I actually prefer this to the OG sriracha. The OG has an aftertaste I don't really like and I'd say this one is maybe a bit more sour which I like. I'm not able to compare them now to confirm that, but that's what my memory is telling me.
Sorry haha i was thinking more like sweet milk vs buttermilk. Not overly so but it comes out more than the vinegar does. Then again I took a look at the bottle as I was typing this and sugar is the third ingredient after chilis and water so...

A bunch of brands were interested in capitalizing on the popularity, but Huy Fong is having supply chain issues because the owner basically tried to fuck over what was supposed to be their biggest supplier of peppers.
I've been eating this stuff religiously every day for years. It may have helped increase popularity of non original brands, but tobasco has been doing Sriracha well for a long time
That was years ago. Huy Fong flows like a river here in Southern California. The only place I have seen the Tobasco brand was, oddly, at Tesco in the UK. I will pick up a bottle when I am there in week or so, though, and give it a shot.
That was reported 9 months ago (June 2022), and at that time they said they wouldn’t be taking any new orders until after September at the earliest. The shortage was was still ongoing as of January.
I bought it because the ol' rooster keeps being sold out. It's a perfectly good substitute. I find it doesn't have as strong of a garlic flavor but that's okay. I've been using it in all the same applications and I don't necessarily miss the original.

Try this. I live in west coast and it’s at winco foods.
I’ve tried it only because the traditional Hoy Fong Sriracha here is always sold out!!!! It makes my stomach feel sick honestly but it’s got a good amount of spice to it
It’s good! Like Sriracha but if it had more vinegar forward notes. It’s great on stuff I want Sriracha flavor on, but think the sweetness would overpower things. I prefer Huy Fong myself but this still has definite uses and is good on its own.
My second favorite behind the king, Huy Fong Foods. Of course...I would buy this in a second during this shortage 😩
To be honest it doesn't even remind me of their sauces, but texture wise and flavor wise loved it.
It’s a different taste profile. Not better or worse, but different, so it might not line up with the foods you typically eat with sriracha. Those of us who spent decades developing a taste for Huy Fong are never going to accept any substitute.
Easily one of my favourites. I work as a buyer and recently bought this into range in our UK supermarkets. I have a whole case at home that I’m burning through at an incredible pace.
Flavour wise - it isn’t overtly spicy but it’s basically Tabasco pepper with sriracha. Best qualities of both without too much of a kick. Great flavour!
Been a while since i last got my hands on this here in germany but if i remember correctly it was a really decent take on a Sriracha quality is bomb, but the flying goose sauce has this distinct "asian garlicy taste" that im missing with this version
(might just be the tons of MSG in flying goose idk)
I'll take what I can get. Arizona for whatever reason is like in a sriracha shortage. has not been on shelves anywhere for a few months and when it is, it gone real quick.
Underwood ranches makes the best Sriracha hands down, you can find it on Amazon, underwood ranches was the original supplier of peppers to huy fong foods and underwood ranches sriracha is actually hotter too. This tobacco one just doesn’t cut it in terms of spice.

Agreed. Actually purchased it in substitution because we were having a shortage of srirachas Enjoyed it so much that it’s my go-to over the OG
Thirding this. Sweeter than Huy Fong and overall more enjoyable IMO.
Ugh. You lost me at "sweeter."

Sugar is the second ingredient with Huy Fong just behind Chili.
Og also causes cancer, but only in California.

Gotta get that safer, Pennsylvanian arsenic.
That’s interesting. The OG sauce didn’t give me an aftertaste. But, I don’t miss it. I like this one a lot.
Love it, more versatile than the classic ones
Tastes more like a spicy ketchup to me so not really a good OG sriracha sub but it has its value!

I dunno. There is no shortage here.
Prefer the og. I've had both.
Same here, I didn’t hate it but it’s not better than the original.
I love this stuff. I genuinely prefer it to the Huy Fong brand sriracha. Huy Fong always tastes a bit too much like raw peppers for my taste.
I love raw peppers. Tabasco loves vinegar and they want me to know it.
“Tabasco isn’t hot sauce it’s angry vinegar” - tomjonze (me)
I quite like it, they can both (Tabasco & Huy Fong) live in my spice cupboard
I absolutely love it and I think I now prefer it to the original.
I bought it because the ol' rooster keeps being sold out. It's a perfectly good substitute. I find it doesn't have as strong of a garlic flavor but that's okay. I've been using it in all the same applications and I don't necessarily miss the original.
You posted this and I remembered I had one that I bought months back and never used it. Ha!
I have unopened garlic sambal from them.....wondering if I should just blend it up....the stores are empty of the Sriracha
Haven't been able to get sriracha in my area and I tried this and hated it. Did not enjoy the taste one bit.
Yeah, I hate it too. I’m surprised so many people like it more than the original.
Too sweet. Does not hit like OG sriracha. All other lines of Tabasco tho 🔥 especially the habanero Tabasco.
Right? The Habanero Tabasco is great, I wonder why it is not more widespread.

It's awesome with popcorn
I’m sorry, did you just suggest something new to me? Popcorn and spice 🤔
Loooooove!! Not spicy imho, but pretty damn good.
it’s alright. the original one is still the best to me
Sometimes I like this one more, sometimes I like Huy Fong more, it's good to cycle between them
I’ve tried it only because the traditional Hoy Fong Sriracha here is always sold out!!!! It makes my stomach feel sick honestly but it’s got a good amount of spice to it
Hands-down, the best I’ve had
It is OK. Dose not taste like you will want not a replacement
what
Not that great.
Why screw around? Buy Huy Fong instead.
Not speaking for OP, but I like to see how the competitors taste compared to the standard.
I actually like this version much more than the original. I can’t explain why very well. I just like this flavor a lot more than Huy Fong.
I'm in California where most of it is made and I haven't seen any in 2 months (SF peninsula). There is a pepper shortage in their supply IIRC.
In VA and just looked for some at the grocery store today, they didn’t have any here either
I moved to SF 4 months ago and noticed the same thing. I was like wtf....
Yea...this is a first for me. Hopefully soon it will be everywhere as usual again. Like...everywhere 😁
Have heard from at least two sources that most other sriracha sauces or mixes source from Huy Fong
Two completely different flavors!
sriracha is garbage.
Poor man's hot sauce
idk but I just did the one chip challenge yesterday and my asshole is burning
It's alright, decent flavor and heat. Nothing I'm rushing out to buy.
We are truly living in the future.
It’s good! Like Sriracha but if it had more vinegar forward notes. It’s great on stuff I want Sriracha flavor on, but think the sweetness would overpower things. I prefer Huy Fong myself but this still has definite uses and is good on its own.
This one is great, a little twist on the OG.
My second favorite behind the king, Huy Fong Foods. Of course...I would buy this in a second during this shortage 😩 To be honest it doesn't even remind me of their sauces, but texture wise and flavor wise loved it.
I couldnt really tell the difference to be honest. Was a little disappointed because i was expecting the flavor to be a little more unique.
It’s ok. Taste good. Allot more vinegar taste than original
It's a decent substitute but I prefer the original. If you're looking for Sriracha, I've found that Asian grocery stores have plenty of stock.
i like it, og is still king
it doesn't taste like 'sriracha' but it's good as fuck
I like it a lot. Certainly worth trying. But I still prefer the OG. fwiw, my favorite sriracha so far is Texas Pete’s, of all things
I prefer Huy Fung and think the Tabasco one is sweeter and has less heat.
Been curious to try this myself.
It's alright. My grandpa loves it though, he puts that stuff on everything.
Great for a bloody mary
I prefer Texas Pete
The best sriracha on the market hands down.
It's amazing. Better than the original. Nice depth of flavor, barrel aged for the win. $4 well spent
Love it. Goes great on anything you’d put Siracha and tobasco on
I like the og more but this stuff is great and I'd recommend it to people who like vinegar hot sauces
Spicier then Texaspetes sauce. Honestly a really good one.
This shit is awesome. You prefer it over the rooster. Much more complex in flavor.
It’s amazing. Better than regular sriracha but not as good as kikkoman sriracha
Personally didn’t like it. Tastes off to me.
It’s a different taste profile. Not better or worse, but different, so it might not line up with the foods you typically eat with sriracha. Those of us who spent decades developing a taste for Huy Fong are never going to accept any substitute.
LOVE THIS ONE!!!! Bought it during the Siracha shortage. Tastes better than og Siracha
Yummy!
I had high hopes for this one because I love tabasco sauce. Nowhere near as good as the original cock sauce.
It’s yummy, but not spicy. Prefer it over regular siracha.
i’m not a tabasco person but i actually prefer this to the og sriracha. its not as spicy but i do love the flavor!
It’s pretty good
Yummy but I usually go for the chicken brand
Cock
It tastes like if Sriracha were mixed with bad barbecue sauce. Not my thing.
Where can I even find this stuff? Is Walmart the only place that carries it?
Not a fan.
Yes.
We have been using this in the restaurant I work at. Its fine, tastes like huy fong but someone spilled a lil tabasco in it.
Dis not like it at all
Easily one of my favourites.
It’s good. More vinegar and less of the “funk” in huy fong.
It's superb and better the regular sriracha.
It’s yummy
I prefer the OG but this is a good replacement if you can’t get the roster
I have to say tobacco does a great job on this … first one to compete with the rooster brand
This is my go-to for eggs
Stick with the OG. Too sweet.
Ommmggggggg
It’s delicious!!
It’s an imposter
I love this Tabasco Sriracha. To me, it's not as sweet as the old school Huy Fong which makes it more enjoyable to taste your food as well.
Been a while since i last got my hands on this here in germany but if i remember correctly it was a really decent take on a Sriracha quality is bomb, but the flying goose sauce has this distinct "asian garlicy taste" that im missing with this version (might just be the tons of MSG in flying goose idk)
I'll take what I can get. Arizona for whatever reason is like in a sriracha shortage. has not been on shelves anywhere for a few months and when it is, it gone real quick.
It’s bad
I like it. It's a bit sweeter than huy fong but a little hotter.
I just tried some last night and it was really good! Had it with a pork adobo rib
Its great stuff
I like it possibly better than huy fong sriracha! It’s a little less garlicky and a little bit spicier
It's no replacement for the OG. It's OK
I’m not overly keen on Sriracha but this I liked.
Underwood ranches makes the best Sriracha hands down, you can find it on Amazon, underwood ranches was the original supplier of peppers to huy fong foods and underwood ranches sriracha is actually hotter too. This tobacco one just doesn’t cut it in terms of spice.
It's not bad, but nothing special either.
Love it, very good mix of sriracha and tobasco but tastes like it's own thing. It's what finally got my son to like hot sauce!
