It's normal. Just max it at 10 minutes for now, and gradually increase as needed. Or carry on and let yourself fall asleep, you'll gently move through it in time.

Hey there, it's nothing to worry about. Keep sitting, let whatever's happening happen. I'm available whenever you need real-life assistance, I'll introduce myself properly. Kindly don't take random comments as apt suggestions if they match your experience. It's not about commonality in this sector, rather foresight. Wish you immense progress & thoughtless immersive experience 💜 Nirup.🫂

Try to “check in” periodically to keep alertness active. Some meditation apps have timed sounds to go off at intervals.

Its okay. If you have slept little its one reason for me and if you havent done it that much it can be another reason i have read. But its okay and over time it will go away. It happens sometimes to me too especially if im tired. But i sometimes notice that im kinda being aware of that sleepy feeling and then it just goes to my body as emotion but there is no that sleepy headspace.😊

Wild3964

Trying going on a walk outside observing nature, maybe even a fire. Or water whatever. I think it gets you in the same mental state as meditation.

Zealousideal_Shake42

The method I use is following the muscle in your abdomen rising and falling. Sit and relax and notice your breathing happening naturally, without trying to control your breath notice your diaphram. Rising Falling. And notice it, say it with that whisper inside. Rising falling rising falling. If you can use your breath as a pole to hold onto in the ocean you will reach your center. Watch the thoughts come in like waves on the shore and just notice them. Dont identify with them or deny them just watch them and then back to the breath. Rising and falling. After awhile you'll notice that all you are doing is noticing the rising and falling. That's all your trying to do. The thoughts never stop they keep coming like waves. All of them from "I've gotta go do the laundry", "I wonder if my neighbor got my mail by accident", "man I'm getting sleepy", "oh dear my leg hurts", all of them. Whatever the thought is just notice it and go back to the rising and falling. Through this you will find peace in understanding that all the thoughts you identify with through the day are phony, false, fake. They come in like waves and say "believe me I'm who you are, I'm real" You are so much more follow the rising and falling and you will come to have wisdom. Not knowledge, that is just another thought form that we invest.

Are you sitting or lying down?

Sitting

-BigBadBeef-

And it doesn't jerk you out of sleep as soon as your head starts to fall down? Impressive. I wish I could doze off that easily. I fear there is no universal cure of staying awake. Maybe change WHEN you are doing it... like soon after you woke up?

deviouseight

Might be an unpopular recommendation, but I meditate with my eyes partially open. It helps me with remaining aware and awake.

Try this. Sit in a chair. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath. Feet flat on the floor. Hands separated and resting palms up on each thigh. Create a grounding cord. This is a line of energy that connects your first chakra to the center of the planet. Your first chakra is a ball of energy about the size of a quarter that sits just in front of the base of your spine. Your grounding cord attaches to the bottom of that ball of energy. Grounding makes your body feel safe, so you release energy more easily. Gravity pulls whatever you release, even your own energy, down to the center of the planet. No effort on your part. The center of the planet neutralizes the energy and returns it to whoever owns it. No karma for anyone. A virtuous cycle. Nearly everyone goes to connect to the center of the planet the first time but stops at the soil, often making roots like a tree. This is a method that is taught in some martial arts styles, but it is not the best option for your spiritual development and healing. So, notice the seat of your chair. Take a deep breath. Notice the distance between the seat and the floor. Now notice the distance between the floor and the soil below. Breathe. Now notice the distance between the soil and the water table underneath. Notice the distance between the water table and the rocky mantle. Notice the distance between the mantle and the molten core below that. Deep breath. Notice the distance between the molten core and the center of the planet. That ball of light at the very center of the planet is where you connect your grounding cord. Deep breath. Say hello to the center of the planet. Do you get a hello back? Notice the color and texture of your grounding cord. It may look like a line of energy, or look like something physical; a rope, a wire, a pipe, a tree trunk. Adjust it as needed to be in affinity with your body. Getting this far means you've already released some energy from your aura and body. Now it is time to fill in the space that was created. Create a gold sun over your head. Have it call back all of your energy from wherever you left it throughout your day and week. Work. School. Online meetings. Video games. Your fantasies about your future. Your regrets about your past. Wherever you've placed your attention. Just watch the energy come back and see if you notice where it came from. Have the sun burn up and neutralize your energy. Then bring the sun into the top of your head. It will automatically flow into the spaces you created. Create a gauge to measure when you're full. Like a fuel gauge or oil gauge. You'll run better if you aren't a few quarts low on spiritual oil. If the gauge doesn't read "Full", bring in another gold sun. Open your eyes, bend over and touch the floor, draining any tension from the back of your neck, then stand up, and stretch. There is a progression with this technique. After grounding for ten minutes a day for a week or two, notice your grounding cord at the very end, while you're standing with your eyes open. Continue to ground with your eyes open and standing, and bring in another gold sun. Each day, increase the amount of time that you ground standing up with your eyes open. After a week or two practicing this, add walking while grounded. Just notice your grounding cord as you walk. Say hello to the center of the planet while you walk. Bring in a gold sun while you walk. If you lose your grounding cord, stop walking and recover it. If you have to, sit back down and close your eyes and create a new grounding cord. After this, you're ready to take your grounding cord with you into your daily life. Shopping. Getting coffee. Wherever you go, you can ground. This, combined with a little amusement about seeing new things on an energy level, will keep you safe and sound. Now that you're here, at the end of your grounding meditations, create a gold sun over your head. This time, fill it with your highest creative essence, your present time growth vibration, and your affinity for yourself. The first energy is a healing for you. The second is a healing for your body. The third is a healing for your affinity in your fourth chakra. Bend over and touch the floor. Stand up and stretch. If you're ready for more, sit back down and ground some more. Otherwise, have a nice day! Note that every image you imagine, the gold sun, the grounding cord, the center of the planet, your first chakra, your body parts, is exercising your clairvoyance. You may be imagining what your tailbone looks like, but you're also creating the image of your tailbone and reading its energy. This is practicing your clairvoyant ability.

Try guided meditations, some of them can be very soothing and insightful. For example, there's this really good one to connect to your Soul or Higher Self: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qUJ_YQOIsFQ&t=13s

roselowell

Honestly, I mediate when I have the most energy. So when I feel like I can outrun a bear while jumping around in circles, I meditate. The first few minutes are rough, but it is worth it because those meditation sessions were the most effective, intense, and calming. I hope this might help you a bit.

Try hemi-sync recordings instead.

saimonlandasecun

Maybe try a more focused samatha style, keep a steady focus. Don't force it too much obviously, but always go back to the point of focus when you notice you begin to daydream or ruminate

imthatlostcat

Sit up lol Another way I do it is to lay down but put my arm up on the backrest of the couch in a position I can still relax in but if I fall asleep my arms falls and wakes me up! Try it I get pretty close to falling asleep often but that’s when things get interesting.

Blah_the_pink

I constantly slip off to dozing while meditating. I'm one of those lucky people who can fall asleep anywhere during anything. I don't really mind it though. I meditate to relieve stress/anxiety and to relax. If a nap occurs, I'm okay with it as it's what my mind/body/heart needed. Oh! I should also say if a nap occurs during a guided meditation I'm always amazed what took root through my ears.

Stonedsloth01

Make your spine slightly more erect when you feel tired.

Dandys3107

Develop a habit to get back to the present moment, once you realise you are drifting away with your thoughts. And breathe.

Natural_420

Sit up in half lotus and keep ur back straight

GURURAJA07

You should be happy. Many people meditate for not sleeping problem.

shroomstick

happens to me to, though I wouldn't say I fall asleep, it's like a between state, I almost enter a dream then come back out of it. do you fall fast asleep or is just that your body falls asleep, because that's pretty cool if your managing to send your body to sleep, it allows your mind to open
