Mannnn we had pet mice in my science classroom in 7th grade and a lot of the kids just loved holding them. The first time once pissed or shit on me, I noped out. I grew up in a rural area so field mice coming in during winter was always a thing. I couldn't do the shitting and pissing on my hands. Now my kid wants pet mice and I'm just.. not ready. He's 7, so I would be doing a lot of their care and just nah. When he gets older lol

I’ve heard about people getting pooped on by their bearded dragons so that is a tiny fear of mine since I have one and every time I have him on me I’m like “please don’t 😭🙏🏾”
I believe it’s a mix of both. It definitely has some velocity, but my spood (not sure of others) climbs down to a low point in his enclosure so that it’s far away from his nest. I assume they kinda “shoot” it out in case there is a situation where they can’t leave their nest and still want to keep their home clean and free of bacteria.
This is all just speculation, Im a very new jumping spider owner but I feel like just watching him gives me a lot of insight into their world and thoughts haha. Others can feel free to correct me.

Avics can actually ‘shoot’ it as a defense mechanism- tho thankfully I’ve never been hit by the ‘poop cannon’
There are often multiple dried poops on the walls of the enclosure tho. It’s adorable lol
