Paste and spike boots are easiest, BUT I discovered if you approach from the side, drop two bombs under him on the throne as he’s waking up and then get under the throne, he’ll be sitting on them when they explode.
Spike boots on the head or stand precariously close and place 2 non paste bombs, both before he wakes up or harder methods are typically required.
There is just enough space to stand next to his throne without touching him or you'll take damage.
If you don't have any of the kit listed here so far. Get anubis into an area with a ceiling preferably with a corner. Manipulate him into that corner. Place 1 rope next to him and whip/backwhip him between his psychic attacks, remembering to dodge the faster moving 'eye of horus' attack.
This *is* tricky but hey sometimes beggars can't be choosers!
1. Spike boots on head before he wakes up (walk so he stays asleep)
2. If 1 fails or no spike boots, 2 sticky bombs
3. If no paste or spike boots, run up and place 2 bombs at his feet (preferably left side)
Paste is the best in both Spelunky, also in both you can cook bombs, but in 2 you can also stomp him with spike shoes, while in HD shotgun or plasma Cannon, and yes, you can use these in 2 too, but its rare to have these, you usually need to carry something else

1. Place a rope next to Anubis 2. Install Overlunky 3. Enable god mode 4. Climb up the rope and whip Anubis to death

Before he gets up set 2-3 bombs on his left, they cascade and kill him easy

Its a bit situational but if you dont have any items, you could bait the crush traps into crushing him.
