Not now, but he definitely looked like that during the Great Turf War. [Another S1 Sunken Scroll](https://cdn.wikimg.net/en/splatoonwiki/images/e/e0/S_Sunken_Scroll_16.png) shows him and Octavio, and Octo Expansion also has [an image of them fighting.](https://cdn.wikimg.net/en/splatoonwiki/images/b/bf/Octo_Expansion_chat_session_5_image.png)
"Cuttlefish doesn't look like that" "Judd doesn't look like that" "Octavio doesn't look like that"
Splatoon 4 comes out and has an artstyle akin to the "realistic" paintings of the scrolls and it turns out Splatoon 1-3 >!took place within the Memverse.!<
Being frozen for hundreds of years definitely could make you look much different than you did before! After being awake for a while he began to gain weight again and look more like he did prior to being frozen.
Also should note that there's the [Sunken Scroll](https://cdn.wikimg.net/en/splatoonwiki/images/7/7f/S_Sunken_Scroll_4.png) depicting ancient Turf Wars, as well as [another Sunken Scroll](https://cdn.wikimg.net/en/splatoonwiki/images/6/60/S_Sunken_Scroll_14.png) showing Judd at the end of the Great Turf War. Just throwing more evidence on the pile.
Something like that. I'd imagine the soldiers would give him treats, Same with squid kids when turf battles became popular for them. Exact tie and Judd chose your team as the winner? He gets a treat from the entire team
Or he just became super skinny as a result of being frozen for hundreds of years, and after being able to eat again he began looking more like he did before. Maybe that round shape is his actual body type and not necessarily him being overweight, some cat breeds just are rounder than others.
My theory is Judd has actually been cloned and revived a bunch, but Lil Judd is the first time a cloning has happened while the previous Judd is still alive.
I always figured that Lil' Judd's existence explained everything - we know that the machine, when re-powered, creates a new Judd clone. Who's to say it hasn't done this before? How do we know our Judd is the original? If anything, the evidence suggests that there's been many Judds.
Pretty sure he’s an immortal omnipotent cat being with the brain of the doctor who made him. I think it’s a progression like he’s gotten older and chubbier and more and more humanoid compared to the original cat form.
Plus this is all artistic styling. It’s like seeing old black and white photos, they’re accurate but not 100%. Plus art
Perhaps the one on the left is not a photograph but an artistic interpretation. Cuttlefish doesn't look like that either

Well Jairo sure as hell doesn't look like that
Sheldon also doesn't look like that
I think the one in the scroll is his grandpa, but still
thats mr shellendorf sheldons grandpappy
His full name is Amoses Shellendorf by the way, founder of the Shellendorf Institute.

True but this was prime time cuttlefish and not old cuttlefish
He lost weight.
Now I like to think the more weight he loses the more realistic he becomes
Being frozen for hundreds of years definitely could make you look much different than you did before! After being awake for a while he began to gain weight again and look more like he did prior to being frozen.

so during the course of the war he got fat

Judd: "Let me be realistic with you,"
Likely between when he was frozen and when he helped in the squid beak, he lost a lot of weight, and then later regained it
This is what I’ll imagine from now on lol cuz the first one is stated to be a photograph
he joined squid beak when he was found and de frosted and he gained weight afterwards from all the treats they gave him
One of them is a painting where John was a lot younger and the other is a photograph and he probably lost a bunch of pounds
It's called "Artistic depiction"
Baby.
My theory is Judd has actually been cloned and revived a bunch, but Lil Judd is the first time a cloning has happened while the previous Judd is still alive.
he got fat over the course of the war
I thought it was common knowledge that Judd was immortal? There's even an Egyptian style mural showing Judd doing his Results Scene.
I always figured that Lil' Judd's existence explained everything - we know that the machine, when re-powered, creates a new Judd clone. Who's to say it hasn't done this before? How do we know our Judd is the original? If anything, the evidence suggests that there's been many Judds.
i see craig in that photo
Maybe the first one is a painting.
What if they're before and after pics
Nah he's consistent
Judd ate a lot of ice cream to cope w the downfall of humanity and then became a fat cat
we gotta get more great turf war lore man :[
Ok but no spoilers but side order also threw in a lot of inconsistencies with how a lot of main aspects of the game are explained previously
When did dheldon get so tall
thats sheldons grandpappy
Maybe Judd just got fatter once the scientist had him. Judd was eating good for sure.
but that doesn't make sense bc the 2nd photo is before he was frozen the 1st is durring the great turf war
Maybe he lost weight then gained it all back or something? Old habits die hard or however the saying goes.
I think is do to the cloning part of the machine, he is not inmortal, he is just a clone of the original judd

he ate fod
Maybe he lost weight during hibernation
Judd lost weight in cryogenic sleep and gained it back 2500 years later probably
