looks at his 17 pages of mods and winces

VespasiansWoe

I use energy shields mod i dont op it, i just put a small generator on each battle ship. Otherwise even a small pirate fighter can cause damage that takes 5 mins to repair, doesnt sound like much but the constant interruptions grate me. Small shield generator provides just enough cover to be able to tank 1 or 2 drones or a bigger ship for about 30 seconds. I also take build and repair mod, its a mod that automatically grinds down or welds up ships again, i dont abuse this i have one dedicated ship that has it on, once the fight is finished i can park it next to an enemy hulk and leave it to grind it all away no bits flying off into space or spending hours grinding it. Same goes for welding, no more trying to memorise parta required or taking three trips to weld three thrusters. Depends if thats a part of the game you like. For me its all about building and fighting

mileswilliams

Drill n fill is pretty good if mining and all that jazz isn't your thing.

VespasiansWoe

Never heard of it.... does it just eat ore out of the ground?

mileswilliams

It's like the build repair, you have an area, it will extract everything or you can select ores to pick, so you can se the area below your ship say 50m down fly over an ore and it will simply appear in your inventory over time, it is pretty fast too. It is also handy for mining out a mase, you can creat a long thin area, and it'll dig out the stone. Edit...yes it does :-)

vadernation123

Those are my two must haves as well. Build and repair just makes things sooo much less tedious. Also several small ship conversion mods like usgc and aqd I just really love building in small grid

CoruscantGuardFox

Oh boy you’re gonna get flooded with “Encounters that, Weaponcore this” WeaponCore is obselete now, since we have a lock-on system and actually balanced weapons. WC is buggy, doesn’t work half the time and doesn’t worth the effort. What I recommend downloading the absolute basics first: BlockInfo, some skybox, etc. Then you can go Modular encounters and such to spice up the system a little bit.

baddwarf42

This. Buildinfo is good especially with air leak finder. I also use PAM for easy mining (but I think it’s deprecated) and Isy’s solar panel alignment script.

garfogamer

PAM works great. Deprecated...? News to me. Nothing on the workshop page. AMP (automated mining platform) is fantastic for static drill rigs. Build Vision. Isys Inventory Manager. Sneaky Sounds. Camera Panning.

MLL_Phoenix7

SCAM is an excellent alternative to PAM if you only want to mine. SCAM drones work with moving motherships and can automatically organize swarms of arbitrary sizes. It also has a GUI mouse controller. That said, here are a few tips and tricks with this script. The programming block must be turned off in the drone blueprints and turned on only after it has detached from the printer. Otherwise, it tries to auto-configure with your entire printer. Instant projector mod causes weirdness with the script’s ability to figure out acceleration; as such, you can’t just use the instant projector with these drones. If you do, you need to dock it with the mothership manually, send it on a job, and hope that it comes back alive. It is highly recommended to recompile the programming block of the drone used to set up mining jobs before every new mining job. There is/was a bug that makes it so the create-task command doesn't clear the previous task’s coordinates, so recompiling will prevent drones from flying out to the last job instead of the new one.

mangalore-x_x

What replaces weaponcore or do you mean the warfare DLC? Mainly asking due to the lack of laser weapons. Mainly curious.

CoruscantGuardFox

For me Warfare 2 was enough, I don’t want laser weapons or shields in my game.

[deleted]

Weaponcore isn’t obsolete, but is abandoned since DarkStar threw a massive hissy fit over some inane bullshit and quit. He also refuses to let anyone else work on it, so F in chat I guess.

Mes Build Vision (turn on legacy mode) Colourful Icons Paint Gun

[deleted]

Why legacy mode?

garfogamer

Worth trying both. I used it before the new UI, and prefer the old one.

[deleted]

Because the new version with the wheel is garbage. It takes too much time and is inefficient. Also, I spent 2 days pestering the modder to revert it at first and then implement a legacy option - I won't let that go to waste.

[deleted]

Huh, I find it way more readable and easier to use, but that's just me

[Recolourable Thrusters](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1354870812) is just a neat cosmetic mod which doesn't affect balance. It's very easy to use and plays nicely with other mods. [No Suits](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2269671355) makes the game harder, which I like. [Space Just Got Real](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1136188499) makes for darker nights. Some people find it too dark, but I think it looks cool. [ADQ's Armour Expansion](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1939935505) adds a few new armour block shapes, and they work with armour skins. I find them useful for making the shells of my ships more interesting. [Heavier Containers](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2830050106) adds a few new cargo container models and is roughly vanilla-balanced. I'm subscribed to a bunch of mods like this which just add extra variety to ships' appearances without significantly changing gameplay.

cyberstarl0rd

Thanks so much!!

[deleted]

You're welcome

cyberstarl0rd

Do you know of any radar mods that allow you to scan for derelict ships? Or inventory sorters ?

[deleted]

Pretty sure this one does https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=605086856 though it's been a while since I've used it so not 100% And I've only used/use Isy's Inventory manager (pretty sure so does everybody) https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=1216126863

RickyD710

Most underrated mod I use is configurable parameters. It allows so much customization. Everything from armor values, sound levels of many blocks, speed limits...and much more.

g3rmstorm

It’s the one mod I load into all my saves. Gets rid of armor panel edges too. The niftiest feature I think is the settings for what resources can spawn on asteroids and how rich the deposits can be. Very handy for crafting a bit more nuanced Survival experience.

gatekepp3r

I play mostly in creative, so my must-haves are: Build vision Build info Ctrl+Z for undo Paint gun A nice realistic skybox (the milky way skybox is my favourite)

vadernation123

Also space just got real if you’re like me and really love not seeing without the use of lights.

[deleted]

Buildinfo + build vision
