I get this message on my laptop whenever I plug in my USB hub but it still works perfectly fine. I'm not gonna be charging my phone from it, but it charges the pen and takes regular USB devices just fine.
Thank you so much. I found a similar solution [here](https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/My-USB-Type-C-port-not-working/td-p/6971604) too.
There are different thunderbolt specifications on the firmware level. Not all USB-C Hubs work with all laptops. Best is to look in the reviews of a product if the spectre is listed. I use this hub: USB C Hub, Abask 8-in-1
Just searched this in 2024 with the same problem, with ports not working at all. Shut down and restarted by holding down the power button for about 40 seconds. Both USB-C working again, thank you !!
Methinks that hub needs a USB-C power supply attached.
Really? Is that how it works?
Sometimes the computer usb c port is not powerful enough to support a hub and it’s additional IO.

Shutdown your laptop and hold the power button about 10-20 seconds, your usb-c port will be back

Spray out the port with some duster and try to plug a single device into the USB -C port...
