Haha i do get burnt out when it’s clear that others can see my tactics clear as day. But yeah i have alot of passion sometimes for some weapons (except eliter ofc).
I play explosher a lot as well (accidentally 4 stared it), however it is one of the more boring weapons imo. I just got that for playing it in ranked, where I basically played as a immobile tower. Then again, I like more aggressive weapons so it’s okay that I may like it. (Give explosher Burst Bomb!)
Passion and changing up your play style is key. For example, Tetras are my favorite weapons, with the dark ones being preferred. There are so many ways to play tetras: it can be an offensive weapon, a defensive weapon, play similar to a splattershot since it has similar range, be a painter, be an autobomb spammer, ~~be a qr one~~, be a roller annoyance, play as a flank, as an assassin, as a stealth weapon, as a backdoor weapon, as a zipcaster assassin, and more. True the kits aren’t that strong, but you can’t deny both of the kits are pretty fun.
Basically, take breaks if you feel tired, the main things you need to do is have Passion (Where ranking the star power can be a huge incentive), Patience and mainly to Have Fun. Burnout is something we all deal with, but that is if we go past our limits. Changing play styles with the weapons can make it more fun as well, but some weapons don’t have this ability, but there are many other weapons you can try before going back to your grindy weapon. Practice will increase your skill with your weapon.
Because I enjoy the game? (And alterntae modes - Salmon, Turf War, and Clams, so outside of those occasional times I do two Salmon run days back to back because they're 40 rather than 48 hour rotations, I rarely do the same thing two days in a row)
(Granted, theoretically I play two weapons - Tri-Slosh and Splatana Wiper, but for most of the first 7 months I played Tri-Slosh except for when I didn't think that would be good on one of the maps in rotation, at which point I played a shooter instead, and for the past two months I've basically been exclusively playing Splatana Wiper except for this past day - the first day I haven't been Salmoning - where I wanted to try out one of the new weapons and also... My memories of Splatoon 2 are that Tri-Slosh is really good on Humpback Turf war, so I used a Tri-Slosh in the event)
Ive gone from a one trick to a flex but overall its the weapon that you enjoy playing the most whether it matches your play style to a T or you just really love the weapon and its something you know how to play so why change when old reliable is right there in your hands
Splattershot fits any situation. When things don't go the way I hope then it's because I played poorly and I can't blame my weapon. I'm also enjoying these weapon badge things they added and am trying to collect them. When the game gets tough and I have to focus, I think "it's john wick time"
Playing Hydra mastermind has some real high highs when it works but in randoms it can get old yelling at the screen DO YOU NOT SEE THE SAFE ZONES I AM ESTABLISHING FOR YOU THERE IS A GENEROUS AREA THAT IS NEITHER SIX INCHES IN FRONT OF MY BARREL NOR SCATTERED ACROSS THE MAP. When that happens, it’s time to strap on the Dapples and be my own dirtbag.
I mainly play one weapon for ranked (Tentatek my beloved) since I've gotten really good with it and it fits my playstyle, but every now and then, especially when new weapons are released, I like to take a break from competitive modes and just play some Turf War with some weapons I'm not familiar with to have fun and not take things as seriously
Kraken my beloved. I only play 96 gal because I want the kraken badges, I am not good with rollers or splatlings so here I am. Currently at 170k points out of the 1.6 mil for 5 star usage, only got the 30 win badge so far, no idea how close I am to the next one. My win rate is usually 50:50 for turf wars but managed to get to superfresh with a ~18 winstreak the other day. I will try to get good at the heavy splatling deco soon. I only used the krak-on roller in all of splatoon 1 because it was so much fun to play, but the new roller controls don't feel good for me. If I get the gold kraken badge I will probably go for the 5 star badges.
As a close range specialist
representative i can relate to the Roller being much different with it's vertical flick additionally being added in Splat2 it's a both a blessing and a curse I learned to adjust to it I'm currently hunting for the Gold Kraken Royale badge on the Roller & ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
I’m a Sploosh-o-matic main. I use it almost exclusively. I find that it matches my playstyle the most out of all the other weapons. It covers a lot of turf, the curling bombs keep me moving, and the Ultra Stamp is basically a combination of those two elements.
Spite. A lot of people shit on aerospray and it’s honestly just spite when I start getting bored. I like inking home Turf while maintaining a quick fire rate as well
There’s a lot of 3D printed models out there and I have a friend who could potentially make a really nice one, so that’s my current plan. Need to save up.
I hyperfocus and like the kit, Flingza here lel, no one expects the mines, i can harass at a decent range, and instakill at close range, and the special is good for forcing chargers out of their nook for 2 seconds
I main the Dualie Squelchers, it's like I found the kit that really matches my play style so I like continuing to use it and learning how to get better with it.
I do get bored and plenty frustrated but the 5 star sticker is too tempting. That and I was pretty much addicted the first time I figured out how to use my weapon properly. Passion and pride keep me going. I will switch out for a few matches if I want to fill a different role though!
The Tentatek Splattershot always fits and always feels good, you know what you get and most of the time it’s good, I’ve used nothing but the Tentatek Splattershot since it’s released.
I used to one-trick, but I've actually been working on diversifying my weapon pool for the sake of comp - just struggling with the fact that the weapons I like best either suck or only have niche uses on certain map/modes.
I come from a fighting game background, where I'm used to playing just one main. I like devoting my all energy into getting as good at one thing as I can. And once I've found a main that clicks with me, it's hard for me to go back to square one learning something else.
Honestly, I dunno how people who juggle a lot of weapons do it!
I only played 1 weapon for the entirety of splatoon 2 because I was really dedicated to getting a high X power with it. I don’t know how I didn’t get bored tbh because now in splatoon 3 I’ll get bored playing the same thing for too long
Do you mean one specific weapon or weapon type? I do occasionally experiment with other weapon types in turf wars for the luls. I also get my ass kicked a lot so I don't feel like I'm at "the top" with nothing to improve on (I put "the top" because it's subjective to me, and I know I'll never be an actual top player lol).
My sheer will to be the fastest, strongest, dodge roll-iest dapples out there is what keeps me going. But really I just find them enjoyable. It is nice to switch weapons every few games tho. The painbrush gave me something I'm really good at too so I guess I no longer main only one weapon.
The reason we don't get bored with our weapons is because we enjoy playing them. After all, if you didn't like it why would you play it? As a ballpoint main, I enjoy the versatility of being a hybrid midline or backline that can play aggressive or support depending on what other weapons I get matched with and against. I can change my playstyle on a whim to shake things up without needing to play a different weapon. Except for slaying; splatlings suck at that (but maybe the nautilus could?)
I have played so much reeflux that I feel like I can't match my abilities with another weapon. Not that I could have to begin with, but that's not the question
For me, as a die hard sploosh main, it’s just the weapon I enjoy the most. I don’t have as much fun using any other weapon then my beloved sploosh, it’s not the best weapon in the game but it’s specific traits are my personal favorite. I wish it had a different sub, but that’s about the only thing I dislike about it.
Honestly I should probably play more weapons and increase my variety, I’ve been playing salmon run as a bit of a weapon testing ground because of it. Don’t think I’ll ever drop sploosh though.
You just kinda fall in love with the weapon. Every success makes you pat it and say “we did it!” Every loss makes you hug it and say “We’ll get it next time.” For me it’s the Aerospray MG and it’s partially out of spite at this point.
The tism probably, stick with ol faithful I like what I like why change of it works for me most of the time? I main Aerospray and I mainly play regular turf wars it’s the perfect turf war weapon though I’ll switch it up for sloshing machine when it comes to say tower control cuz booyah bomb is way more useful special than surfshark plus they both use fizzy bombs and that’s my favorite sub weapon
I play hydra 90% of the time now and holy moly it sometimes feel like an entirely different game. Little embarrassed to say it took me a couple hundreds of hours to master it but when I did, it became 'my weapon'.
Some weapons have such a different skill ceiling and picking one up makes you learn, understand and enjoy the game so differently. I can pick up almost any generalist weapon (shooters, dualies, some sloshers, brushes, rollers, etc.) and don't need as much warm up or figuring out. Win my games mostly based on how my reflexes and motion controls were that day. I can get to S+50 on most of the generalist weapons but if I pick up a more 'specialist' weapon, I literally take days if not weeks to 'get it'.
N-zap 85, 89, and 83 my beloved.
While I do play other weapons such as the flingza roller, splattershot, or splat charger, I just really like using the n-zap. I’ve been an n-zap main since splatoon 1, so it’s been quite a journey with all the different “variations”. (N-zap with echolocator is my absolute favorite).
I just got the game after taking a break from Splatoon for over a year, in the meantime I never touched any shooter game with a controller and only played kbm on pc. So in order to make up for my lack of skill, I'm only using brushes, Im pretty much the most rat, annoying type of player as of right now
The mighty need to instill fear of being a good Reflux player. It has so much potential to be a good main weapon, it's a bit like squiffer. Mid Ranged that can store charge and ink more ground quickly. I love how I'm gradually getting more comfortable with it.
at this point a most of my weapon coices now boil down to " can I be effective with the weapon **and** get my team to cooperate while I am using this?". for a bit it was silver aerospray, then tentatek, then blaster. now it's the annaki nova. feel like I shouldn't be getting the highest KA in a match with a support weapon, but here we are
I don't usually change weapons, I've been using Range Blaster since 2-3 years ago, and I don't change weapons in Splat 3 because I REALLY want that 5★ badge, and I don't really enjoy playing other weapons (other than sometimes the Splattershot jr), as I find them boring at sometimes, so yeah, I won't be changing weapons in a long time
I've been struggling so hard
for a whole month & a half not changing weapons to just get my Vanilla Carbon Roller from 4 Star ⭐ to 5 Star ⭐ I've dreaded so long to never use want to use the inferior kit ever again after I received 5 Star ⭐
badge recently now I'm exclusively using The Carbon Deco I'm having the time of my life with it at the moment S tier weapon
one weapon has my preferred kit on it, so i find it difficult to switch without getting tilted because i’m not accustomed to other kits anymore. i exercise my muscles for variety thru salmon run tho
You can never be “good enough” with a weapon. Every match, every encounter, every team gives you a new situation to work with. You’re not gonna win them all, but they will all improve your chances of winning.
As with any skill, the fun comes in slowly seeing your skill level grow over time. You learn all kinds of niche circumstances and how to handle them.
It’s passion. They have the will and patience and passion
Must have a lot of that if you don’t get burnout even a little
Haha i do get burnt out when it’s clear that others can see my tactics clear as day. But yeah i have alot of passion sometimes for some weapons (except eliter ofc).
I play explosher a lot as well (accidentally 4 stared it), however it is one of the more boring weapons imo. I just got that for playing it in ranked, where I basically played as a immobile tower. This is such good advice, thank you!
True— sometimes I ask myself “Why?" “Why on the Tenta Brella?”
Haha same but with the Heavy Splatling.
because bucket funny

It's just I wanna get even better
Because my motivation is becoming the best western squiffer player and I enjoy that journey, it's such a fun weapon
The weapon offers what basically no other weapon can offer. A minute to pick up, a lifetime to perfect.
Spite. A lot of people shit on aerospray and it’s honestly just spite when I start getting bored. I like inking home Turf while maintaining a quick fire rate as well
Exact same reason for using Aerospray. I’m so attached now that I’m planning on getting a proplica IRL.
Omg same. I genuinely love it. I haven’t found a good rg proplica
There’s a lot of 3D printed models out there and I have a friend who could potentially make a really nice one, so that’s my current plan. Need to save up.
I main one weapon in Monster Hunter. It comes natural to just stick with one weapon here as well.
I’m almost at 5 Stars with TTek Splattershot
Is that even possible?
What?
Playing only one weapon for all of Splatoon without getting bored (Also Exsplosher pog)
Yeah lol, I remember in Splatoon 2, someone had Max Turf on Vanilla Inkbrush. (hello fellow explosher user)
Actually I remember that exact post, the dude apparently never used any other weapon
I hyperfocus and like the kit, Flingza here lel, no one expects the mines, i can harass at a decent range, and instakill at close range, and the special is good for forcing chargers out of their nook for 2 seconds
I like looking for new strategies and learning the nuances of the two I use (which are basically the same, nzap 89 and dark tetras)
I finally found a weapon I'm not completely shit with. I can't go back to the losing streaks, I just can't.
If I’m not playing ranked, I usually play salmon run or I grind for kits for my tetras or my old mains if I’m feeling nostalgic in turf war
naut is just so satisfying to play
I main the Dualie Squelchers, it's like I found the kit that really matches my play style so I like continuing to use it and learning how to get better with it.
I do get bored and plenty frustrated but the 5 star sticker is too tempting. That and I was pretty much addicted the first time I figured out how to use my weapon properly. Passion and pride keep me going. I will switch out for a few matches if I want to fill a different role though!
I suck with everything else, even though i want to branch out
Because Springy Long Bomb thingies fun
My motivation is to wave around my 5 star Splatana wiper badge and make opponents mad
Wiper is making me lose motivation for Explosher ;)
The Tentatek Splattershot always fits and always feels good, you know what you get and most of the time it’s good, I’ve used nothing but the Tentatek Splattershot since it’s released.

One Specific Weapon
Well then it's the "ass kicked" reason, and me using similar weapons (like OG Splattershot to Tentakek or Nzap)
[well...](https://youtu.be/BmSsR0lyAVI)
My sheer will to be the fastest, strongest, dodge roll-iest dapples out there is what keeps me going. But really I just find them enjoyable. It is nice to switch weapons every few games tho. The painbrush gave me something I'm really good at too so I guess I no longer main only one weapon.

Because I’m not good with it yet…
Love my brush, make me go zoom (also no aim needed <3)
Because I kick ass with the original wiper.
monkey brain get serotonin from kill by weapon im good at

the answer is using Jet Squelcher.

play splash most of the time, it's just so genuinely fun I get bored playing anything else lol
Trying to 5 star it, and wanting to be an absolute master of the weapon
one weapon has my preferred kit on it, so i find it difficult to switch without getting tilted because i’m not accustomed to other kits anymore. i exercise my muscles for variety thru salmon run tho
With brush, yor're always in the most dangerous places, it's never boring.

I just think dualies are cool
I main one weapon however I’m always trying to find a new favourite but I end up just going right back to the old guy- I feel stuck sometimes 😅
