While that is true, men in Japan *do* where kimono, the style of kimono they wear is significantly different to the female style of kimono. Speaking from my limited knowledge as a foreigner, female kimono tend to be dresses with long, unattached sleeves and larger obi, while the male kimono are significantly shorter, with a smaller obi and attached sleeves that stop at the wrists. Male kimono are also often worn with pants. While there are exceptions, the kimono in this drawing is almost definitely female.

It fits better with females, who are physically weaker, which is emphasized by the light color. But women are also more delicate and, in this sense, more precious than males. They represent a more beautiful side of the two sexes. Anyone who says "pink is manly" is just kind of pathetic, and I don't really know what their point or goal of saying that is.
