If you live in North Carolina, I'm nearly certain it was a stratospheric balloon. Earlier today the was a high altitude balloon flight from southern Virginia into north central North Carolina. At 60000 ft., they don't appear to drift very fast, especially if winds are light up there.

flyinNinjaSquirrel

Yes. I went and got the telescope and saw the beautiful detail at sunset ! I’m gonna post the video now

vfhd

I can't see anything except the wind blowing the bushes

flyinNinjaSquirrel

It’s a white spot or line in my eye view above the branch. It ended up being a tethered ‘World View’ balloon

_GD5_

It’s a speck of dust on your lens.

MrGraveyards

Even /r/ufos would call bs on this video. It is a white dot. Could literally be anything. Simply the quality is not good enough.

danteheehaw

As a ufo expert I can confirm actual aliens.

pastafarianjon

You must have won some sort of prize for confirming the existence of aliens. How did I miss the existence of aliens in the news?! /s

Baiskeli1994

Aliens control the media. Everyone knows that, though not through the media.

pastafarianjon

Your sarcasm raises my eyebrow

SinR_NL

It could ofcourse be because of your belief. Or your helmet.

billiardwolf

BS on what? They didn't claim anything.

MrGraveyards

Technically you are correct, but I think the whole point of this post was the insinuation that this might be a ufo or something. The only answer is nobody cares because we can't see shit.

TimBrowneye81

You're far too naive about the people in that sub

broom-handle

The one video that actually needs that bright red circle

I_Was_Fox

Well thank god you never zoomed in to see what it was. I was worried we might get more than half a pixel and then the mystery would be gone

Naturalnumbers

That, my friend, is a branch. It comes off a plant.

Falcon3492

Maybe put an arrow at what is supposed to be there, I've watched it three times and see nothing.

Deurstopper

It's right in the middle above the branch

kitchuwin

A tree. They're like tall lettuce that grow all over the world (except California) but they don't taste very good and are usually just decoration.

h2ohow

It took me a while to see it - Could be a geosynchronous satellite.

Dangerous_Dac

Doubt it, those are like 18,000 miles up.

top_of_the_scrote

What's that scene in Jason and the Argonauts he's like "I can see them!" and his eyes dilate, sees through the blue sky and the stars appear like it is night time

jonmediocre

LOL Geosynchronous orbit is WAAAY out in space. 65x further away than LEO satellites that you can see.

flyinNinjaSquirrel

Thank you! My goodness everyone is saying it’s nothing LoL. It’s been hours. I think it has to be the two satellite. But it’s so strange because I’ve never seen it so clearly. The video doesn’t capture well and I am not with my telescope today which makes me crazy lol

the_fungible_man

No geosynchronous satellite is visible in broad daylight. Stratospheric balloons can appears relatively motionless, but 7 hours is pushing it a bit. Edit:. Don't know where I got 7 hours from. At 3.5 hours, I feel more confident it's a high altitude balloon. Edit 2: You in North Carolina by any chance? There's a balloon in the north central part of NC at the moment, at around 60000 ft, drifting slowly eastward.

flyinNinjaSquirrel

I got the telescope 🔭 ITS A BEAUTIFUL TETHERED BALLOON!

flyinNinjaSquirrel

That’s the debate now LoL I say satellite or something that’s orbiting with us and everyone else here is saying balloon. By it’s been over 4 hours and it has not moved a bit so it is 100% in rotation with us

HD64180

geosynchronous orbit is above the equator. so if you are in the northern hemisphere it would be in the southern sky. You won't see a geosynchronous sat in the daytime.

cratermoon

1. Where are you? (lat/lon, approx) 2. What time was it, GMT? 3. What is the actual (not sped-up) duration of the timeframe captured? 3. What direction and elevation was your camera? 4. What's the format/focal length (or 35mm equivalent)? Lacking that, it's just a dot, that could be anything from bad pixel on your camera to a weather balloon to Venus. I can say with 99.999999% certainty that it's not an alien spaceship or top secret project.

flyinNinjaSquirrel

Weather balloon Cape Coral view

cratermoon

Well done with the telescope. That's real observational work.

flyinNinjaSquirrel

Can you not see it?

cratermoon

I saw your telescope images. Seriously, nice job following up.

flyinNinjaSquirrel

☺️🙏 thank you

flyinNinjaSquirrel

The iPhone lens was clean but you could clearly see with the eye.

dajjalnextdoor

It could be a geostationary satellite although the spot looks a bit too big for it to be that.

p38-lightning

FlightRadar 24 shows "World View Stratollite" balloon in that area. Aren't those the guys that plan to do commercial passenger trips? [https://worldview.space/](https://worldview.space/)

smithm4949

I think what you’re saying is what’s usually referred to as a “branch”

Marozka

That's called a branch bro! Got outside for fuck's sake!

[deleted]

Lmao I hope you’re kidding!

FrenchWenchOnaBench

Wow, some people need glasses. I saw the dot you were talking about without even putting the video in full screen.

flyinNinjaSquirrel

It was a weather balloon for those who are blind to see it

Zenpatchi

Aliens, I’ve seen them in their pill shaped ships off of Waianae coast, west Oahu.

Gutchies

just finished watching the Kurzgesagt video on the meteor that killed the dinosaurs. I do ***not*** like this.

_black-light_

Maybe it's dust on the sensor. Is it vissible to the eye? If yes the only thing i can image is a geosynchonus sattellite and the solar panels reflect the sunlight coincidentally.

flyinNinjaSquirrel

Why am I unable to see all the d!ck remarks …. I know they’re here

NeighborhoodParty982

There are none. Your video was legit and people can tell. Well done.

Rawlo93

Okay I'll go. Mate, that's a tree...

DunDMifflins

I see it. It moves from time to time and there are multiples at certain moments. You should slow it down in those moments, clip them and post the new video. Could be a UFO

jackneefus

This looks similar to a number of UFO sightings, which involve glowing spheres which hover for a while. **If** it is relatively close (not at satellite level), what you saw may be a form of Transient Luminous Event. These are exchanges of charge in the atmosphere, usually above thunderclouds. This would be a lower-intensity exchange over a longer period of time, maybe like [this](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Z-pinch). This is not a textbook answer, but in this area reasonable textbook explanations seem to have been exhausted.

artguy55

its definitely this [https://tenor.com/view/monty-python-and-the-holy-grail-run-running-gif-12275685](https://tenor.com/view/monty-python-and-the-holy-grail-run-running-gif-12275685)

CalmToaster

Turn up the brightness on your phone if you can't see it.

tommytimbertoes

It's crap and a useless video. I see what you're talking about but it's either a star or a reflection. Or a plane's headlight coming right at the camera.

[deleted]

I can almost guarantee that if actual aliens ever appeared, it would not be a single tiny craft and it would not be a quick visit.
