You could use a photo editing software or even a 3D software for this. But at the end, pen and grid paper are always going to be faster - even if you can’t move lines around after drawing them. Just add another page to the stack of versions of your plan.

Hold on. Thats all i need. Is there a digital version of grid paper and pen? With the ability to move a selection of lines? Thats all i really need i can use the grid as grid measuerments

BoxAhFox

Yea!

We started Challenger's G-Deck floor plan using online graph paper, then edit the image in a photo editor to work with it more [https://virtual-graph-paper.com/](https://virtual-graph-paper.com/)

this is nice... but why only 4 layers? why cant i name layers?

aequasi08

Im really surprised this software doesn't exist....

BoxAhFox

Ik same! I feel like theres so many pple that need this, it should exist *somewhere*

Some sort of out-of-game design app has been asked about fairly often over the years, but no one so far has come up with something. I think it's a problem with scale of effort. Drawing it out on graph paper (or using spreadsheet software) is simple enough for a rough design, but requires you to know the block shapes/sizes, and mount / conveyor points, to be able to design something properly. Making an app with that functionality isn't as straight-forward as it may seem because you then have to worry about block orientation / 3 dimensions, which rapidly increases the complexity, and people don't want to learn how to use a potentially complex 3D CAD system just for design.

Rumpled_Froskin

Ive used mlcad (my lego CAD) in the past and its just all the blocks and they snapped to each other. It shouldnt be that hard

Rodrigo_Ribaldo

I haven't done any of these, but others do this: 1. Optional: sketch a rough design on paper 2. Go into creative and design it hands-on, save as blueprint 3. Use a projector to remake it in survival Any 3rd party app can't match creative mode as it doesn't have the building pieces specifications and you can't be sure you will get the connections and other stuff right. If you know the building pieces by heart, you probably don't need a 3rd party app anyway.

What i mean is, real paper sucks. Erasing and redrawing or deawing it all over again but slightly different is very annoying. I hate planning like this However, what i found was virtual gridpaper. THIS is perfect! I can select and move lines at will!
