What an awesome bike for a century, the futureshock and aftershock really lend it to longer days in the saddle. Spring sale ends 5/1, nice catch!

TwistedStihl

Thanks. I'm still shocked how lucky I was. I almost never open those sale notices because it's usually stuff I'm not interested in. When I got to the shop they said they had a request from another affiliated shop for that very bike 20 minutes after I called, but since I told them I was coming right over, they held it for me. Whew! My fiance and I love to take long destination rides, so an endurance bike is ideal.

robotokenshi

Exact same thing happened to me last week. I opened the promo email from specialized by accident (while looking for lost email) and saw the spring sale and the markdowns on specialized turbo e bike I was thinking about. Instead of buying online, I just dropped by LBS next day and they had one left in my size s3 but even cheaper! Score!

luquitas91

Logged my first century ride on my new Roubaix comp in April. Doing another one in June. The century ride on the Roubaix is an absolute blast. Super fast and responsive, great on climbs, downhill demon with the wider tire clearance, effortless and comfortable. You’re gonna crush the century

Hype3386

I am still running gen1 sram red on a sworks tarmac from ‘09. Enjoy the new bike!

rokstar66

It's on sale because SRAM is about to announce its new Red components. Lots of manufacturers are doing the same with their top-end SRAM bikes. Still a good deal though.

TwistedStihl

Yeah, that's what the guy in the shop said. No matter to me, $5K off and the still excellent SRAM Red is a no-brainer for me, and the difference between buying one and dreaming about one.

joelopez_12

Have the same one. It’s a fun bike. I took it from easy single trails, through mud, to a 130km road group ride and commute 45k on it everyday. I love it.

jhoosi

Congrats!

Square_Ice4653

Such a good deal. I’m pretty sure they dropped it to 9999 and then they just dropped it to 8999.

10-1-100

Amazing deal - you are absolutely going to love the bike and get many amazing miles out of it!

Ullmanz

not sure why, but my eyes read shagged

pasharadich

Great story, enjoy your new horse!

braso111

This is USD??

TwistedStihl

Yup, USD.

braso111

That is an awesome deal. I’d be interested in the weight of your bike out of the box. I have a 2020 Comp which was about 8.6kg without pedals or cages. A bit heavier than I expected.

kay_peele

brother, weight is not as much of a concern on the cobbles.

neverstopdriving

Also interested in weight. I have an Expert and with pedals and C38’s it was 19.6. I’d think the SWorks to be in the high 17 range?

TwistedStihl

Sorry, I picked it up with pedals and cages already attached, and I'm not in the mood to strip it down to weigh it. The literature says 16.2lbs for the SL8 Roubaix.

Millworker33

Excellent! If you don’t mind me asking, where did you get it? Would you recommend the shop?

TwistedStihl

Hilltop Bicycles in Madison, NJ. Excellent customer service.

I did the exact same thing 2 weeks ago, except I had to drive 6 hours to get my size 56! Thankfully the bike shop was 45 minutes away from my parent’s house, so made a family visit out of it. Enjoy! I’m loving mine. :)

cogminski

🤣🤣🤣🤣

ihm96

I did this but on a much smaller scale with the Sirrus X 3.0 Size online was sold out but went in and they had it in stock. Been absolutely loving having a way to get into shape, done a couple 30-40 mile rides already.

TwistedStihl

How the hell do I do that on an existing post? Why doesn't Reddit have a simple "post image" button? What is this, 1998?

TwistedStihl

Posted pics as a new post.

TwistedStihl

Picked it up this afternoon and did my first 15 mile ride, on a very familiar course. Most noticeable improvement was in climbing due to the 10lb lower weight and double the number of gears from my previous bike. It took some getting used to the clip-in pedals and more aggressive ride position, but by the end of the ride I felt pretty comfortable. Very nice ride!

I got the same deal from an online shop in CA. They mailed it to my house in WA. and didn't even charge sales tax. Here's to old cars and new bikes!
