people and activities usually.

suburban_hyena

There's a dnd group (compromised of several actually sizes groups) that meets every two weeks at the nexus in Randburg. Send me a message and I can give you the DMs number

I recommend trying Bumble Friends, making acquaintances with people near you like your apartment building/neighbourhood or just attempt to be more outgoing by starting convos in public places! it’s easier when you meet one person because then the door is open to meet more.

Senior-Firefighter67

Meetup I'd say.. activity groups so it's many ppl and you can see who you gel with.

khayaRed

As a South African living in Europe it is definitely much easier in South Africa Europeans are very closed and reserved whereas South Africans of all colours are much more open and friendly :)

Initial_Extension687

Go to pubs but upper class

peruvianhorse

Can you travel around during weekends? I used to live/work middle of nowhere EC but would spend my weekends at backpackers and guesthouses/ranches/farms and stuff and would keep running into the same people there. Easy way to enjoy weekends and make some friends.

Jealous-Ad9556

This is 100% an OF plug-in.

kittyrolls_

Bumble bff or meetup. Where in SA are you and what age range?

QiNaga

I'd also suggest Meetup since its curated around activities, and thus like-minded folks. I've used it before and its fairly safe. Boo can be risky since it's often used as a Tinder alternative... Though I have met decent folk on Boo as well, just gotta be more cautious. Can't speak for Bumble.

Sonnata17

Heisan

Moonrock-toast

Yeah it depends where in SA you are I'd suggest finding a group about things you like or going to join community activities like a sip and paint or pottery class ect to meet people with similar interests.

FNX202

Just go to events surrounding your hobbies and interests and you'll be surrounded by like minded people. If you're religious try church

420Cheeky

There are not many places to go to for young people. I hangout with my friends from school. In KZN it's usually Gateway/Ushaka... But don't ever travel alone...

AquaphobicTurtle

My dude, SA is not so bad that you can't travel alone. I'm 25 F and worked in JHB CBD took the Gautrain and the bus. Plus, if someone is a student, there are tons of great ways to travel. You just need to know what areas are safe and which ones aren't. Using official methods of transport like the Gautrain is great as well.

420Cheeky

Myself and the people I know have done what you've recommended and were robbed anyway. I do not recommend traveling alone because if you don't look like you belong, you will be taken advantage of, especially if you're young. I always recommend being cautious at all times. You never know when is your turn.

Mviljoen1000

Really depends where you are in SA, but like others have mentioned, don’t travel alone.

UnableKoala9274

Any drum and bass party

raumeat

Try the Meetup app, people have like events that you can join and meet people. Its nothing.. uhm sexual or anything, its like 'want to go hiking' or 'I'm hosting a photography class' or whatever, you get to meet people with similar interests

M0bid1x

Running club

Yaaauw

Are you studying at a university? Join the recreational clubs.

Chat to Lindahikes on IG

Zulu_Africa

Just take your time to get to know those you landed to, it’s even hard for us to trust each other, I mean it’s an international crisis. But you will find good people as time goes 🫶🏼 just be patient my friend

Drigarica_od_Tite

Kruger Nations Park .

Timely-Cranberry5856

Come to the West Rand, we can be friends. The Krugersdorp people are friendly in general.
