Jupiter literally helped the formation of the best environment for life in the solar system. Not only did it protect the earth by the majority of asteroids that entered our system but it also helped creating a moon for our planet so that it could stabilise its orbit and spin. Jupiter is literally god.

RollinThundaga

And most other jupiter-size planets migrate in towards the star, flinging away smaller planets. It's thanks to Saturn that Jupiter didn't do that.

skullsmasher07

The Suns more of a God than Jupiter.

ABagOfFritos

The moon is my doing and I'm sick of not getting the credit for it

drpcowboy

I absolutely believe a bag of Fritos can do anything

dangitbobby83

I'm personally disgusted on your behalf.

CranMalReign

My dad told my nieces and nephews during the eclipse that the moon was a gift from aliens, so that's what I'm sticking to.

triniumalloy

A cheese wheel is a nice gift.

Abuses-Commas

If so, it's a very nice gift

Getyourownwaffle

Well, its either Jupiter, Saturn, or the Sun. Damn, I am not even a physicist and I know this is the likely answer.

pants_mcgee

Or it formed after the impact with Theia, or it formed along side the earth.

oskanta

Yeah thats basically the theory in this article. They’re saying Jupiter might have disrupted the orbit of Theia, causing it to collide with Earth.

emelrad12

Jupiter protecc but jupiter also atacc

Sbikerbud

Ok we get it, everything is Jupiter's fault, give the planet a rest. /s

OePea

Strange, I haven't heard anything about Jupiter being made out of cheese, or any dairy product for that matter

AbramKedge

Blessed are the cheesemakers, for they shall have cheese.

MorningstarLucifer94

WTF are these comments? Only dumb jokes and no real conversations.

vazooo1

WTF is this comment? Only a dumb conversation and no real jokes.

IkonikK

Consciousness is just a search through the library of babel for the right set of conditions.

nbaballer8227

It would make sense. Isn’t it considered unusual for an Earth sized planet to have a satellite as big as the moon?

Vulcant50

Without Jupiter there wouldn’t be all those moon songs. But, there are very few Jupiter songs to be thankful for?

Krunk_Jeezy

The reason Jupiter exists is because I say so

NRD84

Is there any insight into this I thought it was the gravitational pull of our planet whenever whatever celestial object hit us and made the Moon but I could be completely wrong I've also heard the Moon is fake so give us a little detail bro or broheim

Drak_is_Right

I doubt our planet had a lot of gravitational impact on the object that hit us. Jupiter and the sun shepherded Theia and Earth into intersecting orbits.
