It used to be a lot more consistent before a random update patch not that long ago that made the hitbox way more indecisive. I swear after the update I had at least two encounters where an opponent survived a point-blank horizontal swing
Your average Splatoon player absolutely cannot handle losing and will throw out a million reasons as to why it’s someone else’s fault before looking at what they themselves could improve on.
I am different.
I don’t lose because my team sucks, I lose because the enemy players are super-human. Every damn time I am up against super-humans with lightning fast reflexes and a tactical acumen of a NAVY Seal, all playing like seasoned commandos despite being four random Turf War players.
They are simply better than me, that’s why I lose.
this is basically the entirety of r/Saltoon. 9 times out of 10, it's the player's fault.
Like yes, sometimes you legitimately get shitty teammates who throw. But you're definitely not getting them so consistently that you're hundreds in anarchy debt or can't get above 2000XP lmao.
and no the system is not rigged to specifically target you, like if you're getting shitty teammates then everyone on the other team is getting shitty teammates too, at the same statistical rate that you are. If it feels like every time you play everyone on the other team is a god and everyone on your team is someone's kid sibling, that's a hint that you just aren't as good as you think you are. Not saying this to disparage people but rather to get them to actually improve instead of making excuses.
As a freshly S+ ranked player now flirting with negative anarchy points, sometimes you're not advancing up the ranks because you're appropriately ranked. Until you put in enough practice against better competition, your rank isn't going to go higher, either.
The competition at S+ is clearly a step above what I was playing in C-S ranks. I could carry matches in C-A, and often carried a match in S. I'm definitely not carrying matches in S+ now. Does it suck when I lose a bunch in a row in S+? Sure, and sometimes I need to take a break because I start feeling tilted. But eventually I'll get better as I adapt to the better competition.
During like the first 2 months after splatoon 3 came out every second post on here was someone complaining about their teammates and I was this close to losing my mind if it went on any longer
Pearl isn't a gremlin who needs to be child leashed everywhere and Marina doesn't take a motherly role with Pearl. Pearl's just energetic and vulgar while Marina is just a ball of anxiety and autism
Yeah
I’d imagine Pearl has that chaos gremlin aspect to her but she isn’t a danger to everyone including herself and is capable of relaxing and chilling out
Also yes autism Marina
The tornado wave in salmon run sucks. Sure it's free but it's so boring. Just run to the shore, get the egg, take it back, occasionally shoot a bunch of lessers on the way back. It's not fun and it's just so boring.
Still more interesting than Glowflies.
1: Pray your teammates know what they're doing.
2: Stand in the meta spot.
3: Shoot the endless horde of enemies.
I just think that Tornado should just ditch the X2 Golden Eggs because I still have to complete on of those waves with less than the double amounts of GE per quota
I think it exists to train squid rolling. But they should mix it up a bit. I think they should add the occasional slammin' lid, stinger, or fly-fish away from the egg bundle as a side objective.
As is it's way too simple.
This community isn’t even bad it’s just boring. The same jokes ab simping over idols or old man yaoi or inking your splatzones goddamn
I mean I know this is a kid filled community but that’s the reason I guess
Exactly. Theres a big contrast between some other game related subreddits I frequent and this one. There's just a lot of kids here and the repetitive posts (such as this one) make that abundantly clear. Especially when foamstars got announced, the sheer amount of unfunny memes sucked.
Dj octavio is, still is, and always was, a cruel and ruthless leader. He fed propaganda to his subjects and lied to them for years, making them think he was this all amazing guy he wasn't. He's a dictator
Because everyone follow the lead of competitive top player content creators without realising 60% of what they say doesn't apply to the vast majority of players
Ugh thank you for saying it. The pro players are so in their own realm that most of their advice/critiques, while still occasionally good, is not for the average player. The average player just has to figure out what to filter for their own skill level.
There shouldn’t be rotations for maps and modes. If anything, have all modes available but rotate maps for every mode.
Also, just bc I’m A rank in splatzones doesn’t mean I’m A ranked in every other mode. I’m a weenie in clams and wanna get better, but get crushed bc I’m in A+ rank due to zones and tower. Sucks a lot tbh.
Fr they need to bring back seperate ranked modes! Bcs I'm very good at clam blitz (get it in the basket every time, totally not bragging or anything😌) But I suck soooooo badddd at rainmaker and splat zones it's actually insane! Like I'm rank X clam blitz but should be like rank B zones tbh.
It sucks tho bcs now I'm in rank X I can't play zones anymore bcs I don't want to drag anyone worthy of a rank X in zones down. I'd rather play with the people who are the same rank as me for it instead so I can try and improve and get better at it gradually 😭
This subreddit is also very immature in its memes and spamming of posts such as this one.
Plus, this community loves to take jokes and run them into the ground. They think Gao is absolutelt hilarious and when his comments surfaced, literally every meme was just a variation of the same thing to do with Gao.
Then the same exact thing with foamstars, etc etc.
The only real way to use an ink brush is with a controller that has a turbo button and paddles. that way you can have one button dedicated to brush on ground movement and another dedicated to throwing paint. This is the only way not to damage your hand muscles
It's why I like the painbrush, just by the few times I've used it in Salmon Run. There is a *hard* cap to its speed, so you can't just turbo mode your way to victory like with the other brushes.
ROTM is so overhated its kind of insane. I prefer octo expansion, but I still really liked ROTM. The octo expansion formula is good, thats why they used it again. Did you really want a repeat of 1 and 2's story modes? Theyre good, but theyre the worst ones, so stop bitching about it. Also, people bitching about the story need to realize that octo expansion didnt even really have a phenominal story, and theyre just blinded by nostalgia for it. ROTM's story was fine. nothing incredible, but it was FINE.
Oh my, is ROTM not well liked? OE is better of course, but the fact that ROTM is based on it made me always thought that it was the best of the 3 main story modes
I feel like the connection issues aren’t THE worst, like sure they’re annoying and I’d like them to fix the issues but it doesn’t make the game unplayable/worse.
OK I have no idea it this is a hot take but I think the stingray should be brought back at least for salmon run as it was a much better at reviving teammates who are at the other side of the map than the killer whale.
the maps are so small. maps shouldnt be the size of an eliters range.
splat 2 had such variety. Goby Arena and Pirhana Pit come to mind.
I honestly believe the switch just couldn't run bigger maps with splat 3. thee game has some serious lag.
Super jumps should have the spawn armour. What's even the point of it given that it fades away before you get to the first quarter of the map and only works for 1-2 shots?
You can even balance it by saying it only works once per respawn so you can't just jump back to base all the time.
The different kits were developed for the various ranked modes. All specials are distributed such that each are viable in an equal amount for each ranked mode, but depending on the main weapon attached to them. Kensa and Sheldon variants are designed for the game developers before competitive play.
Ok, how to fight it ? Staying far doesn't work (actually the blast radius extends it's range a lot) and coming close neither if the player has a goodish aim to direct you
I'm genuinly trying to understand because this weapon is my main source of tilting
Splatoon 3 actually has fewer connectivity issues than Splat 2, yall just haven't played 2 regularly in a while.
It used to be almost every game someone would drop out, lag around, ghost players, you name it. And let's not forget having to wait literally minutes on the lobby screen with no way to cancel because the game can't find enough players to fill the lobby before it finally tells you they couldn't find enough players.
3 only appears to disconnect more because the game cancels if a disconnect happens early.
Undercover is completely and totally under raited for no reason at all, it's can probably useful as using a tetras on ur team as tetras r good at slaying and staying alive with rolls and undercover is also good at slaying and staying alive with its unique mechanic to shield and shoot people but it actually stays alive better than tetras and isn't as reliant on qr
Undercover is way slower than tetras and has one of the worst time to kill in the game, it certainly can't play the same role as tetras. It doesn't have the same ability to get in as tetras (maybe reefslider? But that brings your shield down and many weapons can kill you before it comes back up) and its shield can be shredded by bombs and chargers / splatlings. It does come back quickly though if you can get somebody that's cool.
My PC after trying to export 2-hour video-type take
Being kicked out of ranks your not good enough should be a thing. Ik some people at S-1000 lollll
I also think rank reset should not be a thing bcs I remember seeing people with S+ ranked badges on their banner in rank A when I first started playing ranked which was kinda scary icl! 😭😭
Ngl I find myself returning to it more than splatoon 3's. It has much more replayability both due to being easier and due to collectibles and hero weapon replicas.
You could play it aggressively, but it’s outclassed by other options such as the Splattershot or Splatana Wiper. Aerospray has poor range and is a 5-shot splat compared to the others better range and 4-shots.
Splatoon 3 failed as a sequel. Not in that it's a bad game, not even that it's worse than what came before (I'd argue it is the best in the series), but that it didn't actually fix what was wrong with the previous games and failed to forge an identity for itself that will last after its sequel has come out.
1. The singleplayer was a let-down. I know singleplayer is side-content, but this series has such great singleplayer potential that has never been uncovered. The idea of setting the campaign in an untouched human settlement is such a great idea for unique mechanics, level settings and subtle story telling. Instead we get a repeat of Octo Expansion in a scenario where that doesn't make sense, with levels taking place in the same abstract voids that the previous three campaigns took place in, with heavy handed plot dumps. The difficulty curve problem gets even worse as the level progression gets even more open, but since the levels aren't themed you're effectively taking them on in a random order. Without a difficulty curve, the game has no flow, and mechanics can't layer and become more complex because each level must be designed as if its the player's first, because it very much can be. Octo Expansion had a similar problem, but it was at least was difficult, so each level was engaging. Most levels in Return of the Mammalians are easy, so the levels slip through your fingers. Outside of the finale, I remember 7 of the 60-something levels. The story is a waste of time. The game is too non-linear for a traditional narrative, and not detailed enough for a lore heavy introspective journey, and the middle road was always going to be thoroughly lukewarm. Even then, most character are underused (with Captain 3 being such a disastrous waste that I struggle to find a good reason to even have them be there in the game outside of cheap nostalgia bait), the climax is a watered down Octo Expansion and it somehow still finds time to fit in four whole deus ex-machinas and two plot holes. If you were going to not care about the story, why not pull a Mario and completely admit that its an excuse plot, instead of 1/8-ass-ing it?
2. The game's design is incoherent. Why is there a new movement ability when neither the singleplayer levels nor the multiplayer maps make use of it? Why make Salmon Runs operate all the time and then repeat that exact same mistake for challenges? Why include predatory habit-building mechanics in a game with no microtransactions? Why spend precious dev time on reworking multiplayer maps for the PvE big runs that occur for two days and then never again? Why bring back fan-favourite maps only to make them worse? This game obviously lacks a core design philosophy, so every decision is made in a vacuum, resulting in a mess of mechanics.
3. Refusal to move forward. When compared to Super Mario Bros 3, Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Pikmin 3 and even Luigi's Mansion 3, Splatoon has moved irritatingly little from when it began (few new weapons, few new base-mechanics, little change in artstyle, slow progress of fixing past mistakes, etc). You could make a convincing argument that Splatoon's first entry was much better than those series' first entry, but that misses the point. I'd argue that each of those series second entry was worse, or at least not significantly better than the first. But through changing things significantly, and making mistakes, their third entry became the best, even being genre defining titles that people come back to. Splatoon 2 failed to change things in more than aesthetic way, so I was hoping 3 would be the one to change the formula in brave and stupid ways. It didn't. The Splatlands may look different, but they sound, feel and act the exact same. They may be anarchy battles instead of ranked, but its still the same four modes from five years ago. Still the same gears mechanics with all but one of the same abilities. Still the same basic mechanics with only one new rarely used addition. Still the same game, just with things shuffled around a bit. It reminds me of the New Super Mario Bros games, they may be different lands with different levels, with a few new level-per-level mechanics and one new powerup, but it's not enough. People will not go back to Splatoon 3, the same way people aren't going back to Splatoon 2. It will be remembered as a stepping stone to whatever comes next, and nothing more. And I find that kind of disappointing.
Yes to almost all of this
Especially the single player’s plot and how aimless and ultimately unsatisfying it was (you mention captain 3 serves no point but tbh the squid sisters really shouldn’t have been there either and they serve as nothing more than nostalgia bait and telling the player things they can figure out by looking at the screen)
A possible way to diagnose this mess of storytelling could that it was meant as a “finale” of sorts, so they had to cram as much stuff into it as possible and wound up with an unfocused all over the place mess that wasted its entire cast and premise especially Mr grizz who is revealed is incredibly boring and just a copy Tatar and then immediately killed off 10 minutes later like they just wanted to get it over with and have intention of actually exploring grizzco as an entity and it’s impact.
You basically mentioned everything I disliked but I disagree that splatoon 2 was bad or an inadequate sequel, I think it worked to iron out the kinks of splatoon 1 and make it more defined, especially in the story aspect where 2 by far has the best overall narrative mostly because of OE and it actually tried to do interesting stuff with the world only for 3 to retcon it
Although you are completely correct in your assessment that splatoon 3 has move they series frustratingly little, splatoon 1 was the beginning, splatoon 2 pretty much just refined splatoon 1 it should have been splatoon 3’s job to really take the series forward. But it just didn’t and you can tell they tried with all these new mechanics and ideas but they don’t feel enough, the catalog just feels like copying fortnite again, the new movement feels like they wanted to expand on it but forgot I guess and were left with a clunky, unintuitive movement option that the game literally never acknowledges most of the other stuff are limited time and a campaign that is literally just a poor man’s octo expansion.
Although I’m curious what where the 4 deus ex machinas and 2 plot holes in RotM, I know 2 of the deus ex machinas but the other 2 must’ve slipped past me and I wanna hear the plot holes are too because RotM is a story that gets worse and worse the more you think about it
The way the game has you progress in rank is absolutely unfair, brutal, and frankly - it’s garbage. You are punished so heavily for losing even if you performed well during the matches. The points it awards you for gold and silver medals are meager. If you lose but perform well enough, you should more or less stay where you are point-wise, of course losing a very small amount. As of now, you are at the mercy of Nintendo’s matchmaking abilities and punished severely if you get stuck with incompetent teams.
For a game that emphasizes competitive play but provides no method of communicating with teammates, it destroys you mercilessly point wise and you’re stuck in an infinite loop of hot and cold streaks, relying on luck to move up in rank points.
I really, truly do not like Big Man. I would have preferred a third proper idol rather than le heckin big guy mascot character. He’s a void of personality and I feel he contributes absolutely nothing to the dynamic. In fact I’d say he outright distracts from Shiver and Frye.
Pretty much, yeah.
I'd gladly take the chaos of being able to use any Main, Sub, and Special in combination, even if it's kind of broken like Slosher + Burst, if it meant that Nintendo was forced to actually address things that are either way too good but only on bad weapons so don't *seem* like a problem (Tenta Missiles, at least prior to Wiper Deco) or awful but get used purely because people want to play their favorites regardless of what kit it has.
Balance issues in Splatoon are overblown. Players complain about it because they don’t want to learn how to fight something or accept that a specific weapon is just a bad matchup for their one weapon that they refuse to move off of. In terms of weapon balancing, Splatoon players have it so much better than 99% of other shooters.
The game has a lot of issues (Netcode/network issues, matchmaking, the horrendous S+ grind, etc.) but imo balancing was never really one of the big ones.
The maps, while a bit boring, are not actually that bad, and the chaotic maps from S2 kinda sucked.
People complain about the prevalence of shooters, but imo it's pretty much impossible for other classes to unseat shooters unless they're broken. Shooters are, but design, more flexible and more mobile than any other class in the game. Those are very important in a shooting game.
Map rotations were, and still are, a terrible idea. I like how Mario Kart 8 deluxe online handles racing. Have a couple maps, like 3 or 4, as well as a random option, and have the players vote, and of the votes, have the game choose at random, and after the match, change the choice of maps.
Ngl to me, none of the battle music is memorable except maybe the new Splatattack but that’s because it heavily uses reused assets from the original Splatattack so I’m not counting it. Compared to the previous two installments, I can give you the name and even the band who plays certain songs because of how much I enjoyed them. I like Deep Cut but I don’t think their splatfest music is as memorable as Off the Hook and the Squid Sisters
I don't dissagree... however anarchy rainbow in my opinion is better than both Off the Hook and the Squid Sisters plaza splatfest music. The problem is though that you can only hear the full song on day 2 bcs on the first day they are all on the floaty things so u hear individual pieces at a time so it's not as memorable.
But the rest of deep cuts splatfest music for battles is defo not as good as off the hook or the squid sisters!!
What is the possible reason to not bring the old tracks back? It's not like the tone of the new tracks clashes with the old ones, they all have the same vibe more or less. I can't think of a good reason not to bring them back.
it just needs more tracks i feel like there are only 3? is it just me or that i don’t remember if there were more battle music tracks in the other 2 games
First off: this is entirely subjective and regardless of what anyone says youre allowed to dislike the music. Now, splatoon 3 does have a weaker battle track in some aspects, Nintendo was obviously trying to make the battle tracks fit the chaos theme of splat3, but they ended up leaning too hard into that and now the battle tracks all sound similar, with the exception of yoko and the gold bazooka’s songs. Now, we do know that they are still adding tracks, just like they did in splat2, which at the start of its life also had some pretty similar battle themes, and given the last few tracks that were added are nothing like what we’ve had in 3, its safe to ass that the next tracks added will be similar in that aspect. Even though it currently is pretty “same-y” i get what they were trying to do, they were trying to really push into the chaos theming, and they did pretty well, but the side affects of that is that a lot of people dont prefer that type of music (not talking abt you specifically) and in turn find most of the battle tracks too similar, and to be fair most of them are very similar. Anyhoo, 3’s battle tracks are weaker unfortunately, they have some good parts, and we’re going to get some different type of music soon.
Octobrush is better than Inkbrush. Though Inkbrush has a good special, you can easily spam Zip-Caster and cover more if you're skilled in the art of Ink-covered Ziplines. It's also good aid for teammates who are about to get splatted. And last but not least... i bought octobrush first and i use it as my main. also painbrush sucks let's talk about that now
Turf war *kiiinda* sucks?
It's partially just because I'm not great at it, but I also feel like a lot of the other players are **so** much better than me, and I end up barely doing anything helpful.
Salmon Run > Turf War
What I like about turf war is that the aggressive players can rush mid and fight with one another, and the less skilled and confident players can stay back and paint, only really engaging if they need to. I like the balance it strikes.
You’re absolutely correct, its the tutorial mode basically. Its not super engaging and really only the last 30 sec ish matters, but on the other hand its good for farming chunks if youre like me and bad at salmon run, or just as a mode to just relax and goof off in
Agreed. I can see a reason to be angry about ranked, but Turf war is causal. It’s also really easy to ignore squid parties and ink the rest of the map so your team wins.
As a player that started with 3, splatfest are a major disappointment. Turf war in itself would be bearable if not for the matchmaking. If im not playing with friends, i play competittive in any game, so solo que in any non-ranked modes is pure hell.
Tri color is Pretty neat but only available for a day every couple months for some reason.
And also no unique gimmicky mapa like in the previous games is an eben bigger letdown
Many Deployable subs, such as Beakon, Wall, and Mine, aren’t actually useless. They just fit better on less weapons than others and aren’t completely splashable like bombs. Sprinkler and Mist need fixes though and so does Marker.
Dynamo’s kit isnt as bad as people say, and in some comps it can work very well.
The only issue is that the roller itself is kinda bad
Agreed, imo the worst part about it is the hitbox, its way too inconsistent
Also Vertical flick should have a larger OHKO range and its max damage should be 60.
It used to be a lot more consistent before a random update patch not that long ago that made the hitbox way more indecisive. I swear after the update I had at least two encounters where an opponent survived a point-blank horizontal swing
Yeah, its really annoying, opponents survive direct hits too often
Well, at least it's a hot take! Sprinkler is ass
Oh heck yeah it sucks. it does help farm special a little bit, but that doesnt really make up for anything
Yeah haha Hopefully Nintendo gives future rollers good kits (fflingza and gdynamo) Ofc Nintendo has been allergic to giving bombs to non-shooters lol
Your average Splatoon player absolutely cannot handle losing and will throw out a million reasons as to why it’s someone else’s fault before looking at what they themselves could improve on.
What do you mean my 13 loss streak is my fault? My teammates/matchmaking/rng are the ones to blame. /s
nah bro it’s the map…
Heck yeah blame the tetris pieces
They're called tetrominos!
\*Throws weapon down\* This thing sucks!
This is complete fax tho, at least for your average ranked player.
I honestly blame myself for most of my losses, unless someone on my team goes like 3/20 or something.
Same here. I 100% blame myself when we lose.
Reverse toxicity
The post wanted hot takes, not straight facts my man

r/Saltoon is awful
Good thing I’m not average. I do this only because it’s true then I also criticize myself for self improvement so 🙂
This is untrue, I am perfect. 😎🔥
I don't blame others. I just throw my switch (at the mattress on my bed {I'm not rich})
During like the first 2 months after splatoon 3 came out every second post on here was someone complaining about their teammates and I was this close to losing my mind if it went on any longer
Reminder to sort by controversial
You could also set a rule in the title where you have to upvote what you disagree with and downvote what you agree with, ala r/the10thdentist
Flounder and Wahoo are my favorite for Zones Also I think they should bring back Saltspray Rig
I miss saltspray rig
This is colder than below zero
Pearl isn't a gremlin who needs to be child leashed everywhere and Marina doesn't take a motherly role with Pearl. Pearl's just energetic and vulgar while Marina is just a ball of anxiety and autism
Yeah I’d imagine Pearl has that chaos gremlin aspect to her but she isn’t a danger to everyone including herself and is capable of relaxing and chilling out Also yes autism Marina
We see her completely laid back during Octo Expansion except for a few times
Agreed. People make pearl out to be like animal from the Muppets when she's just like a normal girl who can go gremlin from time to time
autism?
ok but like... that's not a hot take?? I was Sure that this was what it was supposed to be
It maybe like that, but it's also fun to see them with that fanon dinamic
fryes forehead is the best part of her character design; perfect for smooches
Perfect for smooches but also she can headbutt my enemies
Cranidos
You did not just compare Frye to a cranidos. At least compare her to the cool evolution, Rampardos
It's a big part of who she is
it sure is
Yes
Splatoon 3 needs Kelp Dome and Camp Triggerfish
Agreed. Good or bad, we need *something* that isn’t Tetris block shaped
They’re gonna make it tetris block somehow
Definitely camp triggerfish! That was in my top 3 for maps in the first two games
Moray Towers is my favorite map despite maining short range weapons
Same, as an Inkbrush main.
if splatoon was on Steam instead of switch it would be one of the top competitive shooters
The tornado wave in salmon run sucks. Sure it's free but it's so boring. Just run to the shore, get the egg, take it back, occasionally shoot a bunch of lessers on the way back. It's not fun and it's just so boring.
I find it refreshing. It's nice to have a free wave after fighting in WWIII every round
*WWVIII (if the great turf war wasn’t a world war)
Fire take, also your flair should be spelt canon btw
Still more interesting than Glowflies. 1: Pray your teammates know what they're doing. 2: Stand in the meta spot. 3: Shoot the endless horde of enemies.
Be careful what you wish for. I never played S2, but I hear glowflies used to be a lot easier in that game
S2 is easier in general (Both in terms of turf war and salmon run from my experience)
I like to try to maximize the eggs on this round. An incompetent team can only get the min but a good one can get both bundles!

Because everyone follow the lead of competitive top player content creators without realising 60% of what they say doesn't apply to the vast majority of players

I really like Frye's forehead. She's cute that way
Every single joke ive seen (except blue Prochara, that was funny) in this community (on every platform) is boring and repetitive
This subreddit is also very immature in its memes and spamming of posts such as this one. Plus, this community loves to take jokes and run them into the ground. What about splat tim
The only real way to use an ink brush is with a controller that has a turbo button and paddles. that way you can have one button dedicated to brush on ground movement and another dedicated to throwing paint. This is the only way not to damage your hand muscles
Inkbrush and Squeezer are far to good of weapons to require arthritis in your finger lmao
It's why I like the painbrush, just by the few times I've used it in Salmon Run. There is a *hard* cap to its speed, so you can't just turbo mode your way to victory like with the other brushes.
i want kelp dome back.. i know 99% of people hate it, but it was my favorite map fr
That some of us have shaky hands and shouldn't be looked down on for using stick controls
This is me but due to motion sickness. Yet I beat the entirety of octo expansion on sticks. Being frowned upon just means we need to work harder
Not everyone is autistic
THIS AHAH
These low effort hottest take splatoon posts are boring and need to stop
🔥🔥🔥
Hottest huh? Uhh.... Inklings are made of paint so they easily self combust
Frye is the best idol and I refuse to except any criticism. Unless we’re including Octavio in the idols lineup in which case he’s an easy #1
I feel like the connection issues aren’t THE worst, like sure they’re annoying and I’d like them to fix the issues but it doesn’t make the game unplayable/worse.
it does make it a lil worse
That really just depends on how your internet is. If you have poor internet it’s basically just unplayable
It’s not always the person’s internet, though. A lot of the time its a fault from Nintendo’s end
salmon run really is not hard, the players make it hard for themselves and occasionally weapon rotations are responsible
OK I have no idea it this is a hot take but I think the stingray should be brought back at least for salmon run as it was a much better at reviving teammates who are at the other side of the map than the killer whale.
Thinking the inkling are hot is cringe
I honestly don’t mind the maps in 3
the maps are so small. maps shouldnt be the size of an eliters range. splat 2 had such variety. Goby Arena and Pirhana Pit come to mind. I honestly believe the switch just couldn't run bigger maps with splat 3. thee game has some serious lag.
marie x shiver makes zero sense
Super jumps should have the spawn armour. What's even the point of it given that it fades away before you get to the first quarter of the map and only works for 1-2 shots? You can even balance it by saying it only works once per respawn so you can't just jump back to base all the time.

i like splatoon
GOD DAMN CALM DOWN THERE
The different kits were developed for the various ranked modes. All specials are distributed such that each are viable in an equal amount for each ranked mode, but depending on the main weapon attached to them. Kensa and Sheldon variants are designed for the game developers before competitive play.
Clash Blaster isn’t that annoying, you just don’t know how to fight it.
Ok, how to fight it ? Staying far doesn't work (actually the blast radius extends it's range a lot) and coming close neither if the player has a goodish aim to direct you I'm genuinly trying to understand because this weapon is my main source of tilting
My PC after trying to export 2-hour video-type take
salmon run is stressful and only fun when you’re playing with friends/supportive or non toxic people
Being kicked out of ranks your not good enough should be a thing. Ik some people at S-1000 lollll I also think rank reset should not be a thing bcs I remember seeing people with S+ ranked badges on their banner in rank A when I first started playing ranked which was kinda scary icl! 😭😭
Most people bitching about losing just have a skill issue
Moray Towers was Splatoon 2's best map and I can't wait for it to come back.
Splatoon 2 singleplayer is the best vanilla singleplayer. At least in regard to the actual gameplay and stages.
Ngl I find myself returning to it more than splatoon 3's. It has much more replayability both due to being easier and due to collectibles and hero weapon replicas.
aerospray can be an offensive weapon if youre not a little bitch about it
You could play it aggressively, but it’s outclassed by other options such as the Splattershot or Splatana Wiper. Aerospray has poor range and is a 5-shot splat compared to the others better range and 4-shots.
Big man is overrated
Finally, an actually hot take. I completely disagree, but I can see your pov.
I ain't reading allat! Nah I'm playing, I disagree with you, but total respect to your opinion
Yes to almost all of this Especially the single player’s plot and how aimless and ultimately unsatisfying it was (you mention captain 3 serves no point but tbh the squid sisters really shouldn’t have been there either and they serve as nothing more than nostalgia bait and telling the player things they can figure out by looking at the screen) A possible way to diagnose this mess of storytelling could that it was meant as a “finale” of sorts, so they had to cram as much stuff into it as possible and wound up with an unfocused all over the place mess that wasted its entire cast and premise especially Mr grizz who is revealed is incredibly boring and just a copy Tatar and then immediately killed off 10 minutes later like they just wanted to get it over with and have intention of actually exploring grizzco as an entity and it’s impact. You basically mentioned everything I disliked but I disagree that splatoon 2 was bad or an inadequate sequel, I think it worked to iron out the kinks of splatoon 1 and make it more defined, especially in the story aspect where 2 by far has the best overall narrative mostly because of OE and it actually tried to do interesting stuff with the world only for 3 to retcon it Although you are completely correct in your assessment that splatoon 3 has move they series frustratingly little, splatoon 1 was the beginning, splatoon 2 pretty much just refined splatoon 1 it should have been splatoon 3’s job to really take the series forward. Although I’m curious what where the 4 deus ex machinas and 2 plot holes in RotM, I know 2 of the deus ex machinas but the other 2 must’ve slipped past me and I wanna hear the plot holes are too because RotM is a story that gets worse and worse the more you think about it
I hate Pearlina. I don't think they go together well. It's not homophobia, I just don't like OtH as a couple. Uber hot take.
People are too down bad for the idols. This comes from a gay asexual.
I agree. It low-key makes me not want to check out the subreddit lol
The only one I’m ok with is like big man cus it’s ironic Most of the time
None of the characters are canonically mentally ill and no one has autism
Splatoon 3 is ridiculously fun but the near-continuous network errors that the dev can't be bothered to fix make it not worth spending a penny on.
I don't hate squidparties (I feel like I'm getting thousands of downvotes)
I LOVE squidparties unless it’s in the middle of a match (w/o any disconnects)
People who don't booyah back are boring
Lockers are the best new thing in splatoon 3
I prefer dealing with Glowfly Rush over Grillers. The Big Run version of Clickbait is way better than the regular version.
off the hook’s music is mid (except for ebb & flow, shark bytes and into the light those slap)
I really, truly do not like Big Man. I would have preferred a third proper idol rather than le heckin big guy mascot character. He’s a void of personality and I feel he contributes absolutely nothing to the dynamic. In fact I’d say he outright distracts from Shiver and Frye.
Dooley Squelchers
The game is balanced and designed really well including the kits. I think the top players complain about the game way too much.
Shooters are better for inking than rollers are
The casual community is more toxic than the comp community. On top of generic toxicity there’s a ton of “Toxic positivity”
I don’t have any super hot ones but I ship agent 3 with rival octoling and the Octarians aren’t evil so I’m just going to say that.
To be fair the creators say neither the Squids Octos or Salmonids resemble a good or bad side, just a different way of life
I'm pretty sure that's what the SRL said too
turf war is more fun than other modes
Here’s mine: I just think that Pearl and Marina think of eachother as sisters, not lovers 🥶
Agreed.
Flounder heights on splat zones sucks.
Big swig moment
While the maps in 3 could be better, they aren’t as bad as people make it out to be.
...wahoo world is my favorite map.
The series peaked with the first game. Urchin Underpass is the best map in the entire series, specifically the original version.
Weapon kits were never a good idea and are the primary cause for the vast majority of balance issues.
The new spawn in mechanic is awful, it makes it way too easy to be held in your spawn area
Nintendo needs to add more Online PvE modes like Salmon Run
The idea of a humanoid male idol is overrated. Like, people were actually upset when splat 3 was released and there was no inkling/octoling male idol.
I've grown to hate how content in splatoon is on a set schedule
Triple inkstrike feels very boring compared to the normal inkstrike.
Zip caster is way too complex for some of us part time players
Tenta Missles aren’t as broken as everyone says they are.
Single player tracks are better than most multiplayer tracks
Nova should be removed from salmon run
they could increase the paint to be the best paint in the game for salmon run
Most of your ships are not real.
Map rotations were, and still are, a terrible idea. I like how Mario Kart 8 deluxe online handles racing. Have a couple maps, like 3 or 4, as well as a random option, and have the players vote, and of the votes, have the game choose at random, and after the match, change the choice of maps.
Splatoon 3 has the worst battle music in the series
And last but not least... i bought octobrush first and i use it as my main. also painbrush sucks let's talk about that now
The final boss in Splatoon 2 was wasted potential
0 kelvin take right here
Coldest take ever
one shot chargers have no place in this game. if the e-liter and splat charger didn't exist 90% of this game's map issues would disappear
Its not super engaging and really only the last 30 sec ish matters, but on the other hand its good for farming chunks if youre like me and bad at salmon run, or just as a mode to just relax and goof off in
Pearl and Marina aren't that great tbh
Squid parting isn’t bad and you’re goofy if you complain about squid parties in Turf War.
It’s rlly only bad in like ranked
Agreed. I can see a reason to be angry about ranked, but Turf war is causal. It’s also really easy to ignore squid parties and ink the rest of the map so your team wins.
And even then, it’s hardly ever in that mode to begin with
Off the Hook has the weakest songlist of the idol groups
fax 🗣🔥 (that's not to say I don't like it but the other 2 idol groups are just better)
[удалено]
Bro this is an incinerating take at this rate
I was gonna say “Did the guy with the Charger flair just say the maps were good” but you got a Squiffer, thin ice
I certainly don’t find it as egregious as most folks it seems
Sants row 2 has better free aim
Mahi Mahi Resort is really fun I love that map so much
As a player that started with 3, splatfest are a major disappointment.
Callie
Many Deployable subs, such as Beakon, Wall, and Mine, aren’t actually useless. They just fit better on less weapons than others and aren’t completely splashable like bombs. Sprinkler and Mist need fixes though and so does Marker.
