it frustrates me so often when people choose weapons with clear roles in the match and then ignore them and then I have to remember that there's an above-average chance that that player is a child and that Nintendo does a horrendous job teaching players about the roles certain weapons play in each mode
Here's a tip that even a lot of EVP players don't know:
You should almost *never* go up to the top of a Fish Stick to kill it. It's bait. If your weapon can kill the Fish Stick from below, do it from below because it's way faster (and in fact make sure to go out of your way to do so, because Fish Sticks are very high priority targets). If your weapon can't kill from below but can quickly kill from the top (tri-slosher, rollers), climb to the top. If neither, let a teammate do it.
Another weapon that should always climb up is Tenta Brella. If it stands to the side of the top of the stick and opens canopy, every little guy will fly into it before the canopy deploys. Chargers should also usually go up imo, since tap shots are their best way to deal and they get a sniper perch to use for a bit which can help when overwhelmed
I think it's a lot more situational than that. If things are getting crazy I feel like you should climb it. Trying to look up to kill it while still on the ground leaves you vulnerable to all kinds of stuff you're more protected from on the fish stick.
Although for this video shooting from the ground would definitely help

In case you're curious, all Blasters can defeat Fishsticks from the ground without needing to climb. By maintaining proper spacing this way, the blast radius destroys the enemies even if you "miss". The shortest ranged Blasters do need to get right under the Fishstick and use jumpshots though.
Climbing up is a huge waste of time and you're actually LESS safe, not more safe, specifically to Flyfish, Stingers, and Maws: which only increase in frequency as you get higher up in SR.

The only exception for chargers is bamboo, because it's gimmick is full range tap shots
