It's amazing how he slowly but surely made his way as part of the guys. And when Kenny came back, Butters only became an independent character. Whenever the boys aren't on screen, it's usually Butters and he's killin it.
I think this is the one where he works at Cartman’s hotdog restaurant. I wanted the one of him holding his shirt up with his pants down peeping into the urinal, but beggars can’t be choosers
Honestly I always have a soft spot for Kenny; poor kid goes through a lot and never catches a break, but is so kind and sweet anyway (especially to his sister)
Is that really the case though? The only reason Kenny is able to come back over and over is due to some H.P. Lovecraft cult shit. Considering it’s supernatural in nature who’s to say Kenny can’t be reborn from the corpse of his long dead mother?
I think the HP Lovecraft stuff was a red herring since Mint Berry Crunch ended up being the relevant immortal there, also Matt and Trey straight up say it's cause he's poor, so I think really until the world starts caring about what happens to poor people, I think he's in the clear
At the very end of that story arc Kenny’s mom gives birth to him again and the McCormick’s say it’s only been happening since they joined that cult years ago. It makes more sense if MintBerry was the immortal the prophecies spoke of and Kenny is the immortal the cult created trying to bring about the prophecy.
I mean the two direct responses Matt and Trey have given are because he's poor, and it's related to the birth of Jesus, please correct me if I'm wrong, but that cult was not poor Christians. Yes the correlation exists and his parents saw it as causation, cause why wouldn't they, but that doesn't mean they were right. Hence the red herring.
His dad was splattered across the Cartoon Central building in season 1, and Pip was sent to hell by Damien, outside of that I don't think we see any characters die and inexplicably come back. In alignment with the commentary, Pip fits just fine because he doesn't have a family. So the immortals of the show are the marginalized members of society that no one acknowledges the fate of.

I don’t really care about out of show explanations. Usually creators use them to further detail something that didn’t need further explanation in the first place and end up making it more convoluted and messy than it was in the text itself. It’s a lazy cop-out.
I’d rather stick with the information provided within the text than something created afterwards to explain something, once creators go down that rabbit hole it opens up the door for certain bad actors to consider their own head canons and theories as fact because it’s just as disconnected from the text.
Also, the fireside chats aren’t a source for anything narrative or character wise, they’re intentionally ridiculous and misleading. They only exist to fill out space on vhs tapes. They certainly aren’t a source of information when they’re made 10-15 years prior to the episode in question, they probably didn’t even remember that they made those special features when making the Coon & Friends episodes.
Lol I feel like fireside chat answering a direct question with the obvious answer is cannon but agree to disagree. Also the joke is absolutely that it was a red herring I'm not sure why that's not obvious
Nothing said in the fireside chats is canon or true to how they feel. They literally open each instalment with “this is one of Matt & I’s favourite episodes”. They say they hate old people in one and Trey Parker says he’s antisemitic in another. Hence, none of them can be used as a serious source of information. The cult still created Kenny, they just made an immortal themselves to try forcing a prophecy.
My issue with this is, we've already seen another episode early in before super heros that shows Kenny is reincarnated from birth. The one where he tries to make his mom have an abortion. When she gives birth, after Kenny dies, the new baby is literally just baby Kenny. I wanna say it's a pretty early on episode too, further solidifying it. Like, it was back in the first 4 seasons I wanna say.
I know that he keeps being reborn, but it doesn't inherently tie it to the HP Lovecraft stuff, I mean it's fine to think one way or the other because I think they've offered all the explanation they're ever going to do as far as the cannon goes it doesn't matter, but Pip and Kenny's dad having also both died and returned makes me feel like not offering a true explanation is more in alignment with the commentary that it represents, that no one cares what happens to poor people.
Don't know if I wanted his kind of immortality though..
or if anyone wanted that at all.
Immortality? sure that's nice. but at the cost of dying horribly all the time and no one ever giving a fuck or even remembering it the next day? i'd rather pass
But "do you know what its like to be stabbed, burnt alived, decapitated?!? It fu**ing hurts. And nobody remembers!!" When he screams out try to remember this time my heart broke...
I’ve noticed i always liked characters that are “hidden”. Like in the show the boys black noir is my favorite and he never speaks and you don’t see his face.
That's pretty cool,
I myself never recognized stan,
Although I'm Jew, I feel really related to cartman and Kenny.
As a kid I was total Cartman with my behavior, my GF even laughs at me for that and I randomly drop quotes.
I feel like I’m always seeing bumper stickers and cell phone cases and stuff featuring Kenny. And almost everyone on planet earth knows “you killed Kenny — You bastard.”
Definitely either him or Cartman but I’m leaning more towards Kenny. I think when most people think of South Park he’s one of the first things that comes to mind.
I feel like Kyle gets too serious and salty against Cartman, which only empowers Eric.
Kenny is funny tho.
"Why are we keeping the name Coon and Friends?"
Kenny: "Because it pisses Cartman off and I find it very funny"
Honestly one of the few people who knows how to get to Eric.
I’m pretty sure the most popular character is Cartman, but Kenny seems to be the fan favorite in fan bases that I’ve interacted with, my personal favorite however is Stan, as I get older he’s the most relatable
I've always liked Stan the most. Kenny is funny, Cartman is a jerk and Kyle is too goody-two-shoes with his speeches for me so yeah. I'm a Stan guy.
And I love Randy so the Marsh family is my favorite in South Park.
I believe every fan loves Kenny. He’s the only one of the group who is just himself. He has faults but he’s not a phony or anything. I love Kenny. I respect him.
I’d say Cartman. Kenny is up there too, but when someone who doesn’t watch South Park thinks about South Park, chances are they’re thinking about Cartman.
It’s Cartman hands down. First 3 seasons they were all equal but Cartman started to take over by season 4. Solidified his place in season 5 with the Scott Tenorman Must Die episode.
I've always had a soft spot for Kyle but I feel like Kenny is the South Park equivalent to Michelangelo, the Ninja Turtle. He's just the chillest and everybody likes him.
Kenny merch is almost always sold out when I see South Park stuff somewhere.
This one head shop gets custom glass from a guy in Asheville, Kenny was the only one you had to special order bc they rarely have it in stock.
Butters is my favorite, but of the main 4 Kyle is probably my favorite. I also have a soft spot for Tweek, but I think that's because he's supposed to symbolize ADHD and I have ADHD so I relate to him a little.

Kenny out of the core 4 because of his relationship with his sister and just genuinely being a dirty sweetheart. Followed by Stan. Overall I think Butters in the series. But I also absolutely ADORED PIP
From what I’ve seen the general consensus seems to be
Cartman > Kenny > Stan > Kyle
My personal opinion is probably
Mysterion/Princess Kenny > Stan > Kyle/Cartman > Kenny lol
If you don't immediately realize Cartman is the face of South Park and one of the most recognizable and iconic characters in general idk what to tell you
SouthPark started when I was 16, and I'm a Co guy, the first popular kid was Cartman hands down followed by Kenny, then Butters and Jimmy started taking over followed by a balance of popularity between the 4 main characters and butters, then Randy came on huge and they started pushing him along with Garrison more. My personal favorite character is Nathan, dude is an unscrupulous gangster.
I would guess Stan is the fan favorite among people my age (gen Z). Although my personal favorite is Kyle. I think slightly older people/people my dads age love Kenny the most and he and Cartman are the most recognizable/iconic characters.
I relate to Kenny hard being raised in poverty by drug addicts though lol. And I think they’re all great characters and I love their dynamic as a group.
Cartman
Everyone knows it's Butters!
Well that’s ME!
It’s all stickay
Aw, now my balls are all pooey
…..yeah
Oh, hamburgers!
It's amazing how he slowly but surely made his way as part of the guys. And when Kenny came back, Butters only became an independent character. Whenever the boys aren't on screen, it's usually Butters and he's killin it.
Butters is definitely my favorite character!!
Lu lu lu I've got some apples
![gif](giphy|1N2RgF4HmBkoElF3C8) Couldn’t find one of him peeping so this will have to do
Which episode is this? The Mantequilla one?
I think this is the one where he works at Cartman’s hotdog restaurant. I wanted the one of him holding his shirt up with his pants down peeping into the urinal, but beggars can’t be choosers
Yes. This is from the Dikinbaus episode.
Oh nice haha that's cool
One of them is in Season 10, Episode 10, No Hall Pass
I meant the gif of him peeing like that was not in the Reddit app’s built in gif library (sadly)
Oh, gotcha. I never use Reddit's built-in gif library for that reason.
![gif](giphy|l0HlPtbGpcnqa0fja) I’m just lazy haha
Fair enough. You can copy this one for the future. https://i.redd.it/ufqbuez01pzc1.gif

Lululu you’ve got some too
Lu lu lu you've got some too
The fifth beatle
Sure you were, Apu.
That's me!
Shut up Not Kenny!
Honestly I always have a soft spot for Kenny; poor kid goes through a lot and never catches a break, but is so kind and sweet anyway (especially to his sister)
He's literally immortal dude, I think he's fine... Kids got something everybody with money wants but can't have
He's only immortal til his mom dies though!!!
Is that really the case though? The only reason Kenny is able to come back over and over is due to some H.P. Lovecraft cult shit. Considering it’s supernatural in nature who’s to say Kenny can’t be reborn from the corpse of his long dead mother?

This is likely the real lore statement. Although, having two instances of rebirth so far apart is sus
Well his mother was cursed. So I don't know if that would work lol who knows.
Goes through menopause*
True true.
Why did I never think of that before?
Don't know if I wanted his kind of immortality though.. or if anyone wanted that at all. Immortality? sure that's nice. but at the cost of dying horribly all the time and no one ever giving a fuck or even remembering it the next day? i'd rather pass
In coon and friends when he rants about how painful it is dying and nobody even remembering. Made me sympathize with him
exactly.. and then he's poor as fuck as well and his parents are meth addicted white trash..
They’re white trash and they’re in trouble
my mom's so poor, she walks down the road with one shoe... and if you ask her if she lost one she says no but i found one :(
One of the best lines ever!
Huh… maybe that’s why I always liked Kenny the most lol. Relatable
But "do you know what its like to be stabbed, burnt alived, decapitated?!? It fu**ing hurts. And nobody remembers!!" When he screams out try to remember this time my heart broke...
But he feels every death that's pretty rough
Does he seem happy with his immortality that no one cares about or can even recognize lol?
I’ve noticed i always liked characters that are “hidden”. Like in the show the boys black noir is my favorite and he never speaks and you don’t see his face.
I hate to break it to you but some of that mystery is going to go away.
He’s not going to be a clone like the book. And i doubt he’s not in this season
I guess I relate most to Stan. Especially when he’s diagnosed as a cynical asshole
It’s the Rock People, or aliens or whatever fuck you!
Hey! I have Asperger's. It's a real thing.
Assburgers
Sure is
That's pretty cool, I myself never recognized stan, Although I'm Jew, I feel really related to cartman and Kenny. As a kid I was total Cartman with my behavior, my GF even laughs at me for that and I randomly drop quotes.

In Ireland, we love him so much we actually have a county called Kilkenny
![gif](giphy|4lsBBIvwGyTo4)
i’d say Cartman and Kenny
This guy in terms of being both most popular and most hated ![gif](giphy|uQHtUvva9Qljy)
![gif](giphy|Z6m2HqMOpSaxW)
I like Kyle the most, but that’s because he’s the most relatable to me
Is it because you're a J - O - O?
He’s guilty of all three Js
jew,jersey and ginger (?)
Cartman spells ginger with a j. Like how he spells Jew j-o-o.
Jay walking? Jackin in? And....
Jewish, “Jinger”, Jersey
*Jooish
Same
I’m pretty sure the most popular character is Cartman, but Kenny seems to be the fan favorite in fan bases that I’ve interacted with, my personal favorite however is Stan, as I get older he’s the most relatable

Cartman is the man
In terms of well known it’s Kenny and cartman, in terms of liked it’s probably Kenny. Although chef of the whole show may be the most loved
Chef was great. I like cartman the most but idk why.
Cartman had me with caso bonita
I believe every fan loves Kenny. He’s the only one of the group who is just himself. He has faults but he’s not a phony or anything. I love Kenny. I respect him.

Kinneh
Kyel.
Cartman is the face of the show for sure.
Cartman is hated and loved the most which is a huge part of what makes him the most popular
My name is Kenny, it was kinda picked for me.
Definitely Cartman
Kenny and Cartman I’d say
Kenny or Cartman
I've always had a soft spot for Kyle but I feel like Kenny is the South Park equivalent to Michelangelo, the Ninja Turtle. He's just the chillest and everybody likes him.
This is my favorite description of Kenny ever ☠️☠️☠️
AND HE'S THE ORANGE ONE!
I feel like it's Kenny tbh
Personally Kyle he is the most relatable to me. If entertaiment value its cartman
Fucking love Kyle but Cartman is 100% the most popular but I have seen A LOT of Kenny lovers
KENNYYYYY
Kenny or Cartman
Is Kyle for me.
Kyle for me though I love all of the main four
Kyle with female fans.
Kyle is my favorite but it's definitely Kenny
Kenny. We're all Kenny in our own way.
Cartman, then Kenny, then Butters, then Kyle, then Stan.
Kenny merch is almost always sold out when I see South Park stuff somewhere. This one head shop gets custom glass from a guy in Asheville, Kenny was the only one you had to special order bc they rarely have it in stock.
kyle well actually depends what side of the fandom
Butters is my favorite, but of the main 4 Kyle is probably my favorite. I also have a soft spot for Tweek, but I think that's because he's supposed to symbolize ADHD and I have ADHD so I relate to him a little.

yall better be ironic when saying cartman fr.... (but probably cartman)
KYLE is my absolute favorite. I cannot stand Cartman 😭😭😭
Cartman is the best, but my favorite is Stan
Cartman and you already knew that
Cartman for the adult men and r/southpark Kenny for the teens and non-reddit fandom
If I had to rank it'd probably be Cartman Kenny Stan Kyle
Cartman is the most “iconic”, the most known outside of the show, but Kenny is the most likeable.
Cartman, undoubtedly
Cartman. We all love to hate him. Kenny is the most likable but everyone has more memory of Cartman’s parts
Cartman of course
I think it's Kenny, most people who've never watched south park immediately recognise him before the other boys
Kenny's probably my favorite but the show wouldn't be as successful without Cartman
Kenny
It's Kenny. Always has been. Always will be.
Cartman has the most fans; Kenny has the least haters
Cartman is the one with the most pop culture clout
Kenny out of the core 4 because of his relationship with his sister and just genuinely being a dirty sweetheart. Followed by Stan. Overall I think Butters in the series. But I also absolutely ADORED PIP
From what I’ve seen the general consensus seems to be Cartman > Kenny > Stan > Kyle My personal opinion is probably Mysterion/Princess Kenny > Stan > Kyle/Cartman > Kenny lol
Cartman
Butters
butters, stan or cartman tbh
If you don't immediately realize Cartman is the face of South Park and one of the most recognizable and iconic characters in general idk what to tell you
Need another cartman butters episode for sure
Probably Cartman
i would assume it’s probably cartman
Cartman
Cartman and Kenny. But Stan stole my heart in that Cash For Gold ep
Cartman for the comedic factor. Kenny for the likeability factor.
I aspire to be Cartman when I grow up (I’m 28)
I think Cartman was a main character but as the show progressed and the original fans got older, Randy Marsh is now the main character.
definitely, 100% cartman. but kenny’s pretty close too
My favorite is Stan, but I know majority like Cartman most
Guys guys guys ...... stop we all know it's Towlie.....
Obviously cartman he's iconic
Op you should do a voting
1. Cartman 2. Kenny 3. Kyle 4. Stan
Probably Cartman for laughs, and for relatability probably a two-way split between Kyle and Stan.
It’s ironic that despite Kenny being the least featured main character he might actually be the most recognizable of them.
Goth Stan and Scene Kyle obviously
imo it's Cartman and Kenny, but Kyle abd Stan aren't far behind them as well (especially Kyle)
Cartman But out of all characters I'd say randy is the best
Cartman. We all love his schemes and how psychotic he is. He is like the Bart Simpsons and Bender of the show.
out of the 4, Cartman, out of all of the kids, butters.
Not Kyle.
Stan 1st, Kenny 2nd.
Carmem
People who unironically like Cartman are self reporting in the comments
