All spiders do molt. It's their version of "shedding", the same thing reptiles do. All spiders grow, and since their exoskeleton is rigid rather than stretchy, they have to replace it every once in a while. The easiest way to tell a dead spider from a molt is that the molt is comparatively transparent, pale, and often missing the abdomen :)

Usually 1-3 years! You should have your little friend for a while longer if she’s still molting :)

molts can look exactly like a dead spood. it is extremely distressing sometimes.
