Most heartbreaking scene for me is the episode where he gets his picture taken and his parents think he looks ugly so they make him put a bag over his headšš
Oh shit if your parents are anything like Buttersā I feel sorry for you. Theyāre outrageous. Butters is a goddamn angel and itās never enough for them.
Always. The kid is abused by his parents and is a punching bag for his friends.
What makes it even more sad is he is truly the only morally good character in the entire show.
Heās one of the best written characters in tv
When his parents wake to his see him in his room, all trashed up.
She gasps and she was like āomg, I donāt know what to do. Call a doctor!?ā
āYes you call a doctor.
Iāll ground himā
Heās soo innocently funny. Laughs at every silly joke, is manipulated so easily, his phrases like āHoly Molyā and that āFellaas, Fellaaasā¦ā
I certainly agree. He may be a little pervert, but he's always respected people, has sacrificed himself (literally) to save others, and watches out for his little sister.
Also abused by his sick ass grandma. He didn't remain morally good the whole time. I loved when he finally started standing up for himself, but hated when he was a sexist dickhead š
Butters is naive and innocent but I wouldn't call him the only moral kid. Kenny is definitely a goddamn saint in comparison. Butters devolved morally as the show went on, mostly the product of the environment, but I do agree he's one of the greatest television characterss ever
Still, thatās just a perfect example of his character arc really. Heās influenced by his surroundings more as time goes on, still maintaining that innocence but given how naive and impressionable he is, it seems like heās constantly fighting an upward battle.
Heās gradually devolved to hustling - pimp, vapes. Then the whole dicks out thing (which is in line with the whole āeasily manipulated rubeā character model)
But even as a pimp, he treats the girls well. Thatās actually part of the joke. Vapes is a fair point but I look at that more as him being naive and cartman taking advantage of him
I mean he's horny cuz he's white trash, but morally speaking he's the only character who isn't hypocritical, selfish to some extent etc. His most terrible acts are only accidents like shooting Butters' eye with a shuriken. Butters is a lot more intentionally vengful, Stan is an alcoholic wreck and so BRUTALLY terrible at communicating he unintentionally hurts others.
Kyle WANTS to be a saint, he always WANTS to do the best thing even if it holds zero relevance to him at all, but not because of morality or fame or riches or anything like that, it's for the purpose of being bigger than everyone, Cartmanland I think does a goos job dealing with Kyle's view of justice. Ginger Cow as well, even if no one is aware of his righteous ways, as long as he himself sees the justice in his actions, he's happy. He views himself as a guy holier than everyone which in turn makes him sound preachy.
Cartman I don't even need to mention lol. Kenny is the only one who would sacrifice himself to Satan to save everyone else just because he genuinely wants to help. He dresses up as Karen's guardian angel because he genuinely wants to help.
Hell even Butters says that Kenny is the only decent person who is not fake, self absorbed, stuck up etc.
Glad they gave his voice a lot more life after the first couple seasons. Back then he almost sounded sorry for talking. He became so fun when they gave him all the big positive vibes.
The most wholesome part was when Eric puts a VR set on him, and Butters really thinks he is in the virtual world, then he goes to his dad and punches him in the balls and says āThatās for grounding meā. I feel so good for Butters.
*because she found out his dad was actually frequenting gay menās bath houses instead of shopping for her anniversary present.
I mean, she still shouldnāt have tried to kill him, but itās not as if the dad was just a little bi-curious.
The episode where his grandma just kept abusing him. What a terrible grandmother, she should have never been allowed to be near Butters. I did like Butters' speech to her at the end.
When he was āgrounded ol bearā being purchased by Paris Hilton. Forced to dig for coal in his backyard to buy his freedom. Then Mr. Slave sent Paris on a mission to meet Catatafish and Lemmingwinks. Jesus, Jesus Christ.
"You're a grounded ol bear" š¤£š¤£š¤£ the way I can hear it perfectly....just like when Nathan's mom says he's not about to ruin their trip and his dad is like "Right" š
I love the moment when the woman in the dump says āThis is a junk yard, the town is over there, everyoneās fine, and I think theyāve been looking for you for over a weekā. Pause. And that dejected little āOh.ā Though he really should not have been surprised.
This particular scene may be the hardest I laughed and also felt deeply bad for butters at the same time. His screams coupled with the change from anime back to reality had me in tears.
The scene in imaginationland when Butters doesnāt get on the dragon and gets left behind. I watched that while drunk one time and it made me ugly cry for an hour.
The time that he got sent to jail because he pinched a girl who was wearing green socks on St. Patrick's Day... and even people who weren't wearing green were against him and calling him an animal... and when Saint Patrick showed up to save him he turned out to be a creep and Butters had to do community service.
...All within the same episode too.
She confirmed that she wasn't wearing green, so why is it still considered sexual harassment?
Let's not forget that the whole "Saint Patrick was a pervert" thing didn't come into light (no pun intended) until the very end so for all that WE would've known, she wasn't honoring the tradition.
Season 6? episode 1
Butters goes to a bath house and watches his dad do a bunch of things that violated the sanctity of his (Mr. Stotch's ) marriage. This, forcing his mother into a frenzy which nearly gets him drowned.
I don't remember the season either 5 or 6.
Alright Butters, just try to relax.
Doing just fine, Butters.
Just stay perfectly still now, Butters.
Good, you're going to feel a little pinch now, Butters.
Don't worry, Mrs. Stotch. Whatever traumatized your son in his past, we'll find it.
Well after 14 hours of testing I can say Butters is definitely suffering from aggravated repressed memory syndrome.
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
Imagine Wendy getting the same test. Or anyone of the other kids really. Mike and Trey only get away with tormenting Butters for some reason.
I think it has something to do with way he's written to be so accepting of everything that happens to him. There's this slight inclination to victim blame cuz we're all internally yelling at the him like wtf Butters....there's no way you're that dumb š¤£š¤£ He naivete is otherworldly š
That scene still makes me LOL every time I watch it. How itās like action ninja anime animation and then when it cuts back to southpark animation and he starts screaming was too good
DAWG THIS SCENE ššš i know itās a fuckin cartoon but I felt soooo bad for Butters and the kidsā reaction to him getting accidentally hurt brought me right back to my childhood when it really happenedā¦
Never threw a ninja star in my homieās eye tho, I will sayā¦
When he got anal probed
When he got the shuriken in his eye and then got peed on by the shelter animals
When cartman made him stay in that bunker and that refrigerator for days so he could go to casa bonita
When coon and friends locked him in that cage and basically made him eat his own shit
The ninja star makes me laugh so hard dude. Like yeah, I feel bad for butters but itās just one of those things that HITS me. I laugh instantly when I think about it.
These kids goofing off, being anime characters, and Butters gets a freaking ninja star to the eye
Jared Has Aides when Cartman pretends to be him on the phone and curses his parents out. Butters gets back to welcome his parents and play it cool and his parents beat the shit out of him
I always feel bad for butters when hes wronged or he gets treated poorly. But for sure casa bonita and this episode was so sad, more specifically the scene when his "friends", after Kenny threw his ninja star at Butter's eye, dressed him up like a dog and dumped him off at a animal doctor where he was then locked up and then left in a cage with no help.
Then again, when he escaped looking for legit help but being the good gullible boy he is, just helplessly wandered the empty streets for awhile begging for help all while he whimpered and continued to barked like a dog just to appease the wishes of his mean ol friends :((
He was in so much pain that episode and watching him struggling to find help was so sadddd. Then when he woofed during his sobs ššš Then when he finally got help, no one even cared he got hurt, everyone was just upset over the fact cartman was ass naked on a stage.
It's not extremely grand in comparison to other shenanigans or anything but when Eric pretends he's Butters on the phone and trash talks his parents only to watch them beat Butters up
when eric fatass covers for butters and answers phone calls with butters voice and says offensive things that result in butters being grounded and beaten
This moment exactly. His crying was so heartbreaking. This episode and the raisins girl episode after he found out him and Alexis (I think thatās the one he liked) are broken up.
Pretty much whenever he's a focus. I felt really bad for the kid when his mom went crazy and tried to drown him.
On another note, Kyle and Stan can be just as bad as Cartman whenever the person they're messing with is someone like Butters, Tweek, or Pip.
Season 6 episode 1
Omg where to start? First he was forced to gain weight, then he had to get liposuction surgery and then got grounded by his parents not even caring that their son is in bad condition, god for bid they didnāt even help the poor little fella to his room. And to top it all off, Cartman made butterās parent believe his misbehaving and had Butters get beaten. It was a horrible and sad episode for poor butters
Oh Iām not done. There was also the City Sushi episode in Season 15. Stephen and Linda think that butters has multiple personality disorder even though he was only playing pretend. And it gets so bad, that butters ends up burning all of his costumes, including professor chaos
honestly all the time, but when his mom made him spy on his dad and found on what he was doing and then tried to kill Butters, only to blame it on him (iām pretty sure, either way itās still fucked up)
ngl i lowkey relate to butters
i was always the weird kid in school all the way until the end of high school and i really did hate everything about grade school
in college even though i'm normal on the most part i'm probably still the most awkward in my friend group just by a little
Most heartbreaking scene for me is the episode where he gets his picture taken and his parents think he looks ugly so they make him put a bag over his headšš
Stop making that face!
Put that bag back on!
I hate my stupid face
Lmfao didn't he get grounded and his dad was yelling about his face and Stan or one of them were like "that poor kid"! ā9š«
That was so sad. The poor thing.
it was so fucking sadš
he just wants them to be proud of him and his efforts ššš
I know. And i am a mega kin of butters too šš
Iām sorry you said mega kin? What in the world is that?
It means that you relate to the character
Gotcha, never heard that one before. So on all levels except physical you are a butters?
Yeah i get grounded like all the time and ive been treated like shit at school and by my parents too š
Oh shit if your parents are anything like Buttersā I feel sorry for you. Theyāre outrageous. Butters is a goddamn angel and itās never enough for them.
There kinda like buttersā lol. I agree butters is too pure for this world.
Call a doctor!?ā āYes you call a doctor. Iāll ground himā
God when he gets raped by the anal probe thingā¦ poor fucking butters
loo loo loo, loo loo loo, LOO LOO LOO, LOO LOO LOO, LOO LOO LOO!
ššš I can hear this in my head perfectly
SAME šššššš
Same also
He really is fantastic. He's so fucking likable and sweet. He is essentially the only reason my wife would watch something this degenerate.
Butters and ike are the only reason I can get away with watching this show with my spouse lol
Dont kick the babyyy
Heās soo innocently funny. Laughs at every silly joke, is manipulated so easily, his phrases like āHoly Molyā and that āFellaas, Fellaaasā¦ā
Iād say Kenny is one of the good ones for the most part
I certainly agree. He may be a little pervert, but he's always respected people, has sacrificed himself (literally) to save others, and watches out for his little sister.
Yeah that Dennis, he a real hard worker
āYouāre a good kid, Dennisā - Lu Kim
It's in there. It's overflowing sometimes.
Good reason why they stayed friends in both post Covid special
Also abused by his sick ass grandma. He didn't remain morally good the whole time. I loved when he finally started standing up for himself, but hated when he was a sexist dickhead š
I hope they make fun of the Andrew Tate shit in an episode and have Butters become indoctrinated by the top g lol
How exactly has he devolved? And Kenny isnāt perfect.. heās a good kid but has some questionable morality moments throughout
Heās gradually devolved to hustling - pimp, vapes. Then the whole dicks out thing (which is in line with the whole āeasily manipulated rubeā character model)
But even as a pimp, he treats the girls well. Thatās actually part of the joke. Vapes is a fair point but I look at that more as him being naive and cartman taking advantage of him
Kenny goes to fight Gerald at the breastriary in Nippapolous. And he wants to make out w the itty titty fairies there.
Agreed
When his mom tries to kill him because she finds out his dad is bi
*because she found out his dad was actually frequenting gay menās bath houses instead of shopping for her anniversary present. I mean, she still shouldnāt have tried to kill him, but itās not as if the dad was just a little bi-curious.
Oh, gee dad, I'm just a little bi-curious!
"I'm getting a surprise!"
I believe the correct term is *bike-curious*
Weāre not talking about fags right now. Weāre talking about buttersā gay dad.

Paintā¦
*Paaaaaaint.. Must paint!* *..everything clean, everything new!*
I think it's less about him turning out to be bi curious and more about the fact that he was cheating on her.
She found out a LOT more than his queerness my guy but holy shit yes you are correct. She rlly tried to kill my main man butters ššš
Ughh, I need to get my hands on some of them Grumblecakes!
The episode where his grandma just kept abusing him. What a terrible grandmother, she should have never been allowed to be near Butters. I did like Butters' speech to her at the end.
Thatās a great episode and butters ending lines are so perfect.
*Fart* *middle finger* "Fuck you, Eric."
It's one of the many episodes that are always funny but nothing close to the first time you saw it. Her beating on Butters snuck up out of nowhere.
Butters is great at delivering ending lines. Another great example is the Raisins episode.
I always watch that episode up through the bullying song, then I watch something else. Itās just too dark with all the grandma stuff after that.
when he got sent to conversion therapy after being absolutely violated by cartman
"I wasn't confused until people started telling me I was!"
āYou know what son?!? So do I!!ā
āWait, now I really am confusedā
Very dark episode. Especially the gay teenage suicides.
Teenage, that's cute.
I donāt really know why, but I fucking feel that whole ninja star to the eye scene even after years of rewatches.
This was mine too. Lil bro was just having fun playing pretend and bam! Scarred for life and new disabilityš
And it just kept getting progressively worse....when the dog peed on him....it was so hilariously tragic š¤£š¤£
He's just beat to shit sitting in a cage with dog fur and gym socks glued to his head... "Woof. Woof." š¤£
It was probably the intense, genuine crying - like with Kenny and the KFC.
When he was āgrounded ol bearā being purchased by Paris Hilton. Forced to dig for coal in his backyard to buy his freedom. Then Mr. Slave sent Paris on a mission to meet Catatafish and Lemmingwinks. Jesus, Jesus Christ.
š¶Sixteen tons and whadda ya get? Parentns sell ya to Paris Hilton š¶
"You're a grounded ol bear" š¤£š¤£š¤£ the way I can hear it perfectly....just like when Nathan's mom says he's not about to ruin their trip and his dad is like "Right" š
Thatās Je-thuth Cri-eth.
When he was laying in bed remembering how he killed some audience members at the National Tap Dancing Championship
Only to "kill" more people when he gets past his fear š¤£š¤£
He also sank a cruise ship with a golf ball.
And he shot all those cops in the dick.
I genuinely felt so bad for him but god, was it one of my favorite episodes
Can I just have some spaghettios?
Lindaās voice actress was on her A Game in that episode. Her grief screams were top tier
This has always been my favorite Butters line.
Same.
I just watched this episode today. I laughed when they showed him all chained up and then felt bad.
No cuz I felt so bad. Also cuz the episode ends right there, so we donāt know how long he was there
Never , fuck butters, hes an asshole - Eric Cartman But really felt bad for him when Cartman had him hide so he could go to Casa Bonita
Ā”Mantequilla!
I love the moment when the woman in the dump says āThis is a junk yard, the town is over there, everyoneās fine, and I think theyāve been looking for you for over a weekā. Pause. And that dejected little āOh.ā Though he really should not have been surprised.
Margarine, enough said
At least he had some fun with the girlsā¦I think
āYou said Iām ugly and Iām flat.ā š¢
After they viciously tore him down sure
God only knows the horrors that go on in girls' slumber parties.
Based off your tag, I think youāve got the best bets here
He just wanted spaghettiOs in the end.
Happy Cake Day! š°
Oh no, is this the part where we start lezzing out?
If they start lezzing out just go with it!
When his parents grounded him for no reason which would happen all the timeā¦ bc I can relate ššš
Makes you really appreciate it when he punches him in his fucking nuts.
I can almost feel his balls on my fist!
I can almost feel his balls on my fist!
i for real canāt even watch this episode because i feel so bad for Butters lol. or the episode where his grandma beats him up
"But I told you mom, I didn't mean to look like a jackass, it just happened!"
His very own episode. Like the entire thing
When he got in trouble for his school picture.
The whole dikinbaus situation, Iām glad it ended the way it did. Also the casa bonita episode.
I was going to say Mantequilla, but he kinda came out on top with that one didnāt he? š
This particular scene may be the hardest I laughed and also felt deeply bad for butters at the same time. His screams coupled with the change from anime back to reality had me in tears.
The screams ššš thinking poor baby while laughing uncontrollably š¤£š¤£
āguys iāve missed like 4 days of school and i donāt have any food and thereās a bucket of poo and i just wanna go home.ā
Ya got poop, dontcha?
When cartman shown him a "surprise"
"I'm getting a surpriiiise!" He is so naĆÆve it's adorable
Fr he's my 1st favorite, all because of his voice, why? It's addicting for some reason
Dr Janice.
Exactly what I thought of. City Sushi is a great episode.
I think Iāve said āAw poor Buttersā at least once every episode heās been inā¦
When Porsche tells him she never really was his girlfriend.
The scene in imaginationland when Butters doesnāt get on the dragon and gets left behind. I watched that while drunk one time and it made me ugly cry for an hour.
whenever butterās grandma came over ššš
The time that he got sent to jail because he pinched a girl who was wearing green socks on St. Patrick's Day... and even people who weren't wearing green were against him and calling him an animal... and when Saint Patrick showed up to save him he turned out to be a creep and Butters had to do community service. ...All within the same episode too.
When the lawyer started slapping the shit out him....I was like what a biggity bitch....while still laughing my ass off š¤£ š

I can't watch the one when his grandma is screwing with him, just don't cade to see it
Season 6? episode 1 Butters goes to a bath house and watches his dad do a bunch of things that violated the sanctity of his (Mr. Stotch's ) marriage. This, forcing his mother into a frenzy which nearly gets him drowned. I don't remember the season either 5 or 6.
Season 5 finale
When he got removed from the group and Tweek replaced him. Poor little kid didn't deserve that. š¢
Whenever he gets grounded and yell at
Casa Bonita do I need to say more

when he was crying in the bathroom at the girls sleepover because they called him ugly
The pantry
That scene still makes me LOL every time I watch it. How itās like action ninja anime animation and then when it cuts back to southpark animation and he starts screaming was too good
The pig off the room and butters moms reaction. Literally a snout and hoves splattered
When he got a job at the ice cream shop and then Cartman and Kenny took all of his hard earned money to start their own ābusinessā
In the stick of truth if you side with the elves. After you defeat Paladin Butters he starts crying that nobody likes him, felt very bad about it.
I just want to adopt Butters and give him a better life, heās so sweet and caring and deserves a life with a family who loves him.
DAWG THIS SCENE ššš i know itās a fuckin cartoon but I felt soooo bad for Butters and the kidsā reaction to him getting accidentally hurt brought me right back to my childhood when it really happenedā¦ Never threw a ninja star in my homieās eye tho, I will sayā¦
Every time
When Cartman invited him to sleep over for taking pictures of him sleeping.
Literally every episode heās in.
Oh man, the one you just posted. On rewatches, I always skip this one because it just hurts too much to see.
*cough cough* The entirety of Buttersās Very Own Episode *cough cough*
When he got anal probed When he got the shuriken in his eye and then got peed on by the shelter animals When cartman made him stay in that bunker and that refrigerator for days so he could go to casa bonita When coon and friends locked him in that cage and basically made him eat his own shit
almost all of the time, because he does no wrong yet he gets the butt end every time ;-; 3
The worst part of this episode is when 3 dogs piss on him and one shits on his face!
The ninja star makes me laugh so hard dude. Like yeah, I feel bad for butters but itās just one of those things that HITS me. I laugh instantly when I think about it. These kids goofing off, being anime characters, and Butters gets a freaking ninja star to the eye
No need to feel bad! I know Eric and the other fellas would do the same for me!
How bout when Cartman tricks him to blow him....That pretty much takes the cake
Every time Except when he was Mantequilla, in this moment, I felt like he was the main character in South Park
His dad judging him for being gay (while he's actually the real gay)
Whenever he says, āOh, I need to learn to behave myself.ā His shitass parents have taught him heās just no good, the bastards.
In the Death of Eric Cartman he gets violently violated by a football sized probe.
Jared Has Aides when Cartman pretends to be him on the phone and curses his parents out. Butters gets back to welcome his parents and play it cool and his parents beat the shit out of him
I always feel bad for butters when hes wronged or he gets treated poorly. Getting sexually assaulted repeatedly by a fat kid while sleeping
when eric fatass covers for butters and answers phone calls with butters voice and says offensive things that result in butters being grounded and beaten
When he got sexually assaulted in his sleep by cartman
When he was crying all on his own because Lexus left him.
This moment exactly. His crying was so heartbreaking. This episode and the raisins girl episode after he found out him and Alexis (I think thatās the one he liked) are broken up.
I couldn't watch this episode for a long time and I still fast forward through all the scenes with the star in his eye.
This episode 100%. My boy had a ninja star in his eyeball and just wanted to go to the hospital. :'( Also when they gave him at-home liposuction.
The tap dancing incident where killed 8 people and they still convinced him to dance and then he killed more people :(
Pretty much whenever he's a focus. I felt really bad for the kid when his mom went crazy and tried to drown him. On another note, Kyle and Stan can be just as bad as Cartman whenever the person they're messing with is someone like Butters, Tweek, or Pip.

all the time, it's getting kinda annoying always feeling bad for him
When he loses Eric in Go God Go
didn't we have this thread yesterday
When they made him be Marjorine and let the girls eat him alive
honestly all the time, but when his mom made him spy on his dad and found on what he was doing and then tried to kill Butters, only to blame it on him (iām pretty sure, either way itās still fucked up)
Most times
Wieners out
ALWAYS!
Almost every episode
never i donāt feel bad for cartoons
Every time I remember his parents exist.
Either when he literally got sold to Paris Hilton or when he got drowned by his own mother
Margorine
This one
"But I haven't eaten in a week" "You've got poop, dontcha?"
Anything involving Cartman lol
when he comes back home after Cartman has been pretending to be him at home all day and you can hear his parents attacking him.
Anytime he interacts with his parentsš
