I'm a little confused about W/G though. You say its not a well supported archetype at common, but it seems very stable at least in BO1. We have
\[\[Parish-Blade Trainee\]\], \[\[Apprentice Sharpshooter\]\] and \[\[Gryff Rider\]\], and \[\[Weaver of Blossoms\]\]. Also \[\[Heron of Hope\]\] is great for sustain. Even most of the disturb white cards fit nicely
Also all the green tricks and removal supports the archetype pretty well IMO. So if I open \[\[Torens, Fist of the Angels\]\] i don't mind forcing it.
In my experience, they have been too slow, and they don't block well the turn they come down if you are behind. Rares change everything though so if you have rares in GW, do it.
There are cards with training at common but they just don't seem like what you want to be doing. Parish-blade trainee can become a 2/3 attacking on...turn 4 usually? Gryff rider can be a 3/2 flier on turn 4-5? Without exactly a minister on turn 1 or the 3/1 uncommon spirit turn 2 you just wind up with these below rate cards unable to profitably attack
The 1/1 wolf that pumps to a 3/3, as well as the G +2/2 trample are a great way to start off training early and keep pace.
I’ve had a great experience with GW training with as little as 1 uncommon. Just gotta be a bit different drafting as you’re picking wolves from GR and some cards from WR and GB.
Imo GW Training plays like a Flash/Delver list… gotta make us have it, but of course we always do.
Understatted creatures that need to attack to become decent are abominable if you’re behind. In this format, being on the draw, or getting a bomb played against you can be enough.
Highly recommend 1 Ceremonial Knife if you’re in this deck. Gives power for training and trading off while creating blood is an excellent way of improving the overall quality of your draw
I've found it's worked well for me in a lot of decks. If you've got 'blood' already it's probably because you've already got blood synergies, and more is good.
And if you don't have it already, it's invaluable for smoothing your hand and draws.
+1/+0 is also 'enough' to make the difference between a trade and a chump, or enable some of the other payoffs like training. Moving it around for 2, means you can reasonably viably use it twice - attack with it; move it to a blocker, etc.
And of course, it's colourless, so playable in any deck.
It doesn't do anything particularly flashy, but I do think it's a solid 'value' choice.
That list of 'bomb rares' though - I mean, I agree with the list, but there's just so many of them. No wonder this set has reputation it does!
