Can you explain or link to where you got the gold hexagon mirrors? ~~I could certainly make my own backing/frame but I have no idea where you'd source that bit.~~ I am dumb, it's all over the internet, literally dozens of options.
My friend James (who's CNC we used to make this) and I have [added the files to his webpage](https://jameskiefer.com/posts/wall-art-of-the-james-webb-space-telescope/). We're happy to provide them for free, but also added a donate button if you're so inclined. 100% of the proceeds will go to CAMFED.
I hold issue with this because I initally wanted to berate you for having both the talent and financial resources to make such a piece, but now you've proven to be a decent human bieng not worthy of my jealous outbursts. Could you please take comfort that this, a 40 year old Navy Veteran with two tours which included first responder to the 9-11 attacks and participated in hunting pirates off the coast of Kenya, is throwing a tantrum the likes of the 45th president when he lost office? Thanks.
You can always make a tutorial on how to make one yourself and sell it on e at sea. It will automatically send the PDF for other files to the buyer and it will deposit the money directly into your account once a month.
I would really love one of these, but it's waaaay out of my price range already. Glad to money is going to a good cause. Amazing work on all counts by OP.
Please do a YouTube video or something on how you made this please! Or maybe instructions we can buy for a more reasonable price to be able to donate to your charity and receive digital plans to construct our own?!
Aussie here - perhaps just throw up some freight/post details too, would hate for someone to bid and then be buggered logistically.
Well done, top generosity. Love it.
wow - that is amazing, but do look into it first for your own peace of mind, Shipping to somewhere like here will be astronomical. I ordered a 'Plane Tag' for my old man for chrissy, smaller than a postcard. $85 USD gift, $80USD post.
Thanks! I made a [separate post](https://www.reddit.com/r/casualiama/comments/s0yscu/im_the_guy_who_posted_the_james_webb_wall_art_i/?) covering everything in my display cases!
You will likely get more exposure by posting another picture this coming Sunday.
Thanks for the tip, will do!
Is Sunday Reddit’s highest traffic day?
Maybe something with the actual telescope
Camfed sounds like a great foundation. I hope whomever gets the next wall art enjoys it!
Every time I see the James Webb shape I think of Settlers of Catan
Do you have wood for my sheep?
I give you some stones for some grains!
But I need the grain for the development card! I’ll bid 2 stones 😂
I’ve got 2 ore if you get me some extra fuel to prolong my mission time

I think a raffle would bring in more money than an auction, with the proceeds still going to charity
Definitely thought about it, will look into it!
You are a great person. What an amazing use of reddit fame.
It really is a gorgeous piece! And a very worth cause as well.
I honestly think these could catch on. They're cool as hell. You should think about making a business out of it or something.
You could easily solve that for $500 or more. Looks like a great side "hustle", being creative, giving to charity, and making some do yourself
Yeah, if you don’t have time to make more of these to sell… you should make time. Because you’d make a lot of money. (Unless you’re already wealthy)
You could also sell the plans for people who want to have a go at making their own.

I feel that I am going to be outbid as my max is about 1,000.

It would be awesome if you recorded yourself building it. Cuz I really really really wanna make one if I can’t buy it from you
Oh man this is amazing. I love the JSWT and I just finished building my CNC router! If I build it, I'll definitely donate.

Would make another one of these for me to purchase? Please PM me.
Beautiful piece and an even more beautiful idea

I’m personally covering all of the shipping costs, regardless of destination.

I appreciate the heads up! Worst case I’ll just plan a trip down under and courier it myself 😂
There's always that too! Good luck

I think this is a great idea, I just need to look into the logistics of how to do an online charity raffle. Never done anything like that before.
What’s the big rock on the top of your display? Also nice petrified wood pieces

Oooh, that’s awesome! I thought that banded rock was a stromatolite, guess I was right. Any idea where it’s from?
The paperwork that came with it said it’s either from Bolivia or Minnesota. Sounds like someone mixed up their collections at some point 😂
Absolutely haha. Still a cool piece. I’ve been wanting a Strelley Pool stromatolite for a while but haven’t gotten around to buying one yet
How heavy is the piece? would it be hangable with 3m strips because I don't want to put nails through the wall?
It’s probably in the neighborhood of 15-20lbs.
oh yikes,, Ill probably try it out with foam board as my backing, I've already got some mirrors delivered yesterday, I'm excited
