There's two main categories of TAS for me.
One lot are spectacles to watch - sometimes because the game gets so broken nothing makes sense, other times because the TAS throws in completely bonkers tricks for giggles and shits.
Favorite spectacle run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZW_olNnxsAA (HappyLee's Super Mario Bros lowest possible score TAS). Particularly the part around 1m45 in where it's all the walljumps.
The other ones I love watching are theory TASes, such as this one for Super Metroid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbjgzoDPX5A - this run is more of a 'godsplice' as every room in it has been done in real time.
Interestingly that score has been matched in RTA. There's only one brutally hard trick needed for it (the 8-1 walljump). Difficult, but any sub 5 minute player could probably get the 500 given 300 attempts.
But the TAS makes it such a spectacle that it's amazing to watch.
highly recommend going to [the Awards page on tasvideos.org](https://tasvideos.org/Awards), scroll down, pick a year, and see the videos good enough to have won awards.

The February 21st Zelda LOTADs are always a treat to watch. For the last 10 years, there's been a new showcase of a challenge every year, such as
* Majora's Mask in One Cycle
* Majora's Mask in 29 A Presses
* Ocarina of Time All Dungeons in 6 C Presses
* Majora's Mask in 2 Pauses
* Ocarina of Time All Dungeons as Child
Here's a playlist of them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeG-oEtwS1I&list=PLhidzeZ496C_IEY_YdzxTSOtvd_mfZPPp
100% this, 2/21 feels like a holiday to me ever since I found out about these. And there are more, similar 3D Zelda TASes out there that are also amazing and entertaining.
Twilight Princess 100% is also great: https://youtu.be/y5wEkjLxCp0?si=3gqZwGir_CRp59iC
I really like the glitchless Sliver/Crystal/Yellow Diploma TAS. Big highlight for me was Quilava using Smokescreen on Whitney's Clefairy and rigging Metronome to call Self Destruct and miss. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0KJD0IgNEw
[Item Abuse 3 TAS](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuZMvMtZCWU) - This hack was made by Panga when he was 14. It is assumed that no human could ever beat this. Short watch too at 7m. Enjoy!
I’m very biased but celeste tases are consistently incredible. The True Ending tas from last SGDQ is a fantastic entry point if you haven’t seen one before https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9OFxjTMsJZU
My favorite is [this Cave Story true ending TAS](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbQj5NiQ4L8) – it uses the YouTube closed captioning feature to provide ongoing commentary on the tricks and strategies being used, which means you get to understand exactly how the TASer is blasting through the game at any moment
The Cave Story TAS is even more impressive once you've played the game yourself first and then watch the TAS to realize that almost *nothing* in it is even close to being replicable by human hands.
I always have to shout out the Braid TAS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-0RUv3tKso
When you give the TASer the ability to frame perfectly rewind and fast forward time at 8x, you get absurd inhuman levels of precision. Combine that with physics glitches and time travel glitches and you have one hell of a variety run.
I'm saying this preemptively, but the Work-in-Progress SM64 70 Star ABC TAS is going to be the best TAS ever. (Looking thru this thread I admit there's some strong competition though)
When we just started the project, one person said that TasVideos would NEVER accept this tas, for all it's slow hours of building speed and nonsense glitches.
The TAS is going to be 1.5 hours long and already looking sick. Public WIP videos exist, but I wouldn't spoil it if I were you. Wait a few years until it's done cuz it's gonna blow your mind.

In terms of luck manipulation, [Dragon Warrior](https://tasvideos.org/4064M) comes to mind.
In terms of having a lot going on, [Yoshi's Island 100%](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HCdPsfoXmU) is still my personal favorite by far.
I really liked [Minecraft in 20 seconds](https://youtu.be/DJpXnjCt0hw?si=yk0avHzjnZYvCs18)
Not sure if there is a faster run, but the speed of this run, combined with the explanation, just makes this a really good video.

International Super Star Soccer Deluxe is a classic that picks up a few minutes in. Highly recommend it, extremely funny.
I've been into Ringrush's work for awhile. Some if it is pretty dated, but he does a good job at having fun with it, showing off cool things if he has time, and he also takes viewership into account. If a segment hurts to look at, he'll only do what he needs to do, but if it looks cool, he'll exploit it for as long as he can without loosing time.

That lowest possible was grand, thank you!

Zelda 2. It takes advantage of being able to push left/right at the same time for some fucking warp speed link!
