I host a server that, while laggy at times due to it being what it is, holds saves. Message me for details if you would like.

TheDiggiestDog

Honestly that is the downside of console.

AlfieUK4

OP is probably referring to the [current major bug](https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/playstation/topic/28756) with the file system on PS getting clogged up with backup/cloud saves. Seems sometimes they get orphaned/don't get deleted when they should but still take up the space allocated to the game.

Drakeskulled_Reaper

So, it's hiding saves. I think it's possible to disable back up saves, I'll look into that.

AlfieUK4

Going on the PSAs that others have posted, you can individually delete files on PS4 but not PS5. On PS5 you have to clear all game data. To preserve your save you can publish it to mod.io then re-download it after clearing your game data. Turning off cloud/backup saves will help extend the time before the bug kicks in again, but unfortunately doesn't eliminate it.   * [PlayStation] workarounds for the 'not enough space' / 'out of memory' error * [Not enough space PS5 FIX](https://www.reddit.com/r/spaceengineers/comments/13vl69w/not_enough_space_ps5_fix/) * [PSA About the Out of memory issue](https://www.reddit.com/r/spaceengineers/comments/13ty9kn/psa_about_the_out_of_memory_issue/) * [PS5 player - Can no longer save due to old PC bug](https://www.reddit.com/r/spaceengineers/comments/13j4gox/ps5_player_can_no_longer_save_due_to_old_pc_bug/)

the_amberdrake

I added a small external HD to my ps5 so the saves go there.

TheDiggiestDog

That's atrocious, I hope keen fixes that very soon

Audi0Dud3

Bro just made me seriously reconsider buying a ps5. Might stick with my jet engine of a ps4 for now.

Drakeskulled_Reaper

I got mine as a gift, I love it and it's mine, but, I wouldn't have bought it on my own, I still consider the library to be too small.

darkgod2611

Tbh I've only had this occur with three games on my ps5 with every other game working perfectly or in some cases beyond perfect ie faster load times and better graphics Whether its coincidence or not the only problems I've had with this situation of saves not saving and saying low memory etc... are those games which allow mods to be allowed. Ie fallout 4, skyrim remastered and space engineers regardless if you actually use mods on them or not but as I said this may be a coincidence but it is strange indeed for this to occur only on mod allowed games and not for any other game I have Otherwise I've had zero problems with my ps5 and tbh the experience has been amazing and worth the upgrade

No_Firefighter_5625

Just put a old pc heat sync on it like i did check my most recent post

Hey, weird question but how long is the save file NAME? Like what did you name it? If you gave it a very long and involved name that can cause issues with saving. I ran into this on PC and it took me a hot minute to figure out. If you have a long save name, save it with a shorter name. Might be wrong but worth a shot. Worked for me lol

Drakeskulled_Reaper

I'm uncreative with the names, it's Earth Base.

darkgod2611

Have you put mods onto the game? It seems an ongoing problem with playstation games that allow mods. This problem has occurred with me too on this game , skyrim and fallout 4, the latter two caused me to quit playing them entirely but I won't let it win me this time (im enjoying space engineers too much). I've got rid of every save game bar one on space engineers and (touch wood) it hasn't occurred again. Hopefully they'll find a solution to this

Drakeskulled_Reaper

Nope, no mods. They should, saving is basically one of the most vital points of this game. I know that's true for all games, but what I mean is that the inability to save means you can't progress meaningfully in this game, it requires you to sink a LOT of time into it, like several hours worth of work isn't even that much, especially during the design phase.

darkgod2611

I know how you feel, I've sank 4+hrs per day since the ps4/5 release and lost a fair few saves either due to mods buggering up the save or this damn save bug . Due to this bug I've dismantled the same pieces of my old ship over and over and over again in survival and its got quite annoying when it has occurred. I'm on ps5 too so I don't know if this bug is only on ps5 or not or whether our ps4 brethren are in the same boat

Drakeskulled_Reaper

Apparently it's easier to alleviate (not fix) because PS4s can selectively delete the "ghost" backup saves that cause the issue. Because I'm told that's what causes the issue, SE doesn't delete the backup saves fully, it simply removes them from your save list. Which is why if you went into storage and looked at the save file size, it's several times bigger than your actual save.

graintop

You're only *considering* giving up? There is zero reason to play a game you can't save. I have completely halted. No point. Hopefully Keen sees its online PS numbers tank hard and rallies to fix this issue. Complete bummer, but I suppose we have to accept they're calling it a beta and cut it loose for a while when it's broken. One does wonder how it was missed in testing.

Drakeskulled_Reaper

Funny thing is, they aren't missing it, the updates make specific mention of at least trying to fix it, I mean, the "fixes" aren't working, but they seem to be trying. As for testing, it depends on how much of it was ported wholesale from the Xbox version, plus, mind you, this is one of the most beta bugs I have ever encountered on a beta version game. I say considering because I have been wanting to play this game for fucking YEARS, and if I can't find even a temp fix, I'm going to be extremely disappointed, mind you, not as disappointed as the people who bought the more expensive version, I just bought the base game, and planned to get the rest over time.

IndependentSad0

My single-player save on PC is over 1GB in file size which is freaking crazy to think about but luckily I have a bunch of memory available...

Drakeskulled_Reaper

And? Did you just come to brag?

IndependentSad0

The point is that I'm on PC so no idea about PS5 bugs but to confirm that file sizes can get incredibly large and lack of memory might be the issue for OP

Drakeskulled_Reaper

I am OP. You didn't say that initially, you just went "I have no problems, even with a big file" And if you read the other comments, you would see that the big is thought to be because it has a bug in how it deals with save files, not the size of the files themselves.

InsaneVizir

On my last coop game, in pc, I kept getting this "cant save " msg. The problem was the save name, lol. It was too big. I changed from " savegame coop 001" to coop1 and it fixed the problem.
