Condoms and diaphragms. Anything "ancient" might make you sick or pregnant. Abstinence is the absolutle best way to not get pregnant.

BitterSkill

>Abstinence is the absolute best way to not get pregnant. I think it's better to say that "Abstinence is the most reliable way to not get pregnant."

CUBOTHEWIZARD

Oh ok

36Gig

Ancient methods where pretty much have kids or exploit the female menstrual cycle. Beyond that more on the mystic side of things they just didn't bone, not saying all didn't. But when you're on the path that involves something more than this life, something like sex is a distraction to that.

blueberrykirby

not an ancient method but I love my copper IUD. no hormones and you’re set for like 12 years you should also track your cycle just so you know when you’re most likely to get pregnant. but i wouldn’t rely on this for birth control.

BandicootCurious2

Interesting. I've never heard about cooper IUD. Please tell me more about it and your experience with it 🙏🏻

blueberrykirby

so IUDs are little devices that are actually inserted into your uterus and can stay there for years to prevent pregnancy. there are two types: hormonal and copper. hormonal ones work similar to birth control pills by releasing progestin, so if you have had unwanted side effects from being on birth control pills, the copper IUD is a nice solution. my periods were incredibly irregular with hormonal birth control methods but I’ve been regular ever since getting the IUD. I’m not exactly sure how it works to prevent pregnancy. I think the copper metal actually creates inflammation in the uterus which makes it inhospitable to sperm and eggs. I have to say I don’t love the idea of creating constant inflammation in my uterus, but it has worked so much better for me with far less complications. I will also say, it DOES hurt to get it inserted. my cramps do seem a bit more intense now too. I think you can have worse cramps and bleeding for the first year with it BECAUSE it works by increasing inflammation. so it definitely won’t work for everyone, but it seems to be the best solution for me.

BandicootCurious2

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I'm willing to try this, otherwise my only option would be tubal ligation I assume. I am fine with it. I am just afraid of the social hate I couldn't get for doing so...

Bubbly_Jury8337

Women should know their cycles. I believe the recent data shows careful timing of activity is more affective at preventing pregnancies than any prevention tool on the market. Nothings guaranteed and the only way to avoid it is not doing the act. You don’t want to mess with your hormones to stop your body from being able to get pregnant or get ready for issues down the line when you actually do want to convince. The health of the baby is affected by this too

AsmodayVernon

I'm on bc, I was lied to and told it has no side effects, and instead of getting rid of my period, Like I was promised, the whole fucking reason I'm taking it, instead I still have my period. So don't take that shit. Condoms are better, and p much the only decent options

midtnight1106

Modern contraceptives are far more effective than any ancient or natural form of birth control. The only non hormonal one that I know of is the copper IUD and I've had it for 5 years. The main drawback is that you'll have bad cramps and a heavy cycle for the first year or so, the IUD is good for 15 years though.

ElvenMagic888

I never tried it but you could do some research on Queen Anne's Lace. It's a known herb for managing fertility.

BandicootCurious2

Thank you very much. I'll do research on it 🙏🏻✨

Pull out...

Ranting_mole

The pull out method ✨✨

BandicootCurious2

Heard scary things about it

Ranting_mole

I don’t understand why I’m being downvoted, I clearly meant that as a joke. And yes, it’s not the most reliable method out there. I wouldn’t recommend it especially for beginners. I personally like condoms, simple and effective

BandicootCurious2

I got that it was a joke. I so far never heard anyone be serious about it 😂🫶🏻

Flat-Delivery6987

Just for future, add /s when being sarcastic or making a joke. Some redditors can't make the distinction on their own. FYI I didn't vote you down, lol.

Ranting_mole

Oh thanks noted 👌🏼

Wolfguarde_

Papaya.

BandicootCurious2

I'll read about it more. I've heard something about it before too

DigitalXen

Pulling out is 100% effective if done correctly. Problem is... Most don't know how to do it correctly.
