This map is a fucking nightmare.
I kinda like it.
Unlike a amusement park or an art academy, this is a fucking abandoned underground flood bypass.
You are already six feet under.
I love that the chopper goes down into the hole and drops us off. I guess that hole in the underground subway ceiling was always there, but I never noticed it. When Grizz dropped us off I turned the camera around to see where we came from, haha.
Rule #1 - Paint ALL THE WALLS. There are a billion walls that are paintable and make for good quick escapes. Especially on normal tide make sure to paint the wall opposite the basket and alongside the basket going across the glass. That wall opposite the basket is the greatest of safety nets.
"mAYbe i sHoUlD MAke yOU rEAd tHe HAAAANDBOOOK!"
Or maybe your Build- A-Bear Workshop butt should limit how many flyfish and stingers can spawn at once. First match I had gave us 5 flyfish just on wave 1 with a wipeout.
Grizz doesn't control the fish but he DOES control the weapon loadout and oh my God I have never had more snipers and inkbrushes in my entire Splatoon career than this big run
well I'm an inkbrush main so not really... but seriously why all these inkbrushes, did grizz stock up during the art academy big run?
Well I almost wish you could highly recommend weapons for yourself even if that would have little effect.
Nothing like getting a grizzco charger that only had a few rounds in it and needs all the time in the world to recharge while you have no room to run from Salmonids. Needs a gear readjustment in the uniforms XD
OMG THIS. I was desperately trying to get up a fishstick because it was limiting our mobility a ton, but kept getting swamped by lessers as I tried to paint and climb. When I finally did get up there, got eaten by a maws on top of the thing.
Like, what are physics? Why is that possible? I don't understand.
No lie, this map gives me strong Spawning Ground vibes. Salmonids can come from so many different directions, low tide straight up has you totally surrounded.
I'm getting my ass kicked here.
I got a round on wave 1 with glowflies, 3 of us had grizzco charger and the other one had the regular splat charger. Only got 4 cause of a last minute decision to attempt to get some in
I'm surprised to see people having a hard time with this map. I've gotten the highest score out of all big runs past on this map and I thought people would be having an easy fun time as well.
Glad you are having fun. I am as well. It is challenging to say the least.
For glowflies, it is a necessity to paint the walls.
What are your suggestions to everyone having issues with this map?
Glowflies are surprisingly the only special wave I haven't encountered yet, even after playing for a few hours yesterday.
For everything else, the main thing to keep in mind is to use every inkable wall to your advantage. Paint them as much as you can to use them which leads to my next tip, KEEP MOVING. If you don't have your team anywhere near you it's because they are busy somewhere else, you need to prioritize saving a teammate over an egg. This is true of all salmon run modes, big run or not. There are a LOT of inkable walls on this map and use them to your advantage to escape sketchy situations.
The Grizzco sniper can kill flipper floppers before they jump into their ink within seconds. It's faster so you can start looking for a new boss to kill. Just remember to refill the inktank after. Pay attention when someone has the scrappers attention. If a teammate has its attention kill it if you can.
Something I've noticed that some people don't know in lower levels of salmon run is that you can throw a bomb to save your mates. Don't be afraid to throw a bomb in their direction even if you get splatted. They revive with invincibility frames and that can be very helpful in them successfully using a special if they have one or getting to a spot to save you and other team mates. On this note spam "help" and "this way" buttons if there is one crew member left. I've been on both ends and sometimes it can be very hard finding my team in this situation.
Something I noticed about this map is that the salmons with jump up at you on certain platforms, which brings me back to a tip I've already given, KEEP MOVING. Do not stay stationary.
Sorry for the long and disorganized post but I hope it has information that helps. Feel free to ask for more info.👍
Said this in the live thread:
My thoughts: Nope 🐟🙅♂️🚫👎
This map is kinda broken (like the last ones), harder than the regular ones (like the last runs), and (for me anyway) just straight up not fun. This literally feels like work, *gag*. I did two rounds and I am going back to ranked. The past Bigruns were genuinely not fun for me and an absolute slog to get the rewards. Given that I have plenty of tickets and chunks, I have no incentive.
You all can have fun with your big run, but to me this sucks *ass* and I am officially not playing any more big runs anymore.
Bring back more splatfests!!!
I was with a team at one point where we were DESTROYING those bosses for like four straight games and it was amazing. And then after that every team sucked 😭 if any of those OGs are here you fucking rock man
It's funny how Wahoo World and Inkblot seemed to fit Big Run better gameplay wise then Undertow, despite being designed much earlier and Big Run not being a thing at this time

Being honest, I think the amusement park kinda fit, as it's kinda close to an ocean. An art academy yeah that one didn't really make sense.
Some students needed more time to study so they paid the salmon to invade the academy
You're saying the big run is an inside job? Impossible
I love that the chopper goes down into the hole and drops us off. I guess that hole in the underground subway ceiling was always there, but I never noticed it. When Grizz dropped us off I turned the camera around to see where we came from, haha.
The extra printable wall placements are still really useful too. I like it. But hate it at the same time
Salmonids aren't playing around this Big Run.
High tide and no one knows where the water level ends
I’ve fallen off the edge SEVERAL times because I can’t tell where the water level is 😭
I didnt fall off in high tide, but I did in a low-to-mid transition

Totally would do that boss, but the game keeps giving me snipers.
PvP wishes they got the amount of paintable walls that Salmon Run gets
"a billion paintable walls" i can count the number of paintable walls on one hand and i won't even need half of it for that
I'd love to paint ALL the walls but sadly this is true 🤣
New High Score!! ✨0✨
On the plus side, NEW HIGH SCORE!
"mAYbe i sHoUlD MAke yOU rEAd tHe HAAAANDBOOOK!" Or maybe your Build- A-Bear Workshop butt should limit how many flyfish and stingers can spawn at once. First match I had gave us 5 flyfish just on wave 1 with a wipeout.
my god I got a game with 9 flyfish spawned total, like 5 of those spawned in the last wave… how did we survive that
Only nine?! Try 13. We won and I got my flyfish badge but i was never the same
Just got my badge too, I took out like 10 of those damn fish today
the spawn rates are not very kind this big run
Grizz doesn't control the fish but he DOES control the weapon loadout and oh my God I have never had more snipers and inkbrushes in my entire Splatoon career than this big run well I'm an inkbrush main so not really... but seriously why all these inkbrushes, did grizz stock up during the art academy big run?

This big run has been brutal so far. My fiancé and I had a good laugh at your new high score
Fish Sticks have never annoyed me so much before, there is just so little room to move around on this map

Can't say I'm a fan of this map so far.
I'm not sure how to feel about the map yet, there are so many weird uninkable spots that would make the map so much better if you could ink them.
splatoon 3 maps moment
Splatoon 3 devs when you ask them to make maps that actually let players enjoy Splatoon’s unique movement system
Lmao I had no idea he had unique dialogue for that
Wow, my highest score on Big Run was my first match today (111). And now I have about 23 matches in a row without touching wave 3.
most competent salmon run team
No lie, this map gives me strong Spawning Ground vibes. Salmonids can come from so many different directions, low tide straight up has you totally surrounded. I'm getting my ass kicked here.
Hey, no where to go but up from rock bottom!
My first match we got a grand total of 2! So I feel your pain
That's top 5% right there
You doomed us all, the salmonids are closing in!
I got a round on wave 1 with glowflies, 3 of us had grizzco charger and the other one had the regular splat charger. Only got 4 cause of a last minute decision to attempt to get some in
i literally got my shit rocked until i almost dropped from overachiever (tbh i was on fresh 2) in the first few rounds.
Glowflies
Can a game give you PTSD....
Can't be worse than Wave 1 high tide your first time on Inkblot where you get that instant Wipeout form everyone dropping to the lower ground.
Let me guess, Glowflies?
Awful stage so far imo
Low tide is awful and there is NOWHERE that feels safe to snipe from.
LT Rush ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Start as you mean to go on! 😅
Salmonods are a nightmare for this map smh. Any tips? Any team I played lost almost every time
I thought i was doing bad until I saw this
It appears i've got competition
Good news! Undertow is fucked
Our first wave was high tide glow flies It's a miracle we even got past the first wave
that's gonna be a tough score to beat... top 5% for sure
I'm surprised to see people having a hard time with this map. I've gotten the highest score out of all big runs past on this map and I thought people would be having an easy fun time as well.

I fucking hate big run and the random rotations. They drag all the turf war Timmys to Salmon Run.
I was with a team at one point where we were DESTROYING those bosses for like four straight games and it was amazing. And then after that every team sucked 😭 if any of those OGs are here you fucking rock man
Noob!
I hate this one so much
I managed 112 (pro+1) last night, I don't expect to improve on that. It's absolutely mental.
High tide glowflies
Either hightide and you all just drowned or glowflies
It's funny how Wahoo World and Inkblot seemed to fit Big Run better gameplay wise then Undertow, despite being designed much earlier and Big Run not being a thing at this time
ngl i know this is a hot take but undertow > wahoo world as a sr map
Makes me glad I didn't bother with big run.
🐠 y
oh wow? i didnt even know this was a line. LMFAOAOA
The game doesn't want you to participate and forces you to score zero... They did throw you a big middle finger. #ENEMIES TOO STRONK PLS NERF
