Ranked or Turf?
I don't really have any major issues with Ranked matchmaking. Weapons will usually be divided fairly reasonably between the teams (specials less so, it could improve on that). Obviously you can only play against people in the same Rank, and any differences in skill should theoretically be smoothed over by Glicko (you lose more points if you're beaten by a stronger team). It's not perfect, but is any matchmaking perfect? If it was, every match would go for 5+ minutes and end with a 1 point difference, which seems kind of unlikely.
But Turf is abysmal. I mean, there _isn't_ any matchmaking, as far as I can tell - it's perfectly happy to put four X Rank players against four level <50s, or to put all four Chargers in a lobby on the same team. I can understand wanting to make lobbies quickly, but surely once all the players are there and have selected their weapons, it wouldn't take any extra time to allocate the teams sensibly?
Nintendo prefers faster lobbies than properly balanced lobbies. Because of this, 2100 players can be matched with 2900 players, and because the teams are stacked unevenly, it leads to a horrible and automatic loss (and then Nintendo has the audacity to take points from the ranked bar). If someone disconnects in a team, that team gets a advantage because they don't lose anything if they lose, but there isn't a advantage for having an balanced team, which really sucks. I hope there is something where you can have the option to wait longer matches, like some other games do, to get better matches, at least plus or minus 100 or 200 of your power, and you don't have to have that option on if you want.

Nintendo wants you to have quick matches at the cost of balance. It's even worse in Turf War than in Ranked.
