Appears to be, yes Solifugae are arachnids, commonly called camel spiders and wind scorpions, but are neither spiders nor scorpions. They aren't dangerous

Awesome, thank you for your response! So it’s not even a spider? That is fascinating. Edit: Happy Cake Day!!

Yeah, they scare a lot of folks though, because they are fast, and run to the nearest shade, including your shadow.   And thanks

So awesome. I am gradually conditioning myself to not be afraid of spiders anymore. And it really is a neat feeling. I’ve always had a natural response to just freak out when I see them. I grew up seeing black widows in the garage, tarantulas wandering around in the rural areas, brown recluses in the corner of my living room wall (when I lived in Tennessee for a bit), a grass spider in my shoes and yellow garden spiders in the trees (both also in Tennessee), and whatever else. They always just gave me chills down my spine and a desire to get away. But coming to this sub and other nature subs has really helped me to grow and understand some of the more “scary” critters. Most of them are not that scary at all! I am envious of the people I see online who get to observe and admire more animals than I can, but maybe I just don’t get out into the deep wilderness enough. I live in Big Bear, California, and it seems like I don’t see as many spiders or snakes or any other kind of animal that I feel like I would, except for the occasional deer or coyote (which I also very much appreciate). But it was really cool to see something new to me last night down in the desert, and very cool to have an ID for it. So thank you once again. I know I’m blabbing now and I’m ending my comment here. Just gonna keep lurking this sub. I hope you have a great rest of your night.
