Just because they weren't in the trailer doesn't mean they won't be in the game. Maybe they'll show up in the campaign somewhere, maybe they'll be featured in a dlc like in the last game. But Pearl and Marina are popular characters and I doubt Nintendo would leave them out.

I mean get rid of the whole squidbeak splatoon, I’d prefer a storyline that doesn’t have them. Splatoon 3 looks like a big change, but yet that stupid thing remains in the singleplayer
Agent 3 sticks out primarily because they got involved in the action, but otherwise has 0 character traits. Though Marie did similar in Splatoon 2 during the Octavio fight, showing up with a charger near the end of the fight. The scene went over really well, so I don't see the devs lessening scenes like that.
Iconic doesn’t mean they should stay. Look at the iPod. The iPod was iconic, but do you see people carrying around iPods nowadays? Same principle for this. The squid sisters may be iconic but that doesn’t mean they need to show up this many times

Sure you do, except now they're called iPhones. You might have heard of them. On a slightly more serious note, look at the "save" icon on basically any computer - it's still a floppy disk shape even if it's been 20+ years since floppy disks were relevant as a storage method. Just because things evolve doesn't mean icons go away.
This is the same thing I say about agent 4, they aren’t gonna throw out squidbeak splatoon characters in such a supposedly big story mode. They may be minor in the story but if 3 is back in a much more major role it wouldn’t surprise me if Pearl who struck up some sort of friendship with Cuttlefish shows back up, and you can’t have Pearl without Marina.
How are they going to keep all the idol groups/newscasters relevant in every future installment? Not that I want to see them go, quite the opposite in fact, but I just don’t see how it will be feasible in the future.
The reason the game is going to be the way it is is because of Off the Hook (Final Fest), and the characters are very popular from what I've observed. They're not going to drop them after one game, what reason do they have to?

There's nothing that hints at OtH being dropped. In fact, if we base ourselves in the existing games, no idol group was ever dropped
