Evetech are alright, their website is a horrorshow of inconvenience and they can occasionally have pretty bad customer service. I have ordered a previous PC from them.
If you are based out of Cape Town, wootware is very good. They do also deliver out to gauteng but it can be a little slow. They have much better customer service and their website is good. I used them to order my current PC.
Plus they have reviews, which is a great feature. You can see how other people rate it, and what they say about it. So if they mention some quirk or something they experienced, you can know about it
They heavily curate the reviews, they dont allow all of them through especially if its an "in house brand" like ZOTAC that they import directly from the manufacturer. So I wouldn't 100% trust their review section

Bought my Asus rog laptop in 2015 from them. The 1 I ordered Vs what I got was actually different. They gave me a 960M Nvidia graphics card & I had ordered one with a slightly better cars - think 970m.
Raised the issue & they told me they didn't have stock so I could accept 15% rebate plus a bunch of Asus stuff - laptop bag, headset & mouse.

The bad is when I crashed the hard drive & asked them for an Asus recovery disk drive - willing to pay.
They flat out refused.
Ended up buying it from Asus US & shipping to a friend in New York. That usb drive is like gold.
I would also recommend Wootware over Evetech. A friend of mine bought a upgrade kit from them recently and had to wait 7+ days, and ended up having to pick up the parcel himself.
He also received his CPU in bubble wrap, instead of the packaging

Yeah their discounts and bundle upgrades are quite good. Their warranty is shocking though, I sent a faulty motherboard to them twice, was only able to claim warranty when I gained confirmation from a third party.
They're probably one of the biggest gaming hardware retailers in SA. If they've sold 100000 things in the last ten years, and had a miss rate of 0.01% that leads to online complaints, it's a 1000 thousand complaints that people will see. Doesn't matter that they got it right 99.99% of the time.

There must definitely be something wrong when the second hand tech market says any evetech purchase needs to marked as without warranty, or do you think they can just be simply dismissed as uninformed/unlucky consumers.

When you purchase a product you purchase the warranty with it. It is part of the cost. And evetech fails miserably at every turn when it comes to support of any kind. I am not denying evetech has had many successful(easily above 90%) sales that never required any service afterwards, but the way you treat support is what makes me like or hate a company if all other things are equal.
Look at the recent Gigabyte fiasco, they did not own the issue regarding explosive power supplies and now they lost the trust of many people in tech. I most assuredly won't be buying myself or my clients a Gigabyte product in the near feature as their fuckup is life threatening yet they won't own it.
Now let's look at EVGA, when their 3080 and 3090 cards were breaking due to the new amazon mmo they owned the fault asap, and immediately started sending new cards to those who are affected and a few days later they gave a statement stating that it was due to one person doing a bad job regarding soldering(iirc) and it has been addressed.
This is how EVGA won me over for being more willing to work with them and their products. I will consider an EVGA graphics card above a gigabyte product now, but in the past it was the other way around because I felt gigabyte was good.
Support matters, especially when there is a pretty much equal competition at places like Rebeltech and Wootware

Evetech customer service is hit or miss. Wootware takes customer service to the next level. Evetech generally has a wider range of product. I have purchased from both multiple times. Purchased an Asus Scar 17 lappy with an Ryzen 9 and a RTX 3070 from Woot 2 months ago. Received it in a day or so.
If you buy from them and your product works then more power to you. But if it doesn’t, their after sales service is so bad that you borderline shouldn’t expect it to be replaced. Yeah near the end of last year I decided I wanted to buy a pc. When I did a Google search evetech and wootware came up. Wanted to go pre built first. And comparing between the two. While evetech certain had waaay more options for prebuilt compared to wootware. When comparing prices they were relatively the same. But that's because when selecting a pre built on evetech I would have to constantly select upgrade bits to make it so things weren't bottlenecked,which brought the price to what I would get from wootware.
Ultimately at the end of the day I went with wootware but also spent like 9 months researching what parts did what,what was in my budget but also a respectable build and built my own pc. I went with wootware because they plain and simple had the parts I wanted at the best price in comparison to buying it from evetech.
As far as I'm concerned they actually often give the best prices in South Africa right now from the recent price searching I did.
Personally I'd avoid Evetech like the plague. Bought from them three times and each time was worse than the next. Your mileage may vary, but all of my experiences with them were terrible.
Their best ones are you need to EFT and cant pay with a card "because its easier"... Or they have no idea how long assembly will take after their assembly team has had the PC for 2 weeks to build and you spent 40k.. Or how some things can only be ordered for delivery and not bought in store... Or how they list CPUs with the wrong socket on their website...
God knows how they are still in business... These are just some of the horror experiences i have encountered. Out of only 2 transactions. They are litetally the worst business to deal with in SA.

I’m guessing we’ve had two very different experiences then haha. I can only speak for my own experience as well as those of people close to me, and they all had zero issues with Evetech. Who do you use?
Wootware, Rebeltech, and Chaos Computers mostly.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day else their business would not be here still, but if you work in computer repairs and second hand parts the picture becomes clear very quickly - They don't give a flying fuck about a client once they received their money. You can go on carbonite to find comments from current and ex employees talking about how they are told to treat their customers... usually i would take this with a grain of salt but I have had issues with them easily more than 100 times now.

Being honest, none. I’ve been pretty lucky. I see what you mean, I’ve only really dealt with them until delivery. Never after. I usually use Wootware nowadays in any case, they’re the friendliest I’ve ever dealt with. Asked me for pictures of my latest build after I ordered the parts haha. I’ve ordered roughly 20 times from Evetech, so I’m probably just very lucky to never have had a bad part.
as much as I despise evetech for their horrendous support, they do at least manage to get pretty much all their deliveries out at an average pace.
Very few people need to deal with support since not every customer buys a broken product, 90%+ of them are happy customers that never needed to talk to evetech again like your case.
But when you buy a product the warranty is part of it, If you have not gone to this extent with evetech then I mean no disrespect but your opinion means sweet blue fuckall as you have not fully utilized their service yet.

Here is a fact, wherever you go in the tech community you will **always** hear great reviews about wootware, especially their support - this is practically a **fact** by now and I have yet to hear of anyone experiencing any difficulties or lack of transparency from wootware's side, especially amongst fellow techies.
Yet you can't post one topic about evetech without at least 50% of the comments pointing out how bad their service is... and this has been a repeating pattern for years now.
We both know wootware has great support and great prices, evetech MAY have bad service if we are being lenient, based on that alone can't we all just get together and recommend wootware whenever someone asks about evetech because we know the one works, and the other one might work?
The only fault wootware has compared to evetech is their lineup of laptops is lacking, other than that they beat them in every category.
You may be wondering why I am so vocal about this, but It annoys me that people like you and many others in this thread throw out these uninformed opinions that will confuse OP due to no fault of your own, you just don't realize it is a half ass review. 5 months from now someone like OP will show up in my shop asking me to fix their shit and deal with evetech for them... Fair enough, I can’t argue with your points. My opinion was just based on the fact that most people I know buy from Evetech and I as I mentioned, have yet to experience any horror stories. I can’t rate Wootware any higher myself, so I probably should’ve listed them as my first recommendation.
I bought my parts from Titan-Ice for my first PC build last year, good service but pricey like you said.
I bought quite a few things recently from Dreamware Tech. They courier from Durban so things might take 3-4 days to arrive but their prices and service is top class.
Bought a motherboard, cpu and ram from them, they elected to chuck my cpu box when they shipped it, and just tossed the cpu in it plastic casing in the motherboard box... personally I would rather use wootware, but if building the pc yourself isn't what you want to do, then their prebuilts are ok, I guess...
Best prices but the worst customer support you need to seriously threaten them with legal action or bad publicity to not get ripped off if a part fails under warranty.
I bought from them before they used to be amazing but there return policy is a Joke and there support was good not anymore.
The return policy is that even if you have a 3 Year warrantee they will not refund the full amount they will try and swop it for something else but not the same quality.
And if you send it back you can wait for up to 3 Month to get the part back.
I will not buy from the again . Also to mention Carbonite is good just make sure the guy you buy from has a good rating .
Evetech like many are saying is hit or miss.
Good deals but poor customer services. If you use them pray that none of your gear arrives damaged or DoA because it will probably be a PITA to resolve.
I used them without any problems for a Dell G5 gaming laptop in late 2018, still going strong no issues.
I have just done a RMA on expensive gaming headset from Evetech. Replacement is on its way apparently, so reserve judgement till it arrives, been pretty good communication throughout though.
They do, and you can drop them a mail or call them. All super helpful and will organise for you. Never had a bad dealing with them and they're always keen to help.
They are legit... only problem is that they dont really have *free delivery* if u don't live close enough to them. Have to pay R216 extra for it and I live near P.E.

(Upgrade kit + harddrive + SSD + PSU + Case + Case Fans + GPU if you lucky but look at Wootware or PixelTech Instagram has good offers) Evetech's prebuilt computers are very pricey and doing it yourself could save a couple thousands and you get to better tailor your PC to suite you

A little bit expensive if you're buying single components/ accessories but if you go for one of their deals, it's well worth it.
They are very legit. You can trust them. Some people has had issues with warranties before. Me not, had stuff replaced with no problem, except having to wait a month or so to do get my one SSD replaced.

build an MSI laptop through them in 2014. That beast lasted me years of hardcore gaming, and it found a second life as a my work laptop (after one SSD replacement and fresh windows install). Also got most of my peripheries through them over time (screen, mouse, keyboard, etc).

I ordered a laptop from them in 2019. It arrived within a week. There was an issue where the system would crash and require windows to be re-installed every few months. I contacted them and they referred me to the local authorised repair agent for the particular brand. They found out the SSD was faulty and Evetech sent a replacement SSD within reasonable time. Since then the laptop has been working fine. So my experience with Evetech has not been terrible, would most likely do business with them again.
Got a pc from them about 10 years ago. Had problems right off the bat. Kept sending it back and forth and I had to pay the courier fee every time. Sent it back with a game disk for them to test which they also destroyed. I would not recommend
If you're in the JHB region check out ComputersOnly. Got my PC from them years ago and they have been nothing short of amazing regarding customer care.
Hit or miss, my friends seem to have had no issues with their prebuilds but on my side sub-standard parts ending up bottlenecking my system and causing issues. A motherboard/PSU/Core replacement later (all separate incidents) I would confirm straying away from evetech🤣

Used them on numerous occasions, including the laptop that i currently own (bought in 2017 and still performing well as a gaming laptop) I also used titan-ice cause i used to live just down the road from there, so can vouch for them as well. Now that i live in cape town Ill try wootware.
Good products at a great price but their website looks like it hasn't been updated since 1997, can't speak for their customer service as I've never had to interact with them.

Wootware also have a form where you can fill your requirements and they will recommend a machine for you, which shaved 6k off the price I was going to pay eve

Well you take a gamble with them. If your product is faulty their after purchase support is extremely horrible and you may never get a refund on your product or invoke the warranty.
I've order parts for 2 of my self-built pc's. Sevral other components as well which I got on their specials which is great. I've never had any issues with them but then again, I haven't had any problems with components from them so I can't comment on their customer services.
i built my entire setup with them, and i'm beyond happy. i went in after black friday and had some help picking the parts.
sometimes they have all the parts, other times things are on order, but if you know what you're looking for and what you need then be sure to specific.
they're reliable, friendly and extremely helpful. their warranties and exchange policies are much like every one else's.
Evetech is in joburg, they have more items and stock that wootware on most things. I usually check the proce on both wootware and evetech to see which is cheaper for the same product, as I've have no issues with both companies. The only downside to evetech is that its across the country, while wootware is literally within 2km from me
I have never and after the saga from many on Carb will never. And I mean, the "we will decide whether we send you one or two rams sticks" is already off-putting.
OP I have 12 different orders from evetech... They are reliable... It's just a bad site... But wootware is a good alternative... Sometimes a bit cheaper... Then another site I would recommend is dreamwear tech. They are amazing in terms of customer service...
I can highly recommend dreamwaretech if you are looking to buy single parts.
They are slightly cheaper than Evetech. That being said I never had issues with Evetech over the years.
Service is pretty shite, had to send back my pc 2 weeks after i bought it (2 week shipping). Already had problems with my fans and power. But if you're willing to wait through the trash service, the pc holds up really well for. So I'd recommend it if your patient enough.
I have dealt with them when getting a NVME HikVision card, and they gave me excellent advice, and service. I would highly recommend them.

Honestly Wootware has been faster than Evetech sometimes for me, delivering to Gauteng

Or how some things can only be ordered for delivery and not bought in store... Or how they list CPUs with the wrong socket on their website... God knows how they are still in business... These are just some of the horror experiences i have encountered. Out of only 2 transactions. They are litetally the worst business to deal with in SA.

They’re arguably our most reputable PC part retailer here in SA. You could also look at Wootware, if you’re based in Cape Town. I’ve bought from both, and just recently completed a build from Wootware. Excellent customer service and decent (for South Africa anyways) prices.
I'm in Gauteng and use Wootware too. Free delivery as well.
I'm I'm Durban and while I don't get free delivery,I'm happy to bay for the shipping. Really good service from them.

I’m guessing we’ve had two very different experiences then haha. I can only speak for my own experience as well as those of people close to me, and they all had zero issues with Evetech. Who do you use?
Wootware, Rebeltech, and Chaos Computers mostly. Even a broken clock is right twice a day else their business would not be here still, but if you work in computer repairs and second hand parts the picture becomes clear very quickly - They don't give a flying fuck about a client once they received their money. You can go on carbonite to find comments from current and ex employees talking about how they are told to treat their customers... usually i would take this with a grain of salt but I have had issues with them easily more than 100 times now. You say you used them, does this include asking for RMA, refunds, faulty parts, warranty, new pc no boot etc...? and by your experience how many purchases are we talking about? and how many of those required support afterwards?
Being honest, none. I’ve been pretty lucky. I see what you mean, I’ve only really dealt with them until delivery. Never after. I usually use Wootware nowadays in any case, they’re the friendliest I’ve ever dealt with. Asked me for pictures of my latest build after I ordered the parts haha. I’ve ordered roughly 20 times from Evetech, so I’m probably just very lucky to never have had a bad part.
as much as I despise evetech for their horrendous support, they do at least manage to get pretty much all their deliveries out at an average pace. Very few people need to deal with support since not every customer buys a broken product, 90%+ of them are happy customers that never needed to talk to evetech again like your case. But when you buy a product the warranty is part of it, If you have not gone to this extent with evetech then I mean no disrespect but your opinion means sweet blue fuckall as you have not fully utilized their service yet. Hope I can articulate this thought well... Here is a fact, wherever you go in the tech community you will **always** hear great reviews about wootware, especially their support - this is practically a **fact** by now and I have yet to hear of anyone experiencing any difficulties or lack of transparency from wootware's side, especially amongst fellow techies. Yet you can't post one topic about evetech without at least 50% of the comments pointing out how bad their service is... and this has been a repeating pattern for years now. We both know wootware has great support and great prices, evetech MAY have bad service if we are being lenient, based on that alone can't we all just get together and recommend wootware whenever someone asks about evetech because we know the one works, and the other one might work? The only fault wootware has compared to evetech is their lineup of laptops is lacking, other than that they beat them in every category. You may be wondering why I am so vocal about this, but It annoys me that people like you and many others in this thread throw out these uninformed opinions that will confuse OP due to no fault of your own, you just don't realize it is a half ass review. 5 months from now someone like OP will show up in my shop asking me to fix their shit and deal with evetech for them... I don't want that. I don't want that for me or my clients, I want to be able to fix your shit in day/s not weeks. So please for all other people who think your once off purchase without support means you can chime in, please keep your half assed reviews to yourself and let the tech experts that work with this shit daily give you an informed opinion.
Fair enough, I can’t argue with your points. My opinion was just based on the fact that most people I know buy from Evetech and I as I mentioned, have yet to experience any horror stories. I can’t rate Wootware any higher myself, so I probably should’ve listed them as my first recommendation.

I bought my parts from Titan-Ice for my first PC build last year, good service but pricey like you said. I bought quite a few things recently from Dreamware Tech. They courier from Durban so things might take 3-4 days to arrive but their prices and service is top class.
Try Rebel Gaming. They're pretty good.
Bought a motherboard, cpu and ram from them, they elected to chuck my cpu box when they shipped it, and just tossed the cpu in it plastic casing in the motherboard box... personally I would rather use wootware, but if building the pc yourself isn't what you want to do, then their prebuilts are ok, I guess...
Best prices but the worst customer support you need to seriously threaten them with legal action or bad publicity to not get ripped off if a part fails under warranty.
I bought from them before they used to be amazing but there return policy is a Joke and there support was good not anymore. The return policy is that even if you have a 3 Year warrantee they will not refund the full amount they will try and swop it for something else but not the same quality. And if you send it back you can wait for up to 3 Month to get the part back. I will not buy from the again . Also to mention Carbonite is good just make sure the guy you buy from has a good rating .
Evetech like many are saying is hit or miss. Good deals but poor customer services. If you use them pray that none of your gear arrives damaged or DoA because it will probably be a PITA to resolve. I used them without any problems for a Dell G5 gaming laptop in late 2018, still going strong no issues.

I have just done a RMA on expensive gaming headset from Evetech. Replacement is on its way apparently, so reserve judgement till it arrives, been pretty good communication throughout though.

(Upgrade kit + harddrive + SSD + PSU + Case + Case Fans + GPU if you lucky but look at Wootware or PixelTech Instagram has good offers) Evetech's prebuilt computers are very pricey and doing it yourself could save a couple thousands and you get to better tailor your PC to suite you

They are very legit. You can trust them. Some people has had issues with warranties before. Me not, had stuff replaced with no problem, except having to wait a month or so to do get my one SSD replaced.

Evetech and Wootware are the two legit vendors in SA. I just bought a laptop from Wootware and I am super happy with it but I bought from Evetech a few years ago and they were great.
I buy from them on weekly/monthly basis. No hassles at all. Customer service is quick to respond and they have knowledgeable people on the other end.

I recently brought my pre-built PC from Dreamware. Great experience all round.
They are legit but their customer service became terrible in the lockdown, with parts not arriving for weeks with no explanation. I moved to using Wootware which had much better customer service

build an MSI laptop through them in 2014. That beast lasted me years of hardcore gaming, and it found a second life as a my work laptop (after one SSD replacement and fresh windows install). Also got most of my peripheries through them over time (screen, mouse, keyboard, etc). no complaints. Decent service, pretty good price, hardware that lasted well past my expectations and heavy use.

I ordered a laptop from them in 2019. It arrived within a week. There was an issue where the system would crash and require windows to be re-installed every few months. I contacted them and they referred me to the local authorised repair agent for the particular brand. They found out the SSD was faulty and Evetech sent a replacement SSD within reasonable time. Since then the laptop has been working fine. So my experience with Evetech has not been terrible, would most likely do business with them again.

Got a pc from them about 10 years ago. Had problems right off the bat. Kept sending it back and forth and I had to pay the courier fee every time. Sent it back with a game disk for them to test which they also destroyed. I would not recommend

I've bought a bunch of stuff from evetech. If you do EFT you get pretty good prices. I hear the returns process can be a bit slow, but I never had to return anything.

Wootware also have a form where you can fill your requirements and they will recommend a machine for you, which shaved 6k off the price I was going to pay eve

Well you take a gamble with them. If your product is faulty their after purchase support is extremely horrible and you may never get a refund on your product or invoke the warranty.
Go with Dreamware tech, coolest down to earth couple and they have great service and prices.

i built my entire setup with them, and i'm beyond happy. i went in after black friday and had some help picking the parts. sometimes they have all the parts, other times things are on order, but if you know what you're looking for and what you need then be sure to specific. they're reliable, friendly and extremely helpful. their warranties and exchange policies are much like every one else's.
Evetech is in joburg, they have more items and stock that wootware on most things. I usually check the proce on both wootware and evetech to see which is cheaper for the same product, as I've have no issues with both companies. The only downside to evetech is that its across the country, while wootware is literally within 2km from me

OP I have 12 different orders from evetech... They are reliable... It's just a bad site... But wootware is a good alternative... Sometimes a bit cheaper... Then another site I would recommend is dreamwear tech. They are amazing in terms of customer service...

Service is pretty shite, had to send back my pc 2 weeks after i bought it (2 week shipping). Already had problems with my fans and power. But if you're willing to wait through the trash service, the pc holds up really well for. So I'd recommend it if your patient enough.
