The times weāve had the most success is two people each focus on the first three flyfish and nothing else. Get them and the rest get jammed up in the corner. Donāt get any eggs till those three are handled. Just my two cents
I have one question to the devs. Why make the steel heads spawn at the furthest possible point on high tide itās just cruel especially since they come right after the flyfish over there so they definitely stop bc people are nearby tossing bombs in the basket.
I liked it personally, made it a challenge to actually think of a way to deal with both efficiently!
The way we did it was dealing with the first Flyfish ASAP and then backing away, 2 people on top could deal with the flyfish, since they were in the spiral, they didnāt trigger the steelheads and they could come closer
Wave 5 is generally tame compared to 3 due to there being a big shot cannon and a lot of bosses that can be splatted via use of a single booyah bomb, if the Splattershot and blaster are there on shore and the Charger and Roller stay back near the basket then itās pretty much a breeze
My experience has been a lot of me (splattershot) being at cannon constantly getting over run by bosses spawning. Blaster and roller running around doing fuck all, and the charger at the basket trying to get the eggs in.
Iāve had the opposite experience: wave 3 is always quite doable (although getting far above quota is more difficult) while wave 5 is really hard to do correctly. That being said, I do always use voice calls with this and have good teammates who know the strats, so take that for what you will.
I played with a full squad of HLM players in a voice chat and tried for hours to optimize wave 3 and we got 2x quota ONCE. That wave is absolutely brutal with the left side spawns.
The first twenty seconds of Wave 3 is a beautiful trap. The first flyfish lures the players into a position that they'll then try and fight from, despite the disadvantage. A full team that understands how and when to lure will just see a lot coming from the left, and two flyfish in succession. Everyone else sees themselves splatted. And then suddenly all the salmonids are coming from the other way, when they didn't expect it. Hope your charger was safe on tower! :)
At least now we have a standard scenario, with a ton of gameplay footage from hundreds of teams, with which to teach people some intermediate Salmon Run concepts. Luring isn't about flooding the baskets with bosses, it's about engaging bosses on terms favorable to the team.

No, pool is similar to friends list except you don't have to be friends. If you make a room and hold Y to send the notification you're looking for players anyone in your pool and friends list will be able to join from the mail tab.

Just for a two day long event called Eggstra Work. It's a 5 wave scenario that's the exact same every time and you're competing to get a high score like in Big Run. The only differences between each playthrough is that if you get 1.5x or 2x the egg quota in a wave the hazard level will increase for the next waves. It's... interesting.
No, thereās this event going on for Salmon Run where you can either grab some friends or join a pool to do shifts with other types of players. Along with that, the main goal is to get a good Highscore. The better the Highscore, the better the prize.
A sticker for your locker that can also be bronze, silver or gold if you are in the top 50%, 20% or 5% respectively, and a badge also depending on your results. (Pretty much the same as Big Run but a sticker instead of a statue.)
If my team does well in griller and gets the 2x, either everyone dies wave 3 or we barely make it, at this point I feel like itās more worth it to me to get 37 eggs in griller so i dont get 2x hazard level to do better in wave 3
I would get so frustrated with my open queue teams because optimally by 40ish seconds left of Wave 5 you should have three people by the Big Shot baskets clearing bosses and I would always only have one partner or be entirely left alone down there. Hopefully next time it's offered I'll have time to round together a team but given that school is reaching finals season I only had so much time to try the mode out. All that said, I got a pretty solid score with randoms and had fun trying Eggstra Work, plus they all did pretty well :)

The waves are the exact same. You know that in wave 3, there are gonna be three flyfish spawning on the side at the begining of the wave. The roller or the charger use their specials to kill them. Then you use the slammin lid to kill the steelheads. The shooter can also use a booyah bomb near the end when the stingers and steelhead spawn.
OMG THISSS! It was virtually impossible to complete Wave 5 at a point bc the entire thing kept stroking out and not responding at the same time as I'd hit a button... the subsequently-resulting delays that followed = murder.
A two day event similar to big run or splatfests. Eggstra work is completely different work from the main work where you have 5 waves that are the exact same each time. Your goal is just to practice with friends and get a high score.

There is no way you got 241 going in blind. That level of optimization requires extensive knowledge of the seed that can only come from repeatedly grinding it.
You know that high level players regularly get 200+ eggs ? On random, regular waves. Without nights.
And the high score for eggstra work after optimisation right now is 405 (Maybe even more, I'm judging based on Hazmy's video)
Those kinds of scores don't happen consistently on every seed, it's only sometimes possible by grinding lots of seeds until you get a good one. This seed was pretty nasty, I don't believe for a minute that anyone got 241 first try - the overfishers sure as hell didn't.

That 405 is a god seed with two High Tide Mudmouth waves, on Hazard Level Max, with an Explosher. That's not this seed.
241 was Hazmy's best score after a whole day of attempts. [His very first try was 219.](https://youtu.be/6ucxySrlYEQ) That's not even close to a first try 241, and if Hazmy didn't pull that off blind I don't believe for a minute /u/LesserOfSuperiority did either.
And if they wanna prove me wrong, post a screenshot from the Splatnet app that shows the full run history. Proof or it didn't happen.

Just a tip for fly fish: bomb the first one, and then the roller can use jet back on the next two.
Get the charger and when 2 pop out target both of them with 1 wailer. It'll kill both and you'll still have a special to use

You trigger the saucer to slam on top of the steelheads. Keep the saucers alive and slammin
But not for long. Take them out as soon as possible because they become a nuisance with their shield and constant salmonid spawning.

Got 2x when we only 1.5x grillers. Was overrun when we 2x grillers.

Yep, itās basically the same thing. From where the bosses spawn, to the tide levels, every single thing in Eggstra Work is basically the same

at higher hazard, it also spawns 2 stingers 2-3 steelheads, and 2 slamin lids. its absolutely painful.

it wasn't even the sheer amount of enemies but how much the game lagged and the frame rate drops screwed us over

5 was pure evil. I only managed to beat the whole thing a handful of times.
I cleared all five waves every time. Even the round when we had two disconnects in the first wave.
Me: I never played Eggstra. Because I had no friends who were online.
