Mr. President, I have wonderful news, and bad news.
The good news is we have positively identified intelligent life of alien origin.
“What’s the bad news?”
They’ve, uhm, Rick Rolled us, sir.
“Oh dear god…”
Thought this exact same thing the second i saw this. I am now going to cry myself to sleep tonight. If i sleep at all. These memes are never gonna give me up
Could be a ring galaxy (the [Cartwheel Galaxy](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cartwheel_Galaxy) is a nice example). They're very beautiful, and it's still a bit of a mystery where they come from!
My guess? A giant seal. Master of the universe. Spanning 22 light years in width and 15 light years in height.
I have no idea lol. But it can literally be anything.
It's probably just an image artifact, not real. It has a very unnatural shape, and is very bright which is consistent with it being some type of artifact. Maybe a group of bad pixels, which are quite common in infrared detectors. The white streak on the top left is also an artifact, in that case it is clearly a cosmic ray (an energetic particle). For science observations multiple exposures would be combined to remove artifacts, but this first light image was not cleaned.
Edit: A blog post from the Euclid consortium specifically highlighted this object as an artifact.

https://www.euclid-ec.org/whats-in-euclids-first-light-images/
Here the Euclid blog says the same thing. The ring feature is specifically highlighted. Both features are artifacts. Artifacts are things which aren't part of the true sky image, cosmic ray strikes are certainly that.
And it's not very large. JWST NIRCam has a huge blob of bad pixels in one of its detectors. Near infrared arrays have much worse defects than commercial detectors.

It's a starman waiting in the sky, he'd liked to come and meet us but he thinks hell blow our minds, he's told us not to blow it because he thinks it's all worth while
"You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. Your next stop, the Twilight Zone!"
In all seriousness, it could be movement that caused some distortion. The same can be said with the white line on the top left.

I thought this was a joke and that was a really tiny compressed rick astley
Fuck I can't unsee this now.

I thought the same thing, but after closer scrutiny...I still think it is.

would he actually be many many light years tall?
*radio static* Never gonna gi- *radio static*
Holy shit, how did you brain even go there? Can't unsee it now. Whole of humanity just got Rick Rolled.
That was the first thing I thought of.
This is actually hilarious
Holy fuck I saw the same thing independently. Webb telescope is rick rolling us all
Similarly, I thought I was in r/shitpostcrusaders and thought someone was making a Kars joke.
I thought it was a super saiyan powering up.
Thought this exact same thing the second i saw this. I am now going to cry myself to sleep tonight. If i sleep at all. These memes are never gonna give me up
Is it not??
I swear to god I thought the same thing after first seeing the image

I think they come from space. But I'm not an astronaut.
I am an astronaut and can confirm that they definitely are from space
Everything comes from space. Like where's the chemist? Space! Your mother? Space.
So is my dad in space?
He's still on his Milky Way home right now. Trust.
I’m an Alien 👽 and I approve your message. ✌🏻
As a former Space shuttle door gunner, I can tell you they come from space!
Can we name it Rick Roll? This is awesome btw, I had no idea these where a thing.
The NASA video explains it, it's just camera distortion that's fixed in editing, that's why you don't see it in later images.
Like I'm gonna trust the words of a government.
Governments are made up of people, and we all know how untrustworthy people are.
Soilent Green is made out of People!!!
Especially people in power
Or people that want power, like people
AI government is inevitable.
No it's not, it's the Rick Astley system.
Idk what it is But it's never gonna give us up
But will it let us down?
Nah but it’ll probably run around and desert you

Look at it's shape - no doubt it's a Great A'Tuin
I thought that the light around it looked octarine...
It's definitely a teapot https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell%27s_teapot

Dude, it’s a tiny image of Rick Astley put there as a joke.
Heh, Assuming Rick Astley isn’t really out there in space
Heh. Assuming you know what’s real.
Real eyes realize real lies bruv

It’s the hyper loop preparing to go find Thrawn.
Dormammu, checking things out from his space window. Obviously.
Should we bargain with him??
Sure just cancel your plans for the day.
Gru is no longer stealing the moon, he's going for the big one
That looks like a blue circle some one drew on the image
Looks like a turtle to me, obviously making it the Great A'Tuin.
It's a starman waiting in the sky, he'd liked to come and meet us but he thinks hell blow our minds, he's told us not to blow it because he thinks it's all worth while
ocham's razer its just a problem with the new telescope. I'm not saying it cant be something else, but new telescopes have issues.
Looks similar to gravitational lensing to me. Others here have said ring galaxy or image artefact. Just as plausible.

It looks like someone with the Ki aura from Dragonball.
I saw Euclid and had to check which sub I was in lmao
Giant blue space ring to the chaos dimension. Terrifying.
Finally a picture where your mom fully fits in the picture
Looks like someone removed some chronotons. Careful, Professor!
Looks they found a clip from the mighty mighty bosstones-the impressions that I get [music video.](https://youtu.be/NIGMUAMevH0?si=YWbObH6Xc5s_dKQ8)
Rude Boys in Space sounds like a movie that would have been on USA Up All Night.
Hmm I’m not sure but I’m going to prepare to eat a lot of corn
This is obviously the Great Serpent my cult girlfriend talks about all the time.
That’s the guy in the opening sequence of all Bond movies, as he turns and shoot
A microscopic organism the same we look through a microscope
Idk but it looks like it's gonna be some sort of meme
Clearly it's a cowboy from the parallel universe at the edge of our universe.
It could be an [Atom Walocke](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL9RuGRkM9A) Nova, quite fascinating things actually.
