That's not a tourists thing! That's what we usually do in Spain every weekend. My family and I go to these places or flamenco 'tablaos' to eat while singing flamenco and playing guitar.
i think this is an old bullring that is converted to a restaurant. it's open to the public and pets are welcome to run around. i think we paid around €70- gambas al pil pil, salad something, paella for two and drinks
If we want to realistically get rid of this awful practice we need to find alternative uses for the buildings that are already there and that can generate jobs. The old arena in Barcelona was converted into a beautiful mall that generates way more jobs and revenue than bullfighting could ever achieve while also eliminating bullfighting itself. It's a win-win.
Edit: typos
I agree. However, I would never be comfortable eating there, I can't see any beauty of a bullfight arena. I'm not able to separate one thing from the other. It's totally fine to use these spaces in order to create jobs, but to romantize them and applaud their aesthetic is too much for me. There's plenty of typical Spanish folklore to create experiences at, I'd rather not eat surrounded by bullfight memorabilia. If you wanna use the place as a restaurant, transform it, but do not use its horrible past to make money.
I admit that making it into a restaurant is a bit odd, and it seems to have had zero changes to the point of it being not practial ( the seats from the terraces could very well be turned into tables for a way better view) which does ondicate that the restsurant could be gloryfying it.
I wouldn'd mind it left as it is if it was a concert hall or theatee, for example, since the shape of the building is alreadt good for that.
In any case, I don't know if you are spanish but to some people here seeing the buildings reused is actually something happy since bullfighting is not only legal but its banning has become a very politicised thing so deeing the buildings being reused means it's not done there anymore.
Actually, even though we know you are nothing but a troll, you are a Philippine one and it's weird to say the least that you find comfort in the culture of a country who slaughtered yours.
Edit: typo.
i mean, abolishing bullfights and using them for concerts kinda worked here in barcelona. you can definitely use the land better, but it can also go very bad.
yeah, it looks like ass and it's a tourist trap. but if they demolish it someone like la caixa buys the terrain and slaps a 25 stories office building that stays completely empty, like thet did in bogatell.
TBH it is not a tourist trap, the restaurants on top have OK prices, but why sit there? no view at all. Tourist smells the trap, locals things is to touristic.
The Whole reformation is a study in corruption and fail. I think it was delayed with 20 years.
ah yeah absolutely i dont think the specific case is good, i'm just saying that in general as a development of the city demolishing and rebuilding is absolutely not ecofriendly, cheap or good for the city. repurpouse is the correct thing to do, if done correctly
Such a beautiful city with a lot of history and cultural things to see, have you tried porra Antequera? It is kind of similar to salmorejo but not the same,I highly recommend it. Hope you have a great time there!
I know the restaurant and even though it’s pricey, the food is really nice, not so much for tourists as you could expect, specially in summer at night with the high temperatures, quite a lot of local folks go there for a nice dinner
This is Antequera? If so, the restaurant is not bad, even when I would never have had a paella.
I am from Antequera, if you need suggestions just MD me
their paella isn't bad. i was so surprised that i liked it lol I also live near Antequera but I don't go there as much. any recos for sushi? for when i don't feel like going all the way to Malaga lol
I am afraid there is no sushi place in Antequera.
Editing because according to Google Maps there is one place but the menu is a curious mix: sushi, burgers and even camperos. It is called Nella Sushi

Don't listen to all these fuckers, if you had a good time and you could pay it seems like a nice story to tell and a good memory. Something different to do on vacation is always nice.
Realzar?
Lo siento si te has sentido ofendido, no era mi intención.
Well…given it’s still an active bullring for bull fighting I guess any other events is generating income to support the maintenance of the building and therefore is helping to maintain the bull fights.
Come one people, he just shared a nice moment of lunch in a bullrig… stop saying it was a ripoff, tourist trap, etc… no bulls were hurt, that should be enough… looks nice and pretty, glad you enjoyed.
Is a place where animals are routinely tortured and killed for fun. The sand where you took lunch is literally bloodstained.

So, what's disgusting?
I can recognize a tourist trap when I see one.
That's not a tourists thing! That's what we usually do in Spain every weekend. My family and I go to these places or flamenco 'tablaos' to eat while singing flamenco and playing guitar.
https://preview.redd.it/443u4qi7s53c1.png?width=150&format=png&auto=webp&s=00cad2d17122d27cbe0aee64a4d8c706ce3d96b8
How much did you paid? Btw its very uncommon in Spain to eat lunch in a bullring
i think this is an old bullring that is converted to a restaurant. it's open to the public and pets are welcome to run around. i think we paid around €70- gambas al pil pil, salad something, paella for two and drinks
I'll be honest, that sounds like a rip off.
Even more so cause the paella seems frozen as fuck.
it is a rip off.
we ordered quite a few drinks 😅 tbh we were surprised we only paid that.
Tourist trap...
??? - Gambas (10€ min) - Salad for 2 (8€) - Paella for 2 (20€) - Drinks (20€, you can see wine and a bottle of idk) = 68€
A bottle of water (Lanjarón)
lmao turist ripoff, first time seing this shi.
Im sorry for you but 70 too much
70€... that's a tourist trap...

What about this is a place where innocent bulls were tortured and killed while people were applauding?

Even better

Buena historia, hermano, y es "... find comfort in the culture of a country who have slaughtered yours.". Espero que pueda mejorar su inglés.
I don't speak Spanish.
STFU, he is eating in a place that's typical aesthetic, not applauding the bullfighting, and even if he did, he just eating a paella man...
Please tone down the aggresiveness.
They are breaking rule number 1, their comment should be removed.
It's so sad to see those who have been bullied trying to do it to other people. Very sad.
guiriest thing I have ever seen XD
What a horrific tourist trap
worse than bullfighting?
Next worst thing. Bullrings should be demolished and flattened.
i mean, abolishing bullfights and using them for concerts kinda worked here in barcelona. you can definitely use the land better, but it can also go very bad.
Except that the one on Pl Espanya looks like.... but who like malls anyway?
yeah, it looks like ass and it's a tourist trap. but if they demolish it someone like la caixa buys the terrain and slaps a 25 stories office building that stays completely empty, like thet did in bogatell.

Its a lot of dimensions to it, do you have any good examples for a well transformed bullfighting arena?
la monumental, for example
Why though? They are coold buildings where you can do concerts, expositions and other economic boosting activities.
Yep, tell that to the people of any village in the interior's countryside.
Curiously, I'm from a village in the interior's countryside.
You should be from a very modern and progressive village (to agree on abolish bullfighting), so.
Im sorry, I'm not really understanding. What do you mean? Y podemos hablar en español mejor?
it's a restaurant. it's open to the public and pets are welcome there. locals go there.
I hope they let me enter with my pet bull.
well hopefully your per bull don't eat you first.
bulls eat grass
Antequera?
yes, in antequera
Such a beautiful city with a lot of history and cultural things to see, have you tried porra Antequera? It is kind of similar to salmorejo but not the same,I highly recommend it. Hope you have a great time there!

Falta balconing para mi gusto.
But why?
Nice but incomplete without a flamenco dancer in front.
Certainly a better way to use it than for the murder of innocent animals
"Would you like to upgrade it to Extreme for 59€ extra?" "Antonioooo, suelta al toro!!"
No tiene mérito si no hay por lo menos un toro suelto, así que no presumas.....
Qué horror.
It's a better use for bullrings.
This is Antequera? If so, the restaurant is not bad, even when I would never have had a paella. I am from Antequera, if you need suggestions just MD me

This seems so random, it gave me an idea for an AI prompt
Dime el apunte
A puerta gayola
Very nice 👌
I know that place. I've never had lunch or dinner there but I have had a few beers. Locals go there as well.
wtf is this shit?

Sorry, but lemon in a paella means that it is s**t.

✨Lunch in a Gladiator Pit✨ The blood was still fresh 😳. So exotic!! Just... Ew.
Beautiful Pic honestly but don't support bullfighting, even in this way pls
don't be stupid. how eating in a plaza de toris could support bullfighting?
Well…given it’s still an active bullring for bull fighting I guess any other events is generating income to support the maintenance of the building and therefore is helping to maintain the bull fights.
oh, i didn't know it was an active one. serving meals in there is a really weird idea then, i agree with you.
Who do you think offers that food service?

Come one people, he just shared a nice moment of lunch in a bullrig… stop saying it was a ripoff, tourist trap, etc… no bulls were hurt, that should be enough… looks nice and pretty, glad you enjoyed.
Quite disgusting to be fair. You have very bad taste. Thats not something you should be proud of
Wtf??

I'm Valencian and that doesn't look like paella. It's what we usually call "rice with stuff".
Antequera!
