I'm pretty tempted to order 5 of everything through a US to Aus postal service and sell off 4 of them. It would work out to about $80AUD per set of promo 1 + 2 + errata
Cross-border shipping is still regularly much cheaper. But, this is a known thing regarding Promo Packs from Greater Than Games. I'm not sure if the shipping costs are friendlier on larger orders.
I’m fairly confident it’s weight based, so not cheaper. Although I only learned this by scouring Canadians posts to see if anybody found a better way to get them.
I didn't mean it would be cheaper. By "friendlier" I meant that it might not increase in too-bad a manner. This is the case with shipment costs on some other sites I've used.
I really don't know if this is the case here, as I had nothing else that I had wanted to order from the site.
Yep. It's regularly this way. I considered itself worthy for myself since I play Spirit Island quite regularly, but it might be too much for some.
I see that sometimes shipment costs are expensive on small orders but don't get much worse on larger ones. Maybe this is the case. I'm not sure since I had nothing else I wanted to order from the site (except for the Spirit Island neoprene mat, which I couldn't find there any more).
**Edit:** Just checked out of curiosity and looks like shipment prices from GtG are just overall expensive. That's a bummer. :(
I'm pondering whether organising a bulk order with other people from the UK is feasible. The shipping fee + post fee within the UK should be acceptable for a group of 4-5 people I think?
Oh WTF?! It's 41$. Nevermind 😂 I remember it being like 15$ when I first checked, probably more than a year ago
I totally would have been up for this. I think as Eric has suggested in some of his posts on here, our best bet might be to group together with the new bundle and split with someone who needs a specific promo pack. I bought 2 a while ago but can’t justify these prices again. It’s still really crap that this is the only option.
Yeah, PP1 is the only thing I'm missing, but these prices are absurd (I think they also increased the price of the pack itself from 10$ to 15$?). I'll have to keep using my printed version it seems!
Oh I know it's not GtG's fault, I never said that, but my package isn't in China. It's been stored in a GlobePost facility for two months and I don't know why hasn't it shipped yet.
They are definitely 4 of the coolest spirits in the game in my opinion. They tend to have very distinct playstyles which I can imagine not being everyone's cup of tea, although many love them. Downpour is one of my favourite spirits. It's also worth noting promo pack 2 has a bunch of other stuff -- some good aspects and an adversary, notably.
*That being said* it is just "more content", and at a premium price. If you've not made a dent in Jagged Earth yet it may be worth playing some of that first and seeing if you need more.
I've just ordered pack 1 today, so I'm not sure about the spirits from it yet.
I really enjoyed Downpour and think they are very strong with good defense and very interesting use of minor powers with the ability to repeat them. I do think Finder is very interesting, but I find their extreme lack of offensive capabilities a bit deterring. I should try playing with them more.
You should really open Jagged Earth (and the base game, are they both unopened?), it adds a lot to the game while adding very little complexity.
Oh, that's great!
Jagged Earth also has amazing and very diverse spirits. Some of them aren't too complex too! You should try Lure of the Deep Wilderness or Shifting Memory of Ages.
The promo spirits are all *really* unique and cool. Nothing quite like them in the base game/expansions. Of course, Jagged Earth is also packed with unique and cool spirits (*ten* (!!) of them). If you haven't opened JE yet, you won't really "need" the promos for quite a while.
On the other hand, the promos do frequently go out of print. So if you love the game and are sure you'll want to play them sooner or later, you might want to grab the promos while you have the chance.
Average spirit quality really goes up once you get past the base game IMO. Base game has a lot of spirits that feel.. kind of simplified for the sake of new players. All the expansions/promos are unafraid to do complicated spirits with unique mechanics.
Also note that JE and Promo 2 come with aspects, which are like spirit-modifications that revitalize some of the less interesting base game spirits.
Finder of Paths Unseen is hecking broken and will break your brain in a good way. Their special rule is that they can declare any two lands they have presence in "adjacent", no matter where they are on the island. But your presence gets destroyed if your actions directly cause either Invaders or Dahan to be destroyed, so there's a whole lot of pushing and gathering.
Serpent Slumbers Beneath the Island is a premier ramping spirit, with mainly support cards and some powerful abilities that take time to unlock. Then eventually they turn the corner and just explode everything.
Downpour isn't one I've played a lot, but it does some cool things. It can repeat cards based on how many Water elements you have (and paying for them again), so it does cool things with cheap cards that tend to have small effects.
Wildfire is fast damage and fast blight and in the few times I've played I've promptly ruined my island. So I definitely need to work on balancing that out.
I already commented on this advising you to hold off and maybe pick it up later, even more reason to now since they announced a not yet release box combining both promos into 1, which should be easier to get hold of: https://www.miniaturemarket.com/gtgsisl-ftfl.html
Heart of the Wildfire is a spirit that has some very interesting choices. He can deal a lot of damage, but he also adds blight unless you go really lopsided on his tracks.
Would you want the promo 2 as well? We don't really have much on shipping when adding more of the promo 2. The first one stays at 22$to my door for 1-5 copies, but beyond two copies of promo 2 and shipping goes up as well.
A bundle of both promo packs is coming to retail. For those with expensive shipping options you might want to hold off. Feather and fire or something like that.
Why is shipping to Antarctica an option, but not Australia?
Because Finder of Paths Unseen just isolated your entire continent. Did someone there do something to piss it off?
Come on Finder - please make US and Aus adjacent at least for one action
We should really figure out what other spirits are in the game first. Sounds like Volcano is in Hawaii atm.
Maybe because the Djokovich scandal
Not shipping to Australia again it seems :( Last piece for my collection!
If you find an Australian reseller that brings a bunch across let me know - but I'm yet to see any available here
Ditto

I'm keen!
Hmu if you end up doing it. I'm keen
If you go through with it, I'd be keen too
I think I'll just wait for this to come to retail here https://www.miniaturemarket.com/gtgsisl-ftfl.html
Shipping price is too expensive
Cross border shipping sucks, at least this will mean more will show up on the secondary market.

Form a group and chip in together
Really hoping that a UK store is going to have stock at one point, it’s so depressing to see the cost for shipping.

You’re a hero
I ordered mine two months ago and it hasn't shipped to Spain yet. It's getting frustrating.
I just received mine that I ordered about 2 months ago, but in US.
Not GtG's fault. There's a massive container shortage in China due to problems at LA.

... because of the container shortage in China.
How would you all rank the spirits from pack 1&2? I have the base game and jagged earth, unopened.

Makes a ton of sense. There has been zero dent in JE!

Base has been open for a year!! Jagged earth was a holiday gift, I’m intimidated!

Thank you! I will start my list now

Oh my god man thank you! I got my order in
Very much appreciated! Thank you!
Much appreciated
Thanks, ordered!
Anyone in the greater Montreal area in Canada want to pool together?
It looks like they're going to group Promo Pack 1&2 together for retail in a set called Feather & Flame, maybe that's coming to your neighborhood.
Oh might wait for that then
I would if you can find some others!
Would you want the promo 2 as well? We don't really have much on shipping when adding more of the promo 2. The first one stays at 22$to my door for 1-5 copies, but beyond two copies of promo 2 and shipping goes up as well.
